No it works. All questions that can control vehicle functions do not need an Internet connection. However general questions like that do as it gets them from the Internet just like Siri and Google assistant etc. The screen said online not available. Until the car is sold the service is not activated and if it was he was probably getting bad signal. There are plenty videos of people asking various general knowledge questions. It works! It just needs the Internet for that like EVERY OTHER ASSISTANT. The fact that doug didn't ask them about this is a face-palm.

As a Healthcare professional, I am sure the seat movements are for similar purpose as hospital mattress for bedridden patients: the shifting of pressure points allows for better blood circulation when one must be pressing against a surface for extended periods, such as long drives in the case of a car seat. This feature for bedridden patients is a real life saver as it prevents pressure ulcers, and even though you will never sit on a car as long as you might lay on a mattress, this feature sure sounds like it will help give your back and legs better circulation and thus less fatigue on longer trips. It think it's genius! Hope this helps those who wonder what this new Mercedes feature is for. 🙂

You know, here in Europe, the A class used to be a laughingstock, mocked for being ugly, overpriced and tremendously prone to rollover. An old time classic meme here was the A class having an additional set of wheels on the roof to fix the issue as an option. In all fairness, it was a poor attempt by Mercedes really failing to find a vibe to be a more casual, which is kinda preposterous with that kind of brand image and brand history. But recently, they really upped their game big time. I have the feeling that they want to directly compete with Volkswagen those days. Volkswagen went from the bottom-up in terms of price and features, while Mercedes seems to want to go the top-down way. At the moment here in France, they are marketting A class and B class like crazy, with a mantra about being Mercedes for actual people and not super rich, old people. I think that new A class is really nice in that prospect, directly targeting younger active potential customers, not in the market for an E or even a C class. There IS a market for people wanting some luxury in a compact car in Europe. The wealthiest people here live in city centers and not in the suburbs contrary to the USA. And since European cities are extremely compact compared to American ones, it's often a nightmare to go around and park with a full sedan. People with enough money don't want to be seen at a street corner with a Dacia Logan or Renault Twingo yet that market was not really properly targeted earlier. If Mercedes is able one day to have the luxury of an S class in a compact car, they'll win big time in Europe. For America, those cars will always be confidential I guess, since outside some rare densely populated places like NYC, there is still no real need for a compact car, as space is still plentiful.
@kentavirus2100
@kentavirus2100 4 жыл бұрын
over here in southeast asia, small cars are just great since parking is at a premium and usually really tight. more so for people living in an apartment with tight parking. they've always been easy to park but with the addition of modern tech, parking them almost becomes effortless. the only way it could get any easier from there is for the car to park itself.
@unconventionalideas5683

It’s obnoxious enough to deal with these issues in New York City, though, and the SUV mania is beginning to fade a little in the US, so this is decent for the US market, too.

I do a lot of work in a city with tight parking so it's small size is nice, and because of the AWD, it's been pretty good for the Minnesota winters. The tech is also a MAJOR improvement over the COMMAND system in my 2010 C-Class. Love the column shifter. Everyone has gone away from them since they seem "low tech" and make you feel like you are driving an old pickup, but its still the best way. Frees up valuable space in the console area, simple as hell and intuitive. Way too many modern luxury cars have unnecessarily complicated shifters that use buttons or touch dials... NO ONE ASKED FOR THIS. Lol they're neat on the showroom but i cant imagine having to parallel park with a touch dial shifter.

Hi @Doug DeMuro, I really enjoyed your review of this new A class. I wanted to point out one thing with regards to the " Hey Mercedes" test. When you were asking it about the giraffe, the reason it was not working is for online features to work, the car must first be connect to a Me Mercedes Connect account. This will enable the online search feature for "Hey Mercedes" and that was also shown on the the screen when you were asking it, it was displayed as "Online Services Currently Unavailable Please check your Mercedes me Settings." I tried the same question on my A class, once it was connected, and it worked. I am also able to ask it weather related questions. Again, I really enjoyed this review, and can't wait to see your GLE review.

I rented a 2020 Benz C class for 2 weeks in LA. It was a nice ride, but the infotainment system not being touch screen was odd. I also didn't like the stalk for the gear selector. After 2 weeks of driving I got use to it, but I still prefer a center type shifter. It's safety features were top notch. On our departure date, my girlfriend was getting off the 405, she was.... distracted and the auto breaking jarred me from my nap. Saved a front collision which is amazing. Especially with all of the spoiled brats driving their Benz while texting. It had ample power for a 4 cylinder and it made navigating SoCal traffic a breeze. Very responsive. When just puttering it around, it was quiet and docile, but when quick get up and go was needed, the turbo I4 really surprised me. It wasn't an AMG or Vette, throw you back in the seat experience. It was a snappy quick acceleration that will serve the average driver well. I really think the new Benz are an amazing bargain. I don't think I would own one for longer than 3 years, as i feel that the cost of the impending repairs would quickly add up. Trade it in for the new model. Rinse wash repeat.
