There's more to finding a ServiceNow job than taking a training course and obtaining a certification. The misconception is that the market is blazing hot, the salaries are high, and there's jobs for everyone. When you're searching and interviewing for a job as a person new to the ServiceNow ecosystem, some will soon realize that it's not that easy. You can't change the fact that you have little to no experience, but what you can change is HOW you go about searching for a job to better your chances. You can also change HOW you interview beyond just studying interview questions.
Learn how to find a ServiceNow job as efficiently and effectively as possible by watching The Beginner's Guide to Finding a ServiceNow Job!

Hey Allen, Your content is so informative. I have my CSA since January of this year and recently attained my implementation specialists Cert (Itsm). However, I am finding that most admin roles are requiring minimum 2-3 years experience.
@Allenovation
@Allenovation 11 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for the feedback! I agree, most jobs posted do say 2-3 years of experience, but there are jobs more likely to hire someone will less depending on where you look (like I explained in the video). Don’t be afraid to still apply even with the years of experience listed. You obtaining your CIS-ITSM is a fantastic step and that alone helps set you apart from most who only have their CSA!

Fantastic video! Incredibly informative and succinct. There are so many elements summarized throughout the sections that I never even considered or learned about during my ServiceNow training. Question: I was CSA certified in 2022 but the certification expired before I could obtain any work. Would you recommend spending more money to retest and get certified before actually obtaining employment or should I wait until I’ve obtained a role in which I can climb up and gain experience to regain my CSA? Thank you for the great tips and for all that you do, good sir.
@Allenovation
@Allenovation Жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the support and feedback! In regard to your certification, I would highly recommend doing whatever you can to keep it current and not let it expire unless you’re absolutely certain you won’t be working with the platform in the future. That being said and without any other context as to how your current job search is going, I wouldn’t necessarily say that you have to go and obtain it again prior to getting a job. If you’re confident you can pass it again, you could attempt looking for a job without it since you already had it in the past however, if you’re looking at jobs with a partner, they would be more likely to either a) verify your certifications before offering the job or do so during the onboarding process or b) not provide reimbursement for it as they might expect or think you already have it. So either way, the cost could come to you (which is why I mentioned what I did in the beginning). You’re in a bit of a different situation than people truly new to the platform. Best of luck in your search!

@@Allenovation Thank you for the prompt helpful response! I have one last question if that’s alright. I completed a 10 week ServiceNow boot camp and obtained my CSA in 2022. I spent months afterwards looking for a job and admittedly making virtually every mistake you highlighted in your video. For someone who has been certified in ServiceNow but lacks any salaried work experience with the platform, what positions or approaches should I most consider? Is business analyst my best chance? Thank you again!
@Allenovation
@Allenovation Жыл бұрын
I tried my best to cover this in the video, but yea, you may want to consider joining an organization who has ServiceNow, but you start on their help desk or as a business analyst to get your foot in the door. Otherwise, look for consulting firms instead of customers and see if they’re looking for “junior system administrators”. The word “junior” is another good search term to use.

Great video! Thank you! Would you know where to find recruiters?
@Allenovation
@Allenovation Жыл бұрын
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! For recruiters, you can definitely find them on LinkedIn and follow the hashtag: ServiceNow (so #ServiceNow) and you'll see many other there mentioning that they help people find jobs, others post jobs directly, etc. I would recommend also searching for "ServiceNow Recruiters" and consider working with those organizations for assistance with your job search. Best of luck!

I just heared about servicenow last week i was recommended to take some courses on youtube before going in for the CSA cert. I did computer science in the university but didnt graduate (for some reasons) but i have some expireience as a developer. Should i take the developer role or administrator ? Can anyone suggest the best path i can follow ?
@Allenovation
@Allenovation 6 ай бұрын
Hi and welcome to the ServiceNow Community! It's recommended to first pursue the ServiceNow Administration path, as you learn the fundamentals of the platform in this phase. Then, you'd transition into learning about developer capabilities, etc. For that, it's highly recommended to use ServiceNow's Now Learning platform, which is where all their training content is located. You'd want to focus on the ServiceNow Administration Fundamentals (SNAF) course, first. I wouldn't personally recommend using KZfaq or any other 3rd party site when studying for any certification exam. These 3rd party sites do have some great videos that help reinforce SN skills, but again, when studying for an actual certification exam, I wouldn't use these sites as the "exam dumps" and other things like that that are provided are either obtained illegally, violate copyright laws, and usually contain incorrect answers that can guide you in the wrong direction.

Hi, if you’ve done development for 2 years with ServiceNow, you’d want to think to yourself if you’ve enjoyed that, so far? If so, and you like front-end development, then you may want to look into Service Portal/Employee Center development as your area of focus. UI/UX would be areas to also look into. If you’ll stay within the ServiceNow realm though, you’d at least want to be aware of the foundational aspects of the platform and still stay up to date with the latest release, etc.

how is the job market now ? is it still hot for junior talent?
@Allenovation
@Allenovation Ай бұрын
Hi. In the current state, I would not say the ServiceNow job market is "hot" for those with minimal experience. It's quite competitive as RiseUp/NextGen and other individuals who happen to land in the ServiceNow ecosystem are all hoping to land their first job. Overall, for ServiceNow, the market is still hot, but obviously companies would prefer more experienced talent. This is why it's extremely important to really differentiate yourself and if you can't somehow grab more real-world ServiceNow experience, then you need to do other things (like pursuing additional certs i.e., CIS-ITSM, micro-certs, engaging with the SN Community, practicing what you're learning in your PDI, etc.).
