Thanks so much to everyone who contributed to this. I know that speaking on camera can be stressful and embarrassing, but you all did a fantastic job of communicating your interest in, support of, and enthusiasm for BABYMETAL. I tried to honor the spirit of your original recordings while weaving them together to create a unified narrative as much as was possible. Please forgive the clunky editing.
I hope that other fans enjoy hearing some of their own feelings voiced here, and that the band themselves will see it and feel our gratitude!

Honestly, Babymetal has changed my life. I knew about them for a while but it wasn't really until the beginning of 2020 that I went from thinking "Ha! What a crazy and silly idea." To realizing that no, they're not a joke, they're not a meme, they make actually good music and everyone: the girls, the Kami Band, everyone are all VERY skilled musicians. I hadn't so much as even TOUCHED my guitar in over 7 years because I just had absolutely zero motivation to play or practice. Now, I practice every single day, working on things I've never even tried before (guitar solos and improvisation) and it is 100% thanks to Babymetal that I got back into the guitar (I still remember the song that made me pick up my guitar again after all that time. It was Awadama Fever.) Their music gives me energy, makes me happy, and has reignited the passion I once had for playing the guitar. They're a huge part of my life now and who I am but all I can really say is thank you.

I have been just a fan for less than two months and still have so much to learn. So much emotion has been involved with listening to their music and the fans and community have been so welcoming. It's been awhile since I have felt positive about life thru listening to music and being lifted spiritually has already been an intense journey. Thank you.

I grew up with Babymetal, lol. So it gives me immense inspiration to listen to them. I am just 2 years younger than Moa. Their success, hard work and positivity are off the charts. I look up to them, for they are definitely a role model in my life. I think I speak for everyone when I say that the vibe they give off can clear any gloom or sadness in our hearts in the most Metal way possible. So here is to the next 10+ years of Babymetal. Excited for the future!

This video pretty much encapsulates what that grand spectacle known as BABYMETAL means to me. I didn't really start getting into BABYMETAL until around late November of 2020 (although I had been keeping tabs on them since I think the Five Fox Festival back in 2017), and their music, their routines on stage and their overall personalities both on and off stage has helped me through some very, very dark times in my life. Whenever I was feeling down and depressed, and felt like there was no other way out, I started listening to BABYMETAL's music and I started feeling better about life. For that, I am eternally grateful to both Suzuka and Moa, and I hope that they (and, in turn, Amuse) keep their recent success going!

Well done AJ, this is a beautiful and inspiring message to the best band in the world today. Being relatively new to Babymetal (I only discovered them about three months ago), I felt I had no right to contribute to your call for thankyou videos, I simply haven't made the personal investment in time, loyalty and commitment. However, I appreciate seeing all the wonderful comments from fans, both long-term and new, and can only echo their feelings of joy, inspiration and love that Babymetal engenders. So, thankyou Babymetal for inspiring a community of disparate people. I also want to thank you AJ for all your work putting this thankyou together and giving voice to your contributors. Thank you.

First of all, thank you, Professor Hartley, for compiling, editing, and producing this great tribute video dedicated to BABYMETAL. What an outstanding job you did. And thanks to all the fans all over the world who contributed their personal feelings and anecdotes concerning BM. Watching this video brought tears (of joy) to my eyes. Personally, I am a music lover but until March of 2021 had never heard of Babymetal. And I was not a big fan of metal music. Then I stumbled across (on KZfaq) my first encounter with a BM video. I don’t even remember which song it was but probably something from the first album, like “Gimme Chocolate!” or “Headbangeeerrr!”. I was kind of blown away. So, I watched more and more BM videos. Of course, I soon bought all three albums and, also, a couple of blu-rays with concerts from the UK and Budokan. When I’m working in the garden or driving in the car or doing anything else where I’m able, I listen to Babymetal songs constantly. I just wish that I had discovered Babymetal 6 or 7 years ago so that I could have made plans to catch one of their shows here in the U.S. while they were on tour. I’ve had favorite bands and guitar heroes before but never to the extent of my obsession with Babymetal. Their presentation has so many superlative elements: the singing and choreography of the girls, the musicianship of the Kami band, the songwriting and arrangements, the variety of subject matter and musical styles of the songs - it just all comes together to create a “perfect storm” of musical excellence that is intoxicating. I recently celebrated my birthday, three days after Moa celebrated hers. But my original birthday was 55 years before hers! Yes, I’m old and I’m addicted to Babymetal. But it’s an addiction from which I hope never to be cured!!

