Just wanted to say I bought this guitar this weekend from World Guitars in Stonehouse. It even had the low wind pickup option and I can see what you mean, clear with top end and perfect for the music I play. First time for me with a P90 and it's the sound I've been looking for. Pickup selector in the middle coil tap on and it's a special sound. Amazing guitar, neck, tone and build, lot of dosh but so much better than other big name guitars I own. Stunning. Keep on rocking everyone.🎸😎👍

Haeussel makes extraordinary pickups. I have a '59 in the neck and their TE Broad in the bridge of my Kirn Tele and it is glorious. Nik putting them in most of his instruments just lends credence to what I already knew about Harry's stuff. Top notch.

Hello Dan, Love the Krauster! Unbelievable! Could you tell us a bit more of the humbucker replacement. What was the output/impedance of the humbucker that you removed and what is the output/impedance of the humbucker replacement pickup? What kind of magnets? Thirdly: with the low output of the new humbucker can you or do you use the coil split? Love the channel! Love the humor and the insights!

I remember when I first saw the Krautster a few years back, I was absolutely awestruck. To sound somewhat arrogant, I felt like it was made just for me. Obviously I knew it wasn't, but the satin finish, aged hardware, humbucker/P90 configuration were bang on. It was the type of guitar I didn't even know was possible until I saw it. Sadly I can't imagine myself ever owning one. They're way out of my league in terms of cost, and they never come up used. Reverend and the new Yamaha Revstar range have come close to replicating the Krautster in terms of styling and features, but they're affordable and more available.

Reverend Double Agent OG, (and a few other models), has the same pick up configuration, very cool bass contour pot, 12" radius neck, and a Korina body, for probably half the cost. Krauster does look and sound sweet, however.

Dan! That color finish on your Huber K2 is just fantastic! Here's a true story! I bought my first Huber about 4-1/2 years ago and it was a Huber K2 Goldtop! I loved it as much as anything I've owned but ended up trading it for a Collings 290! I regretted selling it as time passed and promised I would get myself another one down the road! Well that time came I ordered another Huber K2 with a set of the Haussel 1957 PAF HB's in it in the copper finish! I'm ashamed to say that I ended up trading it for another Collings as well! (Collings are the only other electrics that I swear by their build quality,tones and playability) Well guess what I'm sending the Collings 360 back to the dealer where I traded my Huber K2 and getting it back next week! What I really wanted to share with you and everyone else is how unfortunate is it that you don't totally and truly appreciate a really fine electric like the Huber K2 or for that fact any of Nik's Huber model guitars until you don't have them anymore! I will absolutely not under any circumstance get rid of my Copper Huber K2 when it is sitting in my "Mancave" by the end of next week! I'm betting that you agree with me 100% on my opinions and view point of the quality,feel and playability of your Huber K2! On another note I finally heard a demo of the D&M drive pedal and it could be the overdrive/boost pedal that I've been waiting on for a long time! I really think Robert nailed some amazing tones with the overdrive and boost circuits and I'm seriously considering the purchase of this unique pedal! What is your and Mick's take overall on it since you've had a chance to spend some time playing it! :-) I'll post a demo video of my Copper Huber K2 as soon as I get it back next week and re-post it on your youtube channel if you don't mind or I'll just post it on mine probably! Cheers, Mac Baker

What color finish are you getting your Krautster in and did you stay with the standard HB/Bridge and P-90/Neck pickups that come in Huber K2 or did you opt for a different pickup configuration! I got a set of the 57 Haussel HB's in my Copper K2 that come in the Huber Orca 59! They are a lower output PAF style humbucker and they sound excellent! :-)

Sam tell me in your own words what stands out to you on the Earth Drive overdrive pedal! I have listened to the clips available on it and really like how amp-like the overdrive you get is as it doesn't seem to alter your basic amp tone or color it like most the majority of overdrive pedals do when you engage them! I am running a killer JTM45 Bluesbreaker style combo that has wonderful organic overdrive on its own but I would like to have a great low-medium gain overdrive pedal to bump it with when I'm running it cleaner and not already breaking up or getting that early marshall low-gain crunch! Do you have any demo's that you have done with your Earth Drive pedal? Would love to see some pictures of your new Huber K2 with that Sunburst finish on the top! :-) (Y) Regards, Mac Baker

Maybe it's the Eb or just the way you have it dialed (or because I'm used to your telecaster) but that doesn't sound bright to me at all. If anything, it really channels Mark Knopfler's '59 LP. At least at the beginning of the video for SURE. Killer sounds, as always!

