Now in its 13th year without a full redesign, the #ToyotaTundra is one of the oldest new trucks you can buy in America and although the competition has moved on, Toyota is trying to keep the truck as fresh as possible. For 2020, the #TundraTRDPro gets a new Army Green exterior color and a new infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and finally Android Auto. It makes the interior a bit more modern, but the #Toyota #Tundra still gets the worse MPG in the entire segment. A new model is supposedly coming in the next year or two.

Sometimes luxury doesn’t have to be leather, technology, or turbo chargers. A logically laid out interior with buttons, naturally aspirated reliable engine, and great reliability are the biggest luxuries you can have nowadays.

A few years ago I had a roofing crew working at my house. One guy owned a Ram and another guy owned a Tundra of similar age and mileage. I asked both of them about the reliability and repair history over the life of the trucks. The answers went exactly according to the stereotypes. The Ram owner had spent a small fortune while the Tundra owner had only done routine maintenance and had his truck back to the dealer for a couple of free recalls. These guys actually needed big trucks and would have expected moderate mpg to be part of the reality of owning one. BTW I had steel shingles installed because I don't want to replace '30 Year' shingles every 10 years and I feel the same way about cars ;)

Don't forget LEDs. Everything that is NOT LED always gets specifically pointed out as a negative. It's a little annoying. OEM LEDs are not cheap to replace, yet do they really have that much functional advantage other than looking cool? Headlight maximum output is strictly regulated by the DOT, so they can't put out much more light than traditional halogens or HIDs.

My Father had them all dodge, Chevy, Nissan, Mazda, Ford except Toyota. All of them had issues. Bought himself a Tundra crewmaxx. 8 years later still has no issues. Regular maintenance. And now has the Tacoma as well. When I get big I’ll get Tundra double cab sport. Toss super bike in back (longer box) and hook up RV...

Tundra has been the same essentially since 2007. All offer the same motor and transmission. Great reliable trucks, if you want a great deal pick up a slightly used 14+ tundra if you want the new body style. I'm either gonna get a used tundra or used titan. I love the way both drive and feel and I am buying it as a work truck/personal truck so I dont care about the options and feature.

I am sorry but no diflocks means its it's not a competitor for a Ford raptor. Just because you put off road shocks on the truck dose not make it any more off road capable. If you want a truck that is off road capable then you need a rear locking diff. I love the army green.
@crispusattucks6094
@crispusattucks6094 4 жыл бұрын
Joshua Thomas a diff lock satisfies the .01% of Raptor owners that take their 75k truck off road. By off-road I mean off-road...not just down some muddy forrest road. It’s a gimmick more than anything for the type of consumer that the Raptor is marketed to.
@DragonKnightX12

Brandon D So? What’s your point? Doesn’t change the fact the Raptor is a lot more than a basic off-road package with affordable Fox shocks.
@joshuathomas8529
@joshuathomas8529 4 жыл бұрын
@@crispusattucks6094 look if you want to go really off road then the only real way to go is military surplus. Also you have to find a place that will let you take your off road vehicle off trail/ off the forest roads. The only place i have found to do that is military training areas. In which case then you will want the locking differential. Also the beefed up axeles and tires of military trucks come in handy. The best way to go completely off road comes in the form of the M270A1 multiple launch rocket system. I could go any where in that thing problem is they are not available on the civilian market.
@qwoozy
@qwoozy 4 жыл бұрын
@@crispusattucks6094 the thing is that your run of the mill XLT (don't even need to get the FX4 package) comes with a rear e-locker, and will perform far better off road than this "offroad" package tundra because of it at both a cheaper initial cost and a much cheaper cost at the pump.

I have a question to anyone that knows anything about Tundras: I found a 2015 SR Tundra for sale. It's 2x4, 2 door, 8' bed, and has the gasoline 5.7. But it also has crank windows. Every source online says that power windows have been the standard for since 2015 and before and I'm perplexed because I have never seen a 2015 with crank windows. Just curious, is this an uncommon "option"?

We bought a sequoia in 2007 as a 2008 model when it was redesigned and that sequoia is what this tundra is still based on. Both of them are still on sale till this day. So essentially its safe to say the design and underpinnings actually go back to 2006/2007 - which is 13 or 14 years, maybe more!

Sometimes people want "tried-and-true" instead of "this might not work in the future because of complexity". Good on Toyota for keeping some of the interiors on their trucks and SUVs traditional in some ways. Maybe modernize the infotainment system, modernize the safety tech, but keep the hard buttons, physical dials, minimize the amount of touch controlled clutter in the interior.

Over the last 5 years, I've had four friends in the market for a truck. Two of them bought a Tundra (one of which was a TRD Pro), one friend a Tacoma and the other a Silverado. In So.Cal where gas is at a premium, those who bought he thirsty Tundra couldn't care less. They have power enough to tow and know the reliability is there for beyond 200k miles. I think I see more of those in the Inland Empire than Fords or Chevy's and it may be a tie with Rams. Not a Titan in sight.
