FYI. If you don’t want any delay when taking off, simply put the car in S mode for the transmission. The transmission will still shift automatically, but it will be much more responsive than leaving it in “D.” This works the same with Audi products as well.

As to BMW longevity, I have had several BMW's run beyond 200,000 miles. I had a 2006 325xi, and it was running well at 205,000 miles until a deer ran into it. I currently have a 2015 BMWi xDrive, which is about to hit 200,000 miles. I have been the only owner of that car and it still runs like it did when it was new.

When Sofyan mentioned the additional logo on the D pillar reminding people that its a BMW not to be mistaken as a Hyundai or Kia product --- as a Kia Stinger owner, that was actually great to hear lol.

I think the X2 is quite sharp though I prefer the base model with black on rocker panels and chrome trim around windows. As to the BMW badge on C pillar, I like it as it harks back to the days of the old BMW CS coupes that had those badges on C pillars. There is a style precedent for this. BMW didn't just pull it out of it's ___.

Thanks for this review. In part because of this review, I recently replaced my beloved 2007 Audi A3 3.2 Quattro Sportback with a 2022 BMW X2 M35i. I agonized over what car to replace my A3 with, since Audi does not make a Quattro hatchback anymore. Super happy with my decision. This thing is f#%&Ing fast! The ride quality is exceptional, and the interior is super nice. Although I can tell it sits a little higher than my A3, when you put the suspension in sport mode, I can take it on the twisties pretty much as fast as my A3.

I loveeeee what they did with this. Sounds and looks great and i’m glad they removed the black plastic and painted those panels. Glad it’s part of the 2 lineup. However, I do hate the shifter and the fact that BMW even offers the X2 as a FWD.

Radio/track skip is handled by the right scroll wheel on the steering wheel. Scroll up and select for next track. Scroll down and select for previous track. Also allowed you to scroll radio stations.

FYI, the instrument cluster isn’t digital. The speedometer, tachometer, and fuel gauge are analog gauges. They do sorta look digital because they’re behind a black panel, but they’re physical gauges. Also, the X2’s heated steering wheel switch is on the side of the steering column, not the front of the steering wheel like some BMWs. One thing I hate about the X2 backup camera is that the video delay is very noticeable. I’m personally very disappointed with our X2. It drives great and we get lots of compliments on its look. It’s also very functional and we have four people for road trips without issue. However, the relationship between the seats, door opening, and instrument panel is weird. After over a year of owning the vehicle, neither of us have been able to find the “right” seating position. And then the seatbelt isn’t height administrable and is mounted super high in the car. It constantly rubs against our necks.

Lost me with front wheel drive BMW. Unfortunately few new BMWs are “The Ultimate Driving Machine” I’ll keep my 1998 318Ti It’s a hatchback and 4 cylinder with Dinan performance upgrades. And it’s a great back road barn burner an absolute blast to drive hard.

It doesn't snow a lot in the DC area in the Fall. In fact, it's extremely rare for it to snow here in the Fall. . It does rain infrequently here. Also, don't use a rag to wipe down your car. Or do what he did. You will scratch up your car. There are better sources of information for detailing.

BMWs are usually criticized for having the same interior for all their models. I guess that isn’t the case here.

The mirror folds when you lock the car and either long press the lock in button on the key fob or long touch the ridged area on the keyless access door handle.

It would be interesting to see a “head to head” comparison between some other vehicles within the approximate similar price point. I immensely enjoy these reviews and I am mindful to avoid sacrificing the “good for the perfect” is a challenge prior to paying down $40K for these kinds of vehicles - avoiding buyer’s remorse is important, (for me!). Newer BMWs aren’t that bad for reliability. We have a 14 X5 and it has 50,000 and we have no problems so far.

I'll take this over the new M135i any day. At least we have normal proportions here and something that doesn't look like a Ford Focus or some kind of Kia

The gesture control comes in the roof lights so the sensor as you said in the screen is false info, these sensors is for the screen dimming brightness.

The folding mirrors have to be coded to fold by either the key fob or the comfort access on the exterior door handle. Also the C pillar roundels are a throwback to the 70s 3.0 CS coupes. I have a F48 X1 which I drive with the sport button on at all times. Really can’t stand driving it in either eco mode or comfort mode. Really wish BMW would offer a M35i version of the X1.

The BMW badge on the D-Pillar has something to do with harking back to an old model from the 80's that had it. I think the M1 had it for example. But I agree it's dumb.

you got some surprising prejudices: about women taste. Or maybe my wife has a strange taste and you are right. My wife said no to the X3, as too large and practical. For boring men, she said. She said yes to this car (and we bought it), as it is smaller (easier parking), but higher than hot hatches (she is 70 years old, but still a petrol head). She loved your comments about the noise, as she has been spoiled over ten years while we drove a V8 (atmospheric) M3. Still today she loved the precision steering, the gorgeous noise, including when jamming the doors). She also loves good sound of the engine, and accepts a firm ride if this brings great ride. So we got this car; we mainly drive it on bad roads, but we love it. Normally we both select the sport mode. So, maybe you should re-discuss these issues with women, including grandmas who love sport and speed. I agreed too, as I do have some problems with my back to enter and exit a car (several injuries from motorcycle and alpine ski racing accidents). So we had to sell our gorgeous M3 and get a SUV, that doesn't make me looking like a boring man :)

You can hire programmer/tuners that can add all sorts of features such as fold in mirrors when you lock the door. You can add a BMS cold air intake and add a pre-customized map for to add more HP and TQ to the vehicle. And you made one big mistake. If you put the car in media or radio mode you can adjust the stations with that combination wheel/button in the middle of the controls on the right hand side of the steering wheel. It will also display on the HUD screen.n The new 2021 X1 has more options and now comes with a much bigger screen. I believe it's 12"! I find that X1 with optional aftermarket 19" wheels and wider performance tires has a better ride. You can hire a programmer/tuner and a BMS Cold Air Intake or go with BMW JB4 chip/tuner and you can get close to the same HP and TQ numbers.

@14:46 (no actual radio, skip track, next button) There is a skip track button. While your media (MP3 USB drive for example) is plugged in and you're in the folder that has all your tracks, push on (in) the little wheel that is on the right side of the steering wheel, below the VR button and Volume up button, and you'll see the tracks listed in the little 4" screen under the speedometer. Use that wheel I mentioned to then skip your tracks buy scrolling up or down and pushing the wheel in again to select the new track.

6:42 incorrect. The M35i isn't 3 inches lower than the X2. I think you mean the roofline is 3 inches lower than an X1, but the overall ride height/ground clearance is only 20mm on the M35i than a regular X2.
