Thawing a Frozen System-HVAC Service Call

In this video we run across a system that is frozen solid. Trying to throw it quickly, we run the furnace in the middle of summer. There’s also some more problems along the way. Please like and subscribe

happend to me, no air coming out the vents, everything worked fine, outdoor condenser was frozen solid like in this video, & turning the heat on for 30 min fixed it.

Great video. My suction line is frosting up. Indoor temperature is 75F and outdoor ambient is 70F. It's r410a with low suction pressure. The low side saturation temp is 28F. I am getting low superheat but normal subcooling with fixed orifice. Filter is clean and air flow is good. The coil has no frost but frosting just before service valve at outdoor condenser. All amp draws are good. I tried adding some refrigerant but the low side pressure would not rise. I just can't figure this one out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Who would ever think that a unit frozen solid would have a capacitor so weak that it shouldn't even be running in the first place? That compressor was getting a one-two punch. But at least the ice was keeping it cool from the weak capacitor overheating it. 😂👌 It's amazing how much abuse those compressors can actually take.

Freeze protection? It’s a zoning system it shouldn’t freeze salad only freeze a little and shut down when it needs to

I notice every tech has a problem with Goodman. Who is picking Goodman? Techs are. I have an inside unit (I don't remember the name) from 1993. The tech said it was too old to fix and I need a new Goodman. I touch the door and the heater came on. I replace the door switch and it work just fine all winter. Why would I buy a new heater when a $25 part fixed my 29 yod heater?

Safety standards. Functionality. Electric parameters. Warranties. I mean really bud it’s just simple logic lol. Why would you buy a new Chevy when your old Chevy can be fixed for cheaper? Because it’s a new Chevy, that’s why. They’re all gonna have issues eventually, it’s a machine.

@@DakGeorge I'm still running the old heater. The tech lied about not being able to fine parts. I took a picture of the computer and motor. I found a new computer board on ebay and my local a/c store has a motor. I'm going to try to make it through one more winter before I buy a new Goodman heater.

I'd guess u put almost 3lbs in it, what happens when he calls u back with it iced up again and he's pissed about all the money he spent with no leak found

He said the customer signed up a maintenance service... I guess that means that the customer will pay a monthly fee and that will cover any of the future problems with the unit...

Yes. But it wasn’t low enough to make the break at the low pressure switch
