It probably isn't called "Guardians Ship", but I don't think it's going to be the Milano anymore. That ship was trashed on Berhert in Vol. 2, so they'll likely have a new one now.

Guest buy-in does seem lackluster in many of these. Which is odd, considering how many nerdy people they know/have on staff. You'd think you could just put the name of a boardgame on a whiteboard, with a time to film, and grab plenty of enthusiastic people.

within the first, like 10m, I paused the video and looked thru the comments to see if anyone felt the same way I did about the two comedy writers. One of them (Connie) genuinely looked like they were bored, and didn't want to be there. I don't expect every player to geek out to the max on every game, and be super high energy...but I at least want to watch people who look like they are having FUN.

It would be better if the designer actually knew the rules though. It says in the rulebook: "A player cannot use the abilities of newly recruited Heroes or Bonus Tokens on the same turn in which they are collected."

I never really thought of it like that, but since she rolled the infinity gauntlet I would assume it would bypass that rule. Since it activates all villains that are not in Thanos sector. So you would treat it like if Thanos was there. Just my two cents. You could always do house rules though lol.

Sure, you can put dice on any one card after each roll. Hero or villain.

Nathan Norton Some heroes, such as your starting hero, give you bonuses for having certain color of hero, other give you bonuses regardless of other heroes you have, such as Loki or the ships. So, while you have a starting strat to go for your color at first you probably shouldn't do all one color, especially since Outrider Generals deal 1 damage to all heroes of 2 colors in their sector, so if you match that color, and they trigger, that hurts. Plus, sometimes the color you started with isn't even on the board but you still try and get or damage something

The Almighty Game Genie is exactly right. It makes sense to pair up early on because it's an easy way to get another die quickly, but once that's done you're less vulnerable if you build a more diverse team. There is one caveat, which is that other team members' special powers often need a certain die roll to activate, which will be easier to get if your team has lots of that particular die color to roll.

I didn't think that Connie didn't care, I just thought she was really bad at this game (planning strategy, keeping track of her team's abilities, etc.) She wasted a bunch of turns at the start going for Loki which would take a perfect roll from all her dice, instead of getting Wong. It just seems totally obvious to me that you grab the 3-point characters early, and build up bonus tokens + extra dice to make a play for the major characters. This is just basic probability. At least the other players eventually started to correct her strategic mistakes, like stopping her from wasting Mantis's 2-point heal on 1 damage on Dr. Strange, so her terrible play didn't drag down the whole game.

Later, they do the same thing, and mention that one of the die results is basically Thanos attacks one sector but activates villains in a different sector. Must have happened the first time, too, just not well explained. One nice thing about having the game designer in the group is that they're unlikely to make a bunch of rules mistakes.

They rolled a total of 5 Yellow, which activated the Reality gem in Thanos Gauntlet. Any future Yellow rolls, will cause any Enemy not in the sector that Thanos is facing, to activate their abilities. They first read off the Reality effect at 12:12.

You could probably do a house rule variant to pick randomly from those colors, but it would naturally make the game more difficult without that initial synergy.

Agreed. Limiting it to four factions is really restrictive for a game like this. I mean, I can understand why, but go M:tG on this thing and add multicolored factions.

Mine seem pretty standard. If anything, they might be a little thicker than your average playing cards. I could see them getting bent if you bend them back too far to shuffle them, but I'm being careful with my shuffling anyway because I don't want to wear them out prematurely.

@@bigdream_dreambig Thor always gets nerfed. Cap and T'Challa combined, leader or not, don't come close to Thor's power level. And Thor looks way too hard to recruit in relation to what his abilities give the player. I'm probably wrong, but I feel like some character bias played a part in the hero power levels. If I get the game house rules would give Thor 7 instead of 5 HP. At the very least it should be 6.

Correction this show as been around ON TWITCH since season 2. But they are clearly uploading it on youtube to try and fill the void left by tabletop.

But what happens with Tabletop?

TableTop is gone, done, over. Move on. Legendary wanted TableTop on ProjectAlpha, Wil didn't. So he did the last season, they put it on Alpha and he quit.

It's been around for a while but it used to be a very different show to Tabletop when Ivan was hosting, even though the premise was similar. Becca's incarnation of the show feels more like Tabletop, but this is the first episode that has really felt like a proper substitute IMO, hopefully that becomes a trend, but we'll see.

Unless an Infinity gauntlet was rolled from Thanos.

jo holloway - No necessarily, they are just different people. Plus, at the beginning, Connie denotes not being a regular gamer, it's "funny" at her own way, and have some "bad luck" rolls/strategy a couple of rounds. It's possible that Becca tries to manage that problem over the other issue, don't you think? Finally, it's all about perspective, because objectively it's Becca's show (she have a "principal" role), and that plus the co-operative game pops her as a "dominant" player (along the designer, of course).

while i do thank chris for backing me up, i think i should be a touch more specific about why i feel the way i do since you made some valid points ariel.(this is far better than if we just throw hate around like a-holes) 1. when i said becca is trying to hard to "be cool" i mean that she is clearly saying phrases that are not part of her normal personal vocabulary, and she is putting far more effort and energy into what she say's than is natural. every time she speak's it sounds very forced and exaggerated, like a parent trying to sound enthusiastic about something their kid likes despite the fact that the parent neither knows nor cares about the subject.(just look at her jokes at the start & end of the tutorial) 2. ariel, you pointed out that connie mentioned not being a regular gamer. this did not change the fact that she clearly did not care to be playing, and through out most of the game seemed bored/disinterested with the whole production. frankly it would have been better to get just about anybody else in her seat, rather than have her negatively effecting the mood of the whole video. on the other hand, andrew & liz clearly had a good time and were energetic and enthusiastic through out.

I echo Jo's response. Just pay attention to how Connie isn't even looking most of the time people are taking their turns or her half hearted applause at the end. Becca does not naturally talk the way she did through out this video.

Well games on tabletop where chosen by Will and his team because they liked them. Every other upload of this show features a game because the company selling it paid to have it on the show.

Robert McClory - Really? This game don't even reach a "medium" modern game complexity. It looks very accessible, thematic and most important, fuuun :-). Check it again and, if you enjoy this comic universe, give it a chance.

Ariel Claure It’s definitely beyond the medium rules complexity, perhaps not the modern day “medium” scale considering how absolutely convoluted other BGs can be. One can usually tell by the number of piece types. (Cards/tokens etc) Not as bad as some of the others I’ve seen here, but I look at the “kid bar”. That is, what can be taught to kids easily. I’m interested in bringing in new players to game nights/weekends. I’m just not a fan of the lack of elegance is all.
