By the way, I forgot to mention pricing. Porsche says it starts around $224,000, which is about $60,000 more than a GT3. Good luck getting either one of them for anything close to those prices, though.

@Gandhi2241

Im astonished that in the USA, authorised dealerships are free to charge whatever they wish if a car is trending. Halfway across the world in India (where I live), you will never see dealerships charging their own prices for such type of cars. Pricing has always been dictated by the manufacturer, although, dealers can give discounts to clear up stock or during festive seasons. I don’t know if there’s a law in place to protect consumers but I know for a fact you’ll never unnecessarily overpay, over and above the retail price of a car

Doug, small correction. The team lead for the GT department actually said those hood louvers direct the warm air to the sides. The problem was that that the warm air ran down the sides of the car and then came back over the rear “glass” and then into the intakes. The fins on the top are designed to keep that warm air from ever getting to the to the intakes; not to remove the warm air from the roof of the car.

One very special quirk Doug didn't mention: When you look at the rear reflector of the car, you can notice two air vents. The one on the top is real, the one beneath is fake. Andreas Preuninger, the Head of Porsche's GT Divison, hates fake vents. So the lower vent reads "no vent". This little feature can be seen in Top Gear's "FIRST LOOK" with AP @ around 7 minutes (not sure if i can link the video here)

This active aero is game changing on the confidence and stability available in the 911 chassis. It's a bit naive to think that those who can afford the most powerful engine and drivetrain combination wouldn't want the ability to stick that power to the ground with this much control. Especially with electric hybrid torque vectoring encroaching on the tip of the mountain top.
@SerbianBeastz
@SerbianBeastz Жыл бұрын
@@baimun it’s not naive, it’s simply that the turbo s holds a different niche in the 911 range. The turbo s is meant to be more of a “daily driver” comfortable 911, whereas the gt3 rs is hard core and track oriented. The turbo s already has active aero, just obviously not to this extent. I can all but guarantee you will not be seeing a wing taller than the roofline on a turbo s. Where you are highly likely to see another iteration of this wing, and perhaps even a more hardcore version of it, would be in the gt2 rs.

the main thing that helps the warm air escape towards the side of the car and away from the engine is the vortex generators in the nostrils. The fins on the roof only prevent the warm air from coming back over the roof and into the engine. Andreas Preuninger even mentioned that these vortex generators guide the warm air around the door windows and actually defrosts them in the winter.

Doug, a small correction: CFRP ( the P stands for polimeri btw, not plastic) it's nothing new/fancy. It's just the proper name of what you usually call "Carbon Fiber"

Yeah, it was pretty funny that with all his extensive knowledge and experience with these exotic cars, he didn't realize that all of the carbon fiber he's ever seen is carbon fiber reinforced polymer. It's just plastic with carbon fabric embedded in it.

The fact that Porsche is able to add only 30lbs on top of a normal GT3 for better performance is absolutely amazing. Wider rims and tires alone could add more and yet they kept it at a clean 30lbs more. Magnificent!!!! I will buy this over a new Ferrari any day or year for that matter!

Doubling the downforce from the most recent previous model is a mind-bending accomplishment. But trying to drive a Tribute version on the street would be nuts - the JDM crowd would be constantly buzzing around you like a hive of wasps keying on that color scheme.

That white and green color combo is iconic. Those rims are just plain sick. The amount of vents and fins this car contains are not only maddening in how they look in general, they are extremely precise in how they function. Everything about the newest GT3 RS to me, is pure beauty, technological prowess and basic brute strength combined into the same package. It's just, well...BRILLIANT.

I don't think he would do that. He wants to own his content. Doing a show for them means that they own it. Unless he sets up a production company and creates one to sell it. But Netflix doesn't like to license shows anymore.

@@joshuabrown3654 I've tried to figure out what that would be. It would have the acceleration of a Tesla S Plaid, the top speed of a Bugatti Chiron, the handling of a McLaren Senna, the fun factor and cool factor of a Chiron, the features of a Rolls-Royce Cullinan crossed with a Tesla, the comfort of a Cullinan, the quality of a Lexus LX600, the practicality (cargo capacity and seating) of a Cadillac Escalade ESV but the external size of a Mini Cooper for ease of parking with the fuel economy of a Tesla, and it will cost $30k to max out value.

The door handle is different as well compared to the other new Porshce’s. They pretty much kept the 2017-19 door handles and didn’t bother the new handles. I’m guessing they did that to save weight 😅😅😅😅😅

I’d argue that the 992 GT3 cup car is the ultimate car for the track but it’s not street legal. Kind of hard to get one but you can import one after the end of each racing season if you aren’t already connected to the Porsche Racing Team. And if you are racing in NASA or other local series, this RS won’t be competitive with the cup cars, even the 991’s. This RS is a lot of fun for HPDE (drivers education) days though.

Once you start inviting racecars, you can say a lot of things are the ultimate track cars - 911 RSR? Mx5 Cup Car? I'd honestly argue the GT4 RS Clubsport is a better track car than the GT3 Cup, and I've seen it at multiple NASA events. Also - there are several sources that claim this GT3 RS will lap faster than the GT3 Cup, but Porsche will never admit it themselves.