@AndrewHartley
@AndrewHartley 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I thought about adding Japanese subs, but it's tricky, and not just because of translation issues. There's only so much text I can get on the screen, and when there are already English subs for people speaking in other languages, plus names, it gets busy fast. In the end, I went for the Japanese intro. I'll look into adding Japanese subs retroactively though.
@Zedem0n
@Zedem0n 2 жыл бұрын
@@AndrewHartley Yeah those things also crossed my mind so I imagine they also did yours. I was thinking maybe a kind Japanese soul would be down to make the subs themselves and it does not make the video too busy. I guess if it's soft-coded subs it can be read over most of what's being written in the case of when subs were already added in English in the bottom. I know the girls have some impressive English skills but maybe some accents will be harder for them to catch up on (in case they ever see this lol). Thanks again for doing this. The timing is somehow interesting with the recent BABYMETAL news of a hiatus. Sounds about a ripe time to be posting this kind of video. I hope you find someone kind enough to help you with the Japanese subs. If you need help finding someone don't hesitate to ask, we can do our part and look ourselves ;). Thank you, Prof Hartley, for putting this together. I think this turned out really good and I so hope that Babymetal will see it. It's so nice to see so many people from all over the world united in their love for Babymetal. BTW, I love the backpipes idea! If somebody can pull it off it's Babymetal!

PS: The editing was really well done, seeing that the video was 20+ minutes worried me a bit initially. However it ended up not being boring at all, thanks professor Hartley!

I see that Babymetal have even reached Middlesbrough...they are indeed powerful. I play Babymetal when I'm cycling and I'd like to thank them for music that matches my heart rate of 150 plus bpm. Seriously Su, Moa, Yui, Koba and the Kami's and all the back room staff have given me a lot of enjoyment over the last few years. Thanks Babymetal! PS. and thank you AJ for your informative and fun Babymetal content.

Professor, Thank you, this was amazing,. Thank you for putting this together, really does speak to how global and positive Babymetal is. Much thanks! You do an amazing job of capturing the feelings that people have. Thank you to those who contributed. You summed up my feelings quite well. I do not have sufficient words to describe the thanks I have for all you have done and hopefully continue to do. We are the ONE!

Great job Professor! I'm still not sure why this band affects me so profoundly. It was intriguing to see the how others answered your call and heart warming too. People from different cultures with varied personalities, life experiences and ages, it is as amazing as BabyMetal itself.

A beautiful video that shows of how big the positive influence of Babymetal is on so many out there. And it only shows a fraction of it. I hope you don't mind when i join you on this message: THANK YOU Su, Moa, Yui, The Avengers, all Kami-Band members including Mikio all the way up there, and the people in the background. What you have created with this project is in my opinion unprecedented and, unlike so much else in the last 10 years, has helped to make this world a better place! 🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻 And for that, we can't thank you enough! 🙏🏻❣️

I just discovered Babymetal a few months ago and crawling around in the foxhole I've discovered these amazing discussion videos from AJ Hartley. This video is amazing!! So I actually saw/heard gimme chocolate when it first came out. It confused yet captivated me but for whatever reason I didn't explore them. What a mistake! But in some ways it feels like I'm getting into them at a perfect moment. Doing a deep dive of their music and history I feel like I've been emotionally experiencing their journey in real time myself. I feel such a deep connection with them and for good reason. They have powerful messages to deliver to the world..messages wrapped in amazing music and incredible dancing and singing.
