Jasmine getting psychological help and becoming a healthy person. Is the outcome I’m sure her parents and brother would have wanted. People are so quick to judge and hand out punishment’s. But we have to remember this was a 12 year old little girl, That had mental health issues. Then to make things even worse a 23 year old man decided to prey upon her Innocence. I’m glad she was able to be rehabilitated but I think it’s an outrage that she got this special treatment and Gypsy Rose didn’t. Gypsy was horrifically abused entire life by her mother and saw no other way out. She also didn’t physically do anything herself. I’m not saying Gypsy is all innocent because she’s not but she definitely deserves better.

Gypsy's boyfriend also agreed to do it because he "always wanted to see what it was like to kill someone". He also told Gypsy she would have to allow him to rape her as payment. She cried while her mom was being stabbed, and she went through horrendous pain while he violently raped her. So, yeah, Gypsy was definitely desperate to get away from her abusive mom. Jasmine is straight up a piece of crap that desired to kill her eight year old brother and laugh about it afterwards. She had absolutely no reason to kill her family. Gypsy had tried running away before, got caught, and was handcuffed to her bed and given no food and water for three days. Clearly Gypsy had an excuse whereas this psycho did not. That sick freak, Jasmine, and the abused girl Gypsy should have gotten opposite sentences.

There's also a good chance it was also because she was legally an adult while Jasmine was 12 and being groomed by an adult Compared to Gypsy though, this case just rubs me the wrong way with what they were both charged with...Like...it just feels quite wrong? I can't explain it? Maybe it's because, compared to Jasmine, Gyspy was done quite dirty since she met multiple doctors saying that even after her mom's murder, she didn't want to stand from her wheelchair since she was still worried what she would do to her...And she never got help for that. She should've at least got that, even if she got the same sentence

To give her the benefit of the doubt: If I were a murderer behind bars, (which I wouldn’t be), I would say anything for a chance to get out of jail. (meaning: her boyfriend) IMO: either way, the court of law determined that she was rehabilitated, and she was a child who got manipulated, gr**med, r*ped, and she admits to stabbing her little brother.- whether or not she laughed about it or not, we’ll probably never know. And as far as we know, she’s never reoffended. I will totally retract my statement if she ever reoffends, but I’d like to believe that there is some good in the world, and that rehabilitation *is* possible. Because she was *allegedly* not able to finish out the murder.

So true. I understand she was 12, and I guess you could say that she didn’t understand the gravity of the situation and thought by killing someone it feels like it does in the movies. I don’t think she realised what the implications of that are in real life. So I think that’s as part of it. But no matter how angry I got at my parents at 12 years old, I would never ever dream of killing them, let alone planning their murder and then carrying it out and acting like nothing had happened after. She is defiantly very mentally disturbed. And although the grooming wouldn’t have helped and would have just made that worse and distorted her reality ever more, she defiantly had deep rooted issues in the first place.

her latching to a friendgroup and subculture to fit in because she thought it was cool was very childish. and deciding that you dont like your family because they dont support your unhealthy relationship with an adult and planning to kill them is also a childish solution, most adults wouldnt think that way, because theyre more mature than that and would think of another solution, even the guy who was grooming her thought there was a better solution. if she never met this guy, and wasnt stopped from meeting him by her parents, then she would have no reason to feel badly towards them and plan to kill them. its really all the groomers fault

Personally think she was just spoiled rotton. It doesn't make your kid greatful & happy & loving...instead they just end up hating their parents. Seen it firsthand many times. Spoiled kids hate their parents even more than neglected abused kids do. I was beaten regularly as a kid while my younger sister was spoiled & could do no wrong. She's the most mean, cruel, miserable & jealous person I know. It did not serve her one bit & she hates & resents my parents more than I ever did. I've seen foster kids with severely dysfunctional parents who love their parents more than rich spoiled rotton brats do. Don't spoil your kids people. They will hate you for it. No doubt it was probably the first time she was ever denied anything & she turned into a straight up Monster to get her way.

No, but I can 100% believe it if we are talking 50 years ago. If Jay's MIL and her husband are happy together and it's a functional marriage, I don't understand why the MIL would need to "get out of there soon" considering they've been together for 50 years. I feel really heavily for this case. My life very easily could have ended up like this. I started getting groomed when I was 12, I was also into the alternative fashion as well. I shut myself off, stopped eating, was angry at the world. My parents tried separating him and I. I remember being so angry and kept trying to find ways around them. I had my phone taken away for months, at some point they talked about making me go to a different school. We both were in the same school system, he was 3 years older then me. I was in 6th grade, and he was in 9th. But we had met a year prior. So the age gap is normal when you are an adult. But he was in high school and I wasn’t even in intermediate. The school system threatened to call the authorities as well. It was a huge mess.

