Some would probably think Iron Man doesn’t make sense, but keep in mind: Thanos was first introduced in an Iron Man comic. Thanos seeing Tony as a worthy foe is both an indication of how much of a threat Tony can be, but also a reference to their first encounter. It’s pretty neat.

The 6 characters Thanos has also mentioned in later story arcs 1. Hulk 2. Silver Surfer. 3. Adam Warlock. 4. Thor 5. Dr. Doom 6. Galactus

Considering Dr Doom has bested Thanos on more than one occasion, he should definitely make the list.

I do agree Mar-Vell is more interesting than Carol mainly because Mar-Vell had a more robust background before becoming Captain Marvel. On the other hand, Carol basically began as a blank sleet. Is only very recently more was added to her background like a Kree mother and Kree half-sister; connecting her directly to the Kree instead of an artificial indirect connection through Mar-Vell. Thank goodness for Kelly Thompson.

If Doctor Doom isn't on the list, I'm calling shenanigans.

Where are The Hulk or Doctor Doom?! Thanos has specifically said he keeps checking on Doom in order to never let the monarch make a plan to outsmart and defeat him and Thanos also thinks his chances in a man-to-man fight against World Breaker Hulk would be 50:50 at best.

Didn't Thanos also reveal that he tries to avoid fighting hulk because fighting hulk is a high risk since he said you have to take him out as fast as possible if not you'd give him enough time to get and angrier and stronger ? He said he tries to avoid the risk of one day failing to beat hulk before he rages out more and overwhelms him. Also doctor doom should be on this list. He has outsmarted and beaten Thanos a couple of times in the past.

This might have been true 50 years ago, but after Death resurrected Thanos to bring balance to the universe, he was made orders of magnitude more powerful. None of the characters mentioned here would pose a problem. Thanos without infinity stones or a cosmic cube is nearly on par with Odin and Galactus in sheer power terms, but more clever than both.

I think most people don't differentiate in Thanos' base power vs Thanos with the infinity gauntlet and one or more stones at his disposal. If we are talking just plain Thanos, there is a whole list that could wipe him. Scarlet Witch showed she could rip him apart in End game before he sacrificed his own troops to save his own skin. Vision, Thor, Doctor Strange, Doctor Doom, Namor, and many more could go toe to toe with and even win against Thanos, given he doesn't have the gauntlet with infinity stones.

I was kinda underwhelmed, to be honest. I don't think the writers and myself were on the same page. Lol. Should have gone way more cosmic and over the top with characters like the "One Above All".

Thanos truly ahead of his time in his commitment to the statement "No Waifu No Laifu".

We all know that Thanos has gotten incredibly more powerful since then and his character has developed to a much further degree. Even though he respects the hell out of Mar-Vell, he no longer sees any these guys as a threat. Adam Warlock is the only one who may worry him

Though I believe his first appearance was in an Ironman comic, I feel his true rival will always be Silver Surfer. He may have beef with Captain Marvel and Adam Warlock seems more like a buddy rival at times but when I grew up (in the 90s) it was SS.

Other than Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell) I feel like Adam Warlock is definitely the most prominent Thanos enemy. Mostly because the Infinity Saga revolves around them, and pretty much every other Jim Starlin book.

Thanos did admit it that Wolverine could kill him, he alluded/hinted that Wolverine is capable of killing him. This was in the Infinity War storyline.

You would think Thanos would want some revenge on Squirrel Girl. Doctor Doom too. She could have a pretty heavy rogues gallery if she got a little darker and serious, she's not unlike Scout (Gabby Kinney, formerly Honey Badger) in her power set, super senses, healing factor, sharp claws sorta like Sabretooth, she was trained in hand-to-hand combat by Wolverine and she can "talk" to squirrels like Ratcatcher and rats in DC. Squirrel Girl has so much potential to be a major player in the 616, she needs a movie of her own, maybe a Deadpool spin-off, instead of idolizing Tony Stark she can try being Wade's sidekick before going off on her own adventures.

Moon Dragon, although powerful, lacked empathy to become a true champion of life. Drax has been de-buff in the movies and the comics. Additionally, he never truly had free will.

Dr. Doom, Dr. Strange/ Any magic user/ person with doctor in their name Hulk Ghost Rider/ Demons and divine beings Kang, Reed Richards/ Any smart character All Mutants Thanos is strong but usually relies on objects of power and his main strength is his knowledge of them and ability to acquire them. So any character or team that can disarm him and then brute force a fight can beat him probs. I don't know of any powers Thanos has besides the basic strongman immortal package. So I guess any character that can forcibly teleport someone could render him a non-threat. Also psychics and telepaths although the writers would probs just say his mind to strong or make him thunder clap anyone lifting him telekinetically.
