It cracks me up that a lot of people hate projectile characters haha! It's fair that they hate them for sure, but I tell you now, just as hard as it is going against them, they're also hard to win with. When was the last time you saw one in a grand final? I think Chanel used both Akuma and Eliza and they both got owned by Knee's Bryan. They do high damage but they're also easy to punish too.

Give us back Ganryu so that Saint won't have to play his lifeless Jack anymore

I was watching Knee fight two really good Geese players on his stream and I was thinking: Harada actually has created a blueprint for a whole new fighting game with these 2D characters. These are the first characters in history to fully utilise the strenbths of both 2D and 3D fighting. usually these hybrids are 2D fighters with 3D graphics. It's kind of amazing.

I don’t think I hate any Tekken characters design wise. But I hate fighting Steve, because he’s so fast and manages to keep himself really tightly guarded (like any good boxer should so kudos on the programmers). I also hate fighting Lily for her fakeouts, evasions, and unorthodox timing. But I’ve been playing Tekken since 3 (I’m 20 now) and in all that time the only character who I’m still actively afraid of if he’s used by a master is Eddy Gordo. Not often you find people who devote time to learning him, but I’ve had all of my mains/favorites laid out by an exceptional Eddy player in the past. It’s horrific I’m traumatized.

That bryan cosplay at 2:11 is dope though.

I agree with that dude. I hate fireball characters. I love the original tekken because of the close combat martial arts fighting. Altho the later installments have them too they were kept to a minimum but this time its just too much. Still a fun game tho

My least favourite characters are Lili, the bears, and Lucky Chloe. Even as someone who plays Chloe a tad bit, I have to say that her high damage output with combos is undeserved, since the combos are very, very easy to pull off, and come out of almost nowhere with her weird launchers. At least in my opinion.

I'm very surprised no one said Devil Jin. As a DVJ player, I will have to admit, his hell sweep chip is pretty disgusting and fast when you fall to it. Albeit not safe, you will most likely fall to it most of the time.

Like many mentioned, forme it has to be Akuma, Geese and Eliza. I've never liked Street Fighter, never liked the idea of super bars, chip damage, projectiles etc. I've played Tekken since the very first game on PS1 to get away from all that. And now we have 3 monsters who can do all that shit and deal 70+% off a single move if they have meter.

My main problem with Tekken 7 is that is more of an "half Tekken" game than an full one like the previous tittles, the game lacks several stample characters from the franchise, i hope that in Tekken 8 or Tekken Tag Tournament 3 will feature all the chatacters of the franchise including the new ones.

Besides of Akuma and Geese I hate Noctis, Gigas and Bob. Everyone else are either okay in my eyes or are characters that I like. And yes, that includes Lucky Chloe who gets lot of hate from many people for no good reason.

Nobody said noctis. Maybe only because he doesn't have meter and extremely high damage. Geese and Akuma all have viable death combos. Eliza is situational sometimes

I think Saint said it best. T7 is pretty balanced overall - some characters have super high risk/high reward scenarios (Akuma, Lucky Chloe)... but once you know what to look out for they are pretty straightforward to deal with (last time anyone made top 8 at a major with Chloe?). Most of the answers about who they hate were simply characters they couldn't figure out or couldn't block mixups :)

The problem I have with them is that only 1 guy gave a legit argument as to why Geese, Akuma and Eliza are hated. Because of their damage. Saying "is not tekken" is lazy, because you completely forget Noctis at that point.

Majin spoke the truth. Other dudes hated characters due to unpredictability coz they are too stupid. Or orientations. But an elite gamer like Majin saw past these and kept it professional.

And Even Still, Tekken 7 is the most balanced fighting game in the FGC. Every character is Viable at a high level.

Think the hate for Jack and Xiaoyu were the most well elaborated cases for sure, especially with Xiaoyu. "It's like you can't play regular Tekken" really does sum up what it feels like to go on the defensive against her, and it's been the case for like three times now. And Lil Majin would know about the headaches of Jack. lol The hate for the projectile guest characters would be more valid imo if the characters in question were breaking Tekken 7 horrifically at the competitive level or something but as of EVO 2018 that doesn't seem to be the case at all, so the hate seems to be more just that they're "not Tekken characters" which is a bit silly to be because that was kind of the point of the guest characters, but to each their own. Everything else is just preferential and it's all good, but who the hell hates on Yoshimitsu's weirdness? Get outta here with that. lol

Been playing since Tekken 2 and I really dont see what's so wrong with 2d characters on the game. The only things i really see wrong with it is that Akuma can spam his warp thingy and you literally cant do anything against it. But other than that it's not too bad. Keep your range, sidestep and punish. Once I started playing Geese I realized that it's really not that bad. The catch with 2d characters in tekken is that it's hard as hell to win with them. Poor backdashes, poor sidesteps, etc. Notcis on the other hand; a tekken character; can zone just like a 2d character except you can barely sidestep it and its piss easy to win with him. Why is no one hating on noctis?

I always love Yoshimitsu but I donno if im just rusty on my Tekken skills, for some reason in T7, he is such a hard character to learn. In tekken 3,4,5 he was awesome to control but T7, so hard to pull off the moves I want.

For me it’s kaz. I play Jin so it’s not like I hate mishima’s but you never forget the first time you get uf4 spammed by kaz in blue ranks. That’s where Tekken boys become Tekken men, very jaded “why do I play a game that pisses me off?” Type of Tekken men. Plus the entire 50/50 gameplay just becomes “is this kaz gonna hellsweep me or ewgf me because he does literally nothing else.”

Geese imo is the best guest character I've seen in a fighting game. I don't get why those people hate 2D characters. I presume it's because there was always this rivalry between 2D and 3D so they just kinda have to hate them. They aren't that strong tbh. Devil jin, Jack 7, Dragunov, Paul, Kazumi are way stronger when you look at the tiers. Noctis on the other hand can zone in tekken 7! But no one says his name cause there is no meterbar when you play him, even though he has a sort of fireball. I bet those people wouldn't mind seeing Goku as a guest character throwing kamehamehas and spirit bombs at people. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I find it kinda disappointing hearing "they don't belong in Tekken". As a 2D and 3D fighting game fan I'm happy to have them all together in one game.
