I was a kid when this happened. It woke us up. It was a rumbling that kept going. My mom said the water actually splashed out of the aquarium. I was young, but I can still remember riding down the freeway the next day and looking over at the unrecognizable locomotives, and wrecked rail cars everywhere. The locomotives were really just a dark spot of burned out black metal. There were rail cars thrown into the air quite far from the tracks, and the tracks were no longer straight. The rails were twisted and no longer connected, or it could have been the train was carrying rails for working on the track. I specifically remember rails twisted and sticking up. There is, or was a memorial that can be seen from I5 at the spot of the collision. The really sad part is there was another collision that happened in almost the same spot years later.

After watching several of your vids I'm surprised there isn't an emergency system in place where if a train ignores a red signal and proceeds through it an auto brake system is engaged on the track to stop the train.

The atsf train and sp trains being there is unrealistic considering that their lines don’t go near Washington at all.
