I like your videos but I feel this was a bit dramatised. Those tracks are steep but nothing that a stock Navara can't manage easily. Maybe it's lack of experience of the drivers that had you feeling anxious. All cars would have done deep creek track with no issue as long as you don't get all 3 Cars stuck. I think it's just a matter of confidence.
@lethil
@lethil 4 ай бұрын
I agree. I don't think it was over dramatized, I think it was a good reflection of what less experienced drivers are like when faced with a challenge and I think its good video showing real 4wding at that level. And now it will be a good memory and a challenge conquered they'll remember. A mix of inexperience causing a bit of anxiety/stress and no doubt a few years on they probably have more confidence in their abilities and the cars capabilities. Credit to them for slowing down and having a think and making good decisions.

Good job guys. I like how you know your limits and respect them. The ability of an 80 series usually outweighs the ability of the driver, they're such a good rig and there isn't much they can't handle.

The usual direction is to come in from the Walhalla end. There's a steepish descent then along the creek bed, hard right up the rock step and up the hill. Looks a bit like the dozers have levelled the fairly hairy sideways angle on the mid part of the track, you had to drive the extreme right side or risk sliding sideways. If you want steep turn down No 4 track from the top of No 1 - the run down to the river is eye opening. Have done No1 4 times, twice in the wet. Once needed to winch when right hub broke and left front airborne. All in all a good track, not so good for stock height Navaras - the creek rocks wouldn't be fun.

Have you ever looked at the Australian product “bog out”? It would be a good backup for you and would work on every car in the convoy. Slow going, but a lot faster than stuck. We have a similar car to your friends, and carry one on the roof rack. We have one for each wheel, then two extension straps and tree trunk protectors. So we can pull straight up, hooked to two trees. The two ropes come together like a v, then out to the two trees. We also carry a shovel, axe, mattock, and recovery boards. All secured with reusable zip ties.

Time to get a winch! Doesn't mean you'll start driving like an idiot but it'll give you extra solutions if you do get stuck, and is good to have when others are nearby. To avoid the extra weight on the front I use an arborist tirfor winch + steel cable. It's cheaper, less likely to fail, has more flexible uses, and because it's slower and requires effort you're less likely to rely on it when you pick your lines!

My research of youtube videos show me that I could get into a bit of strife over there especially on downhill descents in an auto and I've got reduction gears.
