FILM DESCRIPTION:
While still a teen himself, Donny (Adam Sandler) fathered a son,Todd (Andy Samberg), and raised him as a single parent. On Todd's 18th birthday, Donny cut the youth loose. After years of estrangement, the older man shows up unexpectedly on the eve of his son's wedding day, sending the young man's life into a tailspin. Donny wants desperately to reconnect with Todd, but he must now deal with the repercussions of the bad parenting he exhibited in the past.

I had a football coach in high school who was in the marines and he acted just like this lol. Same sense of humor that consisted of threats that were poorly disguised as jokes or just straight up yelling in your face. He mentioned that he was a drill instructor at some point in his military career and wanted to do something similar. So instead of yelling at 18 year old recruits he literally got out the military just to be yelling at high school kids wtf

I think most of you in the comments are missing the fact that all those inaccurate details including what he says about a revolver having a clip was intended, because as we later figure out hes not really a marine, but even when i first saw this i didnt see the twist at the end coming at all. Good subtle writing like that is splendid.

The script was written by the creator of 'Happy Endings', so one of the best comedy writers working at the time. It's one of the best Adam Sandler comedy scripts, straight up. It's literally auteur-comedy and you're to stupid to realize it. This is "high brow, low brow".

I never really got the whole "brother threatens bf" cliche. I mean, is the first thing you want to say to your sister's boyfriend really a death threat? Have some faith in your family, assume she found a nice guy and set te foundations for a good relationship, give him a shot. Only if he breaks that trust should you do anything. Because guess what? Couples talk. At least healthy ones, and if it is the case then your sister will be pissed, and you're the asshole.

I know it's a comedy, but I mean in real life, like there are a lot of actual guys that are this level of possesive with their sisters. I used to be friends with some siblings, older brother and younger sister, and she had problems actually getting a boyfriend (being kind of cute, nice to be around, etc) because everytime she went on a date with a guy hig brother made a threat, and it was specially hard for her because they were in the same social circles (small town, same school).

how about the new guy in her life tries to convince her brother about the relationship. it's maybe hard but if you get through it. you could belong to his family. if your goal is to marry her and they should have met before the engagement