Really like the addition of the guitars & gears segments! Any specifics on your "high action"? Are we talking SRV territory, read somewhere like 7/64 E and 6/64 e at 12th fret? I live around 4/64 E and 3/64 e with 10s, and just a hair of neck relief. Decent guitars let me get away with this with no/minimal buzzing.
@ThatPedalShow
@ThatPedalShow 7 жыл бұрын
+aliceyellowdog No. Dan would need to measure it, although inches make no sense to us. Mick's Strat is about 2.2mm on the bottom E string, measured between the top of the 12th fret and the bottom of the string. Fair bit of relief. Not much buzz. Cheers!

one more question regarding the P90... what potentiometer is it running through a 250K or a 500K? And if it is a 500K does it get regulated or take the whole 500K? If you're into measuring it and worrying about the difference it makes, you might be down a rabbit hole, so to speak. You might know that humbuckers can be a little closer to the strings than single coils, that with vintage-style Strats, having them slightly angled so the treble strings are closer is what most people do. Other than that, I've never really done anything other than what the manufacturers suggest, or how they come as standard. With Strats they can't be too close to the strings (neck pickup especially) as you can get wolf notes, but you'll soon know if that is happening. That's as much as I know - certainly never measured it!

I have a Yamaha SA2200 and it was sounding "wolfy" and I lowered the pickups and wow it changed the sound so much...better that is. The SA2200 has alnico V pickups in it. It's a great guitar and now it sounds great. Thanks for the reply.

Ohh my God why did you never show us that flamed neck?!?! so beautiful man! So is it a solid body or chambered? Almost sounds like in between a Gibson Les Paul and the 335, super resonant with a lot of balls

+Pedro Schoenwetter Isn't it though? Nice description. It's also got a little bit of Junior about it. You should hear it loud. Oh mama (this is Mick by the way). I think really awesome guitars show their real quality at proper volume.

You're absolutelly right mate! Tks for the great job, i learned more with you guys in one year, than in my whole life of playing, and not only about pedals, but about guitars too and the most important thing, about sound, the "low ends", "high mids", "frequêncies", it was all a mistery to me and now i'm definetelly improving my tone and my ears

It's nice to know that entonates well, because with that bridge you don't get a lot of options right? hehe

+Pedro Schoenwetter Mick here. On a semi serious note, people just worry too much about intonation. It's all a compromise anyway, plus your fret height and finger pressure make soooooo much difference to how the thing plays. I've got this weird thing that when I use a guitar tuner, none of my damn guitars are in tune. In a different universe, I've heard Guthrie playing stuff that's just blown me away, while we're videoing or whatever. Then he'll play a chord at the end, and his guitar is a mile out. He intonates as he plays. Back down on planet earth (and talent), we all do it to a certain degree. Obviously intonation really does matter. But... close enough is close enough.... for the crap we play. ;0)

Would you say that bridge adjustments are more significant as one wanders into unusual tunings? That seems to be the case for me.

They have mentioned before in a video that they try to play more 'usual/accessable' guitars for the show hence the strat/tele/335 even though those are fancy versions. :)

"It’s such a bright guitar" - uses super dark overdriven tone, so nobody can hear it. Just kidding, sounds great and I love Nik’s guitars. The Krautster II is very high on my "next guitar to buy list". Your tone here is still too dark for my taste. I like a high cutting-through-the-mix tone better. But anyway, it’s all preference.

I love it I really do but the body is just too big for me. Why so big? Some of us have neck issues etc.why did u change the bridge pup? Too powerful? I missed what u said. Gotta go back now n find it. 😖 ok so u didn't like the very hot bridge pup? I would love it. It comes in at 16k. And the neck as u said is huge. Too big for me. Beautiful, cool looking guitar. I'll have to enjoy it from a distance.

Hello! And thanks for the super thanks. It's here, gets used occasionally, but Dan's 75-per-cent-of-the-time-guitar is his red CS Tele. Then his 62 SG/Les Paul, then the 65 Tele.... then everything else. Cheers!
