Honestly it’s not worth the hype anyways. BMW doesn’t use cooled seats, their seats are ventilated, which basically just sucks heat from the seats.

Who cools the seats? Had cars from four luxury brands in the last eight years and all just blew ambient air. That works fine. Edit: Reviewer pulled ‘cooled seats” from his ass. Sounded strange so I visited the configuration page. They’re ventilated only, the only option aside from heated. As I suspected.

Agree, BMW has been really stingy with options across their entire lineup in the US.

It would be great for trucks but maybe not so economical for cars. A heavy diesel with even more heavy batteries. Some car makers do make EV that us petro engine to continuously charge the battery. But none with diesel engines yet.

I just test drove this and 40e last week. Really impressive - it felt like a return to form for BMW's amazing ride-handling balance. Range is also a non-issue for me as we'll still have ICE car in the household. I just wish steering wheel wasn't stupidly thick and devoid of feel. It will likely bring me back to BMW after several years.

Sienna's are great- but it's not just about range. If that were the case (and maybe we should all drive the most basic practical choices) there are a million cars that work wonderfully well for 75% less cost than this car. but this is a fantastic, cool, fast car. I think it's funny to compare a Toyota Sienna to this.

I call BS on the Tesla Story. Mine goes more than 300 miles and superchargers only need like 20 minutes or so.. you don't fully charge it-you only go to 80% and keep going. there's no way that added 4 hours to a drive that based on drive time is about 450 miles. Impossible. I road trip in mine all the time. Tesla superchargers are literally everywhere. I opened my Tesla app and looked up superchargers on i85 around NC and there are literally dozens a long the way.

I actually use mine every time I go to the grocery store. It's the perfect size and I don't have to worry about the bags sliding around. They are also great for takeout food so you don't introduce the smell to the inside of the vehicle.

All while the interior quality of the new E-class improved by a lot. Throttle House called the door car plastics “Toyota RAV4-like.” Oof! Huge L for BMW in this area. The G30 had a great interior.

@@CyAn-S I’ve sat in every generation of both cars from the E34 and W124 to present. The new W214 E-class has much better materials than the G60, sorry. The G60 doesn’t even have felt-lined door cubbies, front seatback pockets, or an under hood insulation pad. Where the Mercedes has metal trim around the window switches, the BMW has Toyota plastic. BMW designed the new 5’s interior to cut costs; Mercedes designed the new E’s to have the best fit and finish in the segment.

@@CyAn-S Actually no, everything he mentioned is indeed cut from the G60 and was available on its predecessor the G30. Sad but true. I’m reading a thread on bimmerpost complaining about it now. The omission of rear ambient lighting and airplane pockets in the rear are so egregious and scream CHEAP. Another that the OP didn’t mention- the rear armrest cup holder is now a cheap static insert in the top of the armrest, uncovered, rather than the retractable hidden piece of the E-class and every prior generation of 5 going back to the E39. BMW could have flown under the radar by only omitting massaging seats or rear comfort access, but these glaring omissions in interior hardware are just mind-blowing. It’s the kind of crap you’d expect from a Japanese luxury brand.

@@weirdshibainu Camaro and a Tesla. I know the best of both words. M550i is nice but I'd pick a CT5 Blackwing or Alfa Romeo Quad 10/10 times. The M550i tries to be luxury sports car but fails in the "sports" department. Aside from being quick in a straight line, its tame and not driver centric. Exhaust is too quiet, almost zero feedback from the steering wheel, and overall lacks the driving dynamics of what old BMWs stood for: ultimate driving machine. Better than the F10, but I wouldn't own a modern BMW except one with a B58. It suffers from the same as what I described above but at least it is somewhat reliable and very efficient.

Drove one a few weeks back. It`s M5 performance for the price of a well equipped 540i.I was seriously thinking about getting one.

They also give you a lot more for a whole lot less. Still expensive though.

Missed the mark according to who? If you haven’t noticed, the i5 isn’t a dedicated EV like some dedicated EV’s you’re comparing it with 😂. You can clearly tell BMW had their gasoline engines in mind first while developing this car.

It drives like a 3 series ,you don't really feel the weight of this car. It has rear wheel steering so it actually drives much smaller than it's size suggested
