What’s The Purpose of ServiceNow Micro-Certifications?

Within the ServiceNow ecosystem there's some pretty strong opinions on both sides of the fence as far as ServiceNow Microcertifications are concerned. On the one side, some people have gone as far as questioning why someone would even post about their microcertification achievement on social media...as if it doesn't carry any weight and it's worthless.
In this video, I explain the purpose, the various exam types you will come across, and discuss the professional and financial benefits of obtaining ServiceNow Micro-Certifications. If you're employed or thinking about employment with a ServiceNow partner organization, you'll definitely want to watch this as the partner program has been revamped for 2024.

And yet another pro tip from you Allen :) Now that I see that the predictive intelligence, performance analytics and the virtual agent MCs can help unlock both ITSM pro and CSM pro, I will focus on that really soon. I already have the CSM and ITSM mainlines, so it could be a good way to step up my game even more.

Thanks again for another great video! I personally really enjoy simulators rather than questions for these micro-certifications. It pushes the hands-on approach and help cement what was learned during the courses. It also gives a more structured way to test the acquired knowledge even more than playing on my pdi.

Another banger. The VA micro-cert has got to be one of the most challenging. As a former teacher, I always included performance tasks (eg simulators) as part of unit assessments as they're the most reliable indicator of enduring knowledge, whereas, multiple choice question exams are the least.

Thanks, Kali! That’s neat to hear of how you used and saw performance task type assessments in your past career field. I’m glad that ServiceNow really started to pivot a lot of the micro-cert assessments from multiple choice over to simulators and have even added numerous simulator courses for other topics as well (to help sink in that knowledge).

It will be interesting to see how 2024 shakes things up if partners are required to carry micro certs too!

Definitely! I can't say but so much because I believe all of that information is protected by partner agreements, but yep...some partners will struggle with some of the new requirements (especially smaller firms that were higher partner tier levels).

Great video. I had dane thoughts of school about micro certifications. Fortunately after this video, I caught a mistake I was making while learning which I'll correct and correlate those micro certification to other mainline as well. I have request though - please start a series of video on ServiceNow Architect.

Hello mate, last year service now gave free vouchers for CSA exam Is there any such opportunity coming in future? I am desperately in need of getting the certificate as I think it will be very helpful for me but it's bit costly 😢

Hi, ServiceNow has randomly done "promotions" like that, but previously it was because 1) They launched a new version On Demand, so it was to get people to try it out and 2) They redesigned the system administrator course and adjusted the content, so again they wanted people to try it out. If you're employed with a ServiceNow partner, you get the CSA course and voucher for free. Otherwise, unfortunately, as of right now, you have to pay. The course is $300 and the voucher is $300. I will say that if you're passionate about the platform and this certification is holding you back from getting a job. You will make that money back many times over and all it took was $600 to get started. You can also see if your employer or future employer will cover the cost of the course and voucher through "professional development" funds.

@@Allenovation actually I am a student now but earlier I used to work for Accenture (which is a service now partner), I realised this bit late and missed the opportunity of grabbing the voucher 🥲 Anyways thanks mate
