I feel like Thanatos helped people pass away because they were subject to all of the hardships that his sisters brought into the world. He might’ve just pitied humans when they were in pain or when they were so old that they couldn’t function and relieved their souls. I think his actions were less a duty and more of a gift when people were suffering. That’s my view on it anyway.

The whole gods wont break any oath made on the river styxx for fear of what will happen to them well if you notice the styxx has no form it is not a god or primordial being it has no power so why do they fear it? Because the person who's associated with it nyxx hence styxx see the similarity?? This is what every immortal being fears not the river or some form of magic karma its nyxx she will probably not react if an oath is broken but if she did react.... no gods have been willing to find out

I've always disliked the view most people have on gods like Hades and Thanatos, it's not really fair to compare them to the devil like you said. They really aren't that bad but in films and such they are usually depicted as evil demons for whatever reason. I've always had a soft spot for them because they aren't cruel, they're just doing their job. If Thanatos stops doing his nobody can die, if Hades stops doing his the dead can never reach the underworld. It would be a pretty bad situation, people would be dismembered from war but unable to die, the old would be suffering from the results of being extremely old with no end in sight, etc... Mythology needs characters like them or things would be even more morbid in the stories and such.

@@EnigmaEnginseer it doesn't, death is moe mysterious and seems sympathetic yet respectable as a character when they are shown to be a fair judge of life. Instead I'd "oooo, imma get you and then you'll be dead" Is death supposed to be a villain now? I'd say the chess loving Swedish bone man himself is up there. Certainly not as grandiose as the giant, buff, flaming master of hide and seek, but he's certainly got the fair and just part of the job down and I honestly think he pulls that off with the way he looks better than Thanatos. His appearance is more modest and chilling.

I've written a lot of my own stories of Thanatos, including how he tries not to be sad about how he is demonized despite how gently merciful he does his duties. In those stories, I use artistic expressions of shock and brain death to explain his merciful embrace. In shock, your pain vanishes. As you near death, you stop fearing it. That is him touching then embracing you. The only way those don't work is if you reject his mercy in his duties. Your brain shutting down, that apparent tunnel to the light, that is him carrying you to the afterlife. People who survive "near-death" and remember those experiences are people Thanatos either fumbled or some other force tore the dying from his hands.

I found the way Underword's Gods described in Greek Myth very fascinating: they not charming or loved, they rarely do what not their job and quite stiff but mostly very fair, not evil, petty or horny like many Olympus Gods. And since myth is the reflection of the way ancient people saw the world, i believe it was the way ancient Greek saw the death: though sometime cruel, often emotionless, and they just never loved it, but still they respected it as the unavoidable, the release and the ultimate fair

It's a very overwhelming feeling knowing that my videos bring people joy, the channel has been doing better than I could ever imagine. Being featured by KZfaq on the trending page was great but it does also mean that I've been receiving Fake/Bot accounts subscribing to me, from what I've heard they tend to go away after 2 or 3 weeks. If I had to guess I'd say my actual sub account is probably around 50-60k so are most likely half way to 100k and that silver play button. I will definitely be doing a 100k live stream but I will be trying to do at least one livestream every week or two as I really enjoy engaging with viewers that way. Lore is something I definitely would love to cover in terms of Movies/tv shows and books, as for history I kind of do it in a way but there are events I wouldn't mind covering.

I work at a funeral home and in doing so have found myself in a unique position where I am often seen as someone to be avoided or to keep interactions brief with. Regardless I enjoy my work and do so with a passion. To hear you explain this deity and state your respect for his work It made me smile. I'm glad to know that even one person remembers, that even though what I do is not popular it is still respectable.

One book that addresses the whole death not being evil thing is a young adult romance novel called Keturah and Lord Death. I cant remember who wrote it but it was a very good story and i read it around the time my nana died. It helped me cope a little. Its not death that hurts us. Its life

There is a beautiful copper statue of Thanatos at the Green Mount cemetery in Montpelier, Vermont. The ironic thing is that us locals have called the statue Black Agnus for as long as I have been around, and I am sure that not many people know the true nature of the statue in question really is though.

I'm pretty new to the channel and am loving these videos - but I have just one request: Could you show the spellings of some of these deific names on screen? It can be hard to hear/remember those names or know how to spell them to do more research; for example when discussing the three sisters of Thanatos you mentioned a particular name for the group of them but there was no writing on screen so it would take some trial and error with multiple rewinds to figure out a spelling to search for in books or online. You often point out new characters or stories that I'm unfamiliar with so it would be great to have an easier way to use your videos as a stepping stone to more research. But anyways I love your videos so thanks a ton!

The Whole avengers saga is base on the The Olympians vs Titans war. Captain America = Ares (god of War) Black Window = Athena (goddess of War) Iron Man = Hephaestus (the great builder) Thor = Zeus (God of The Sky/Lighting) Hulk = Hercules Hawkeye = Hermes And Thanos is actually based on 3 separate gods, Of course Thanatos, The Titan Kronos and his Roman Mythology equivalent Saturn

Isn’t Thor a Norse god?
@americanfresh17
@americanfresh17 5 жыл бұрын
@@beebosforehead2246 you're correct but try to look at it in a different way. In Norse mythology Thor is the god of thunder and is known as the strongest Avenger (physically) and yes he's stronger than Hulk because beat him in 1 on 1 combat twice (Avengers 1 and Thor Ragnarok). And Zeus is the most powerful Olympian and the God of thunder in Greek Mythology so in this case they are equal
