Agreed. Never seen that penalised before. Normally you would have to see the player completely change position to be penalised, here he just moved one arm. Ridiculous.

Did I miss something from this game where Ireland had Wales under immense pressure for the whole of the first half give or take 5 minutes and had to soak up 15min pressure in the third quarter. Wales never looked like scoring and always looked like they would get hammered. It could've been more had two Irish tries not been scrubbed off. Just because Wales worked really hard doesn't mean they were actually looking like they'd get anywhere in the game. They lacked invention, skill and execution and completely without a game plan and simply went out to try and out work the Irish team which they completely failed to do. And O'Driscoll saying the score line flattered Ireland. The opposite is actually true. Is he pandering to his audience across the pond. Simply working hard does not a good performance make.

I think just because all of the media spun it as an annihilation and it wasn’t that they then overblow things. It wasn’t great from Ireland considering the standards they are setting but did it ever feel like they would lose. Not even close. Wales tackled well and were determined with a few new players looking quite good. In that regard there were some positives for them.

Anyone who actually watched that 4 point match saw a miracle save from Barrett to get a hand under the ball and save another NZ defeat to Ireland after the Irish mauled the NZ team over the try line like pushing kids out of the way. 9 times out of 10 that's a try. Sexton also decided to repeatedly turn down easily kickable penalties but hey, if you want to twist that narrow 4 point save into some dominant NZ win against a pack of chokers, that's your prerogative. Changes nothing either way. Maybe we should then say NZ choked twice in that WC right? Since they blew it against France AND SA on the back of losing a series to Ireland. NZ must be a right pack of chokers then right? And SA choked against Ireland in the pool stage and France choked against SA and then England choked against SA. Everyone in the WC choked right? Ya bunch of chokers 🤣🤣🤣

shame Paul - it's not a troll comment - just a reaction to hopelessly out of touch Irish fans who get all giddy after a home win over Wales and think that they are (still ) world beaters (trot out their one defeat in 22) and other hopium stats - it's so funny and you guys now refer to the NZ loss as a 4 point save ....wow - the only stat that you guys should keep in mind is 1 win in WC's for northern hemisphere and the rest are SA and NZ - when you actually understand that maybe the healing could begin - maybe Nienaber in Ireland could help - I see another quarter final smashup on the horizon... @@paulkirby2761

The yellow card was OK, in the maul he moved his arm under the ball when he shouldn't have. But the penalty-try was awarded on the grounds that "Wales would have scored without that illegal move" - which is nonsense, they never looked like being able to get the ball on the ground. For me, it was a game to nil and the only thing that saved Wales from a bigger defeat than Italy was that Ireland messes up at least two more tries.

@@TheGoodOldDays-IsNow Why is it nonsense? They got over the line anyway, and Beirne was there holding it up. That's the textbook definition of a penalty try. If anything, be thrilled that Ireland still won by 20+ points without getting out of 2nd gear.

@@Hezzoran395 Agreed, he was over the line, but there was no way of knowing if Beirne's hand was the only one under the ball when they went to ground. Once they all get up from such a tangled mess, you can never be sure what happened. That was my take on it and I was more concerned about the Irish performance than the Welsh. I disagree with your statement "... without getting out of 2nd gear". Before Ireland scored the first try, Wales had them rattled, the Irish team looked frustrated. They were trying their best to score and that young Welsh team read every move. Bundi Aki's statement after the game said as much. The Irish team still has work to do! I was looking at another review video yesterday, and one of the comments read "Northern hemisphare rugby is crap". Right now, I think Ireland is the only team with a chance to prove that wrong, but not if they play like they did yesterday.

I predicted a 35 point win by Ireland and only hoped that our lineout would stand up. We got a penalty try that the actual culprit cancelled out later but it was a good game, better than expected from a Welsh point of view. Our pack is tenderloin at the moment , it's a shame that by the time they are ready that they'll have a new back division.

Was it flattering to Ireland. Yes wales were tougher than expected but the Irish lineout misfired a few times which was self inflicted and that was a very very questionable penalty try. It could very easily been a 40 plus to zero with a bit more precision and a bit of luck e.g the aki disallowed try.

Frawley is the best 10 in Ireland. Hes been tested in New Zealand and playing for Leinster. Hes a step up from Crowley who has talent but is not a good a player or athlete. Crowley has made a lot of mistakes so far for Ireland and Munster. Crowley looked very flat against an average Welch team. Hes been carried by the players around him.

Meh, it does and it doesn't. Because yes, there was more of a fight from Wales than the last 2x seasons, but in truth, they were still second best for the majority of this game. Their squad has potential, but is about 1 or 2x full seasons behind Ireland's in terms of development. The scoreline is accurate and reflective, but it just happened to take Ireland longer than they would have thought to get it.

At 17- 7 Wales twice were on ire try line having commited Irish defence through good multi phase play resulting in ire very narrow in defence on their own try line.. there was lots of space either side and Wales 10 should have demanded ball to go through the hands and score making it 17-14 including another opportunity shortly after but they didn't which was a huge missed opportunity.. that's the difference with ire who once they've got a side narrow in defence on or near opposition try line they move the ball with backs exploiting space and score .. it's simple and that's the differance.. Wales need more quality at decision making at 10..

English broadcasters are desperate to play down Irelands complete dominance of the six nations. It’s embarrassing. Every team is allowed to be poorer in some games than others if they still win. 31 points isn’t a fluke, particularly when down to 14 men.

Scoreline flattered Wales at the end of the first half. Ref let them away with at least one yellow card. Ireland over complicated a bit but to be fair to Wales they had a well organised defence. PS Ireland worked all the way up the field to score the last try with 14 men.