I tell you something, when whoever she's in a relationship with asked her the question "oh hey, so when do I get to meet your parents?" - I'd love to know how that conversation went. I'd imagine she reels off this backstory she's been given by the authorities and just plods on. Also to Hell with her extended family for being proud of her accomplishments. Because of this girl: their daughter, their son, their grandson, nephew, daughter-in-law, son-in-law etc have all been brutally murdered and they're acting as if she is a recovered alcoholic. She was incredibly toxic and manipulative. Jeremy actually had fetal alcohol syndrome and it was not the first time Jasmine had tried to kill her family. It was actually the third time, and she was finally successful. Her "innocence" never existed, and she didn't feel guilty about the murders, either. Her boyfriend before Jeremy had said she tried getting him to murder her family but he left her. Her family had moved from Ontario thinking getting a new and fresh start would help her as she had allegedly tried when they were there as well. The crown prosecutor wanted her tried as an adult and she should have been. Jeremy was also on so many drugs that night as well. She felt no guilt or remorse.

He was given laughably light sentence for multiple crimes because he was drunk - he only got 2 years for beating a 60 year old man to death. And the reason his case is so well known is because of a girl with the alias of Nayoung. She was 8 years old when he brutally attacked her and left her for dead. She survived thankfully but was left with lifelong injuries. The case is awful. The police didn't handle it right either...and when it went to trial, his lawyer argued that because he was drunk at the time, he wasn't of a sound mind. He got only 12 years and was released last year - and lives on the same street as Nayoung, he wasn't even relocated.

I still remember this case so vividly. The youth criminal justice act here in Canada is a joke. I'm a firm believer that if you're old enough to understand the consequences, you should be tried as an adult. At 12, you are VERY aware of the fact that murder is wrong. ESPECIALLY since she is the one who initiated the whole thing, she knew what she was doing. Yes, she may have been being groomed. Yes, she may have been influenced by a man twice her age. But at the end of the day, *he* isn't the one who proposed the plan, *she* was. The fact that she's out there and I could have walked past her in the street at some point makes me feel physically ill. It's great that she got the help she needed through therapy, but she should be spending her life behind bars. This wasn't just some petty crime or even just manslaughter - this was a premeditated triple homicide and should have been treated as such.

He was so innocent and she LAUGHED about it later. The fact that this girl is free and living her life, while poor Jacob never got to live his and it ended with him feeling frightened and betrayed. The fact that the murder was HER idea. Honestly it makes me feel so sick, I haven’t heard a case that made me feel this sick and I’ve heard A LOT. It is not fair that Jacobs life was taken away by Jazmin but she gets to live hers. I am ashamed that we even share the same name.

Jasmine should never of been allowed to rejoin society. She took away her little baby’s brothers life, his future. 3 lives was lost and she’s allowed to continue as if it never happened.

I don’t know how to feel about this. I’ve been listening to true crime since I was around Jasmine’s age(I’m in my mid twenties now) and while I’ve heard plenty of cases that have made me enraged, this is literally the first case that’s made me break down in tears. Her poor brother. I feel shitty feeling this way, but I don’t think she deserves to live, HAVE FRIENDS, and enjoy life. The last few moments of her younger brothers life were full of pain and terror, and it’s outrageously unfair that she’s able to live a happy life after causing such pain. I literally can’t comprehend the unconditional love that her family has.

my exact thoughts. she didn’t give her little brother the chance to live his life, why should she have that option??? she’s cold hearted and no matter whatever new identity she’s taken, she’ll always be that cold hearted murderer

I watched Bailey Sarian's video about this case, but now I'm rewatching it here cause I notice it's longer and after watching other videos of Eleanor's, I like how she goes into detail about things so I'm gonna hear about this case again (there's nothing to do here at work anyway lol). I listen to Eleanor's videos while I'm at work to pass the time

"It was too cruel to leave my little brother alive so I stabbed him in the chest and slit his throat while he pleaded for his life and choken on his own blood" IS a hot take. It also shows that whatever the fuck was wrong with this girl went deep, like her world view was screwed up. I hope she doesn't ever find any peace because she really doesn't deserve it. I hope she remembers what she did that night in vivid detail.

@@a.p.5342 I completely agree with you I never wanted to beat someone up more than her. Yep she deserves to be tormented until her last breath. But going on information about her, she probably still doesn’t care about what she did. So if she doesn’t care, thinking about it is not going to upset her.

I am really uncomfortable with Jasmine's "punishment". The grooming she went through was clearly sick and terrible but as a 12 year old she knew right from wrong. Her poor parents and beautiful younger brother.... their lives mindlessly snatched away and died so brutally. I get the rehabilitatuon argument but only for the sake of the public's safety, not for her. These laws are pretty bloody scary - to think that there are so few consequences for multiple murder of your own family just because of age. She doesn't deserve a clean slate, her family don't get a second chance of life 💔

I think the issue with the justice system, and why criminals reoffend, is because people think the justice system should be focused only on punishment, I agree criminals shouldn’t enjoy their stay, should should want to get out, but they should also be granted some resources so that they can stay out. You can’t just lock every single bad person up forever, because people ( not everyone but a lot) can change if you actually provide the tools to do it. Besides she was diagnosed with a disorder that would only get worse if she wasn’t monitored so it’s good that she was in an institution for atleast part of her sentence, otherwise she would have only worse.
