I have yerba mate on the daily on the go. As an Argentinian mate is the best, and yes we just call it mate, not yerba mate. Calling it yerba mate is the equivalent of calling coffee, coffee beans. Although correct at times, it is not necessary.

For the caffeine Yerba Mate is #1 for that workout. 2. Black Tea especially caffeinated naturally (Ooolong) 3. Green tea extract is good for the workout too. I would recommend Celestial seasoning Morning Thunder Yerba Mate is excellent or Guayaki brand Yerba Mate cold can i look for as well.

As Yerba Mate beverage you could brew the Chimarrao version, which is basically, very fresh, green, almost moss like powdered version of Yerba Mate, called Erva Mate. Mostly, not every time it is unsmoked, and it contains huge amount of polyphenols, because it is vacuum sealed quickly after harvesting and processing. What really is a downside, is the preparation, for which you may use a different type of spoon - bomba bombilla (brazilian type of metal filtration spoon), and it requires a bit of patience, since you have to prepare it in a special way to minimize the clogging. This version of Yerba offers lower amount of caffeine, in comparison to traditional Yerba, such as Argentinian, Paraguyan and Uruguayan, which are the most potent - Leo Messi always have a stash of them before his play - he swears his match on that thing.

Thomas question regarding the green tea study: 1. How much green tea was the dose of capsule equivalent to? It seems to be an amount that would not be realistic (from my understanding 3 cups or more) 2. The control group had corn flour, which of course contains calories and carbohydrates - do you think this could affect fat utilisation due to these factors? I’d love to see a study replicated with a capsule size equivalent of a cup of green tea and a control capsule which something such as stevia to see the realistic result

It's very easy to make cold green tea, I make it the same way I make black iced tea and blend in allulose, creatine, taurine and eaa. You can pretty much customize it any way you want. Just blend in whatever while it's hot before cooling it off.

It really depends whether you have already a diet which is high in oxalates, and how much water do you drink everyday. Not everyone is prone to getting oxalate stones, and Mate in moderation is a healthy alternative to coffee, with more upsides, than downsides.

You might be over-brewing it which is very easy to do and causes excessive bitterness. I wait 2 minutes after the water has boiled, then dip the bag a couple times in some spare hot water (which I then discard), then brew it for 2 minutes max and not a second longer. Or maybe you would need a sweetener regardless, I don't know.

Studies: Drink green tea and yerba mate all the time! They're great! East Asians and South/American natives: You don't say! Americans are so obsessed with coffee that they miss out on the nuance of teas. It's so sad. I drink nothing but tea and water. No cream, no sugar, no nothing. Maybe some milk for milk tea. And instead of mate I drink guayusa occassionally which is similar but doesn't taste as harsh as mate. Even now as we watch this video I'm drinking green-lavender tea using my loose leaf green tea and some lavender buds to mimic that lavender maccha latte they have at starbucks >> It's quite good, honestly. Tea mixed with tisane (herbal brew) is like peak tea lmao
