Saw looks to have been one of those used for one job and put up. Will it run sitting easily over 30 years?

I literally just picked up the same saw yesterday for the same price ($AUD) and under all the crap from the shed it was stored in, the paint and condition of parts is immaculate! I’m yet to try and start it. But I’m hopeful and armed with a carb kit! Hope I get similar results to yours fingers crossed 🤞

I know a saw I can rob a nar from. Because ei dont use these old ones like this, I'm going to keep a common bat and chain on the wall that fits all them.

New subscriber. I’m a fan of the old Macs because back in the 70’s, that was my dad’s preference and we cut more cord of wood than I care to think about…but always with a Mac. I have no idea what sizes he had…wasn’t paying attention back then…I was more interested in chasin skirts than saws. But today, it gives me a connection with him and it’s become an obsession! I just picked up a 250 that should be in my garage by next Wednesday at the latest. Guy says it starts but won’t run. I’ve got my ideas on why. Paid 86 for that. It’s got a stumpy little 16” bar that’s got to go. Like to hang at least a 24” if I can find one that fits. Anyway…found your channel while chasing parts to have on hand as this is my first 250. Trying to chase carb rebuild kits…but mines marked “L63G” but it is a tillitson. I make a lot of my own gaskets, just obviously can’t cut out a metering gasket so I’m looking for what should be in her. Love your 250 and I’ll be binging on your other stuff. I’ve got a pro80, 555, 10-10 and a couple others in various stages of rebuilds. If I stuck to looking at parts and stopped getting dragged back down the “saw” hole…I might actually finish one up!!😁🤣

@@tommalone4310 when people look at them and ask where the carb is, they seem to expect to see a modern day sdc looking thing. No o have been tamped to put an sdc carb on it sone how. Look goofy but I think it would work, have to make a adaptor and what not.

Do you have a 1-61 gear drive? I got one for 10 bucks with a new 1-81 block thing has a removable head.
@mistermacgray4 жыл бұрын
I wish I could find a 1-6x and a 1-8x series. The 1-61 has a removable head, the 1-62 was the last to get the removable head. The 1-x3 for all the series were all non removable heads and that way from there on for the 40, 50 and 60. The 1-82 was the last to have a removable head, same with the 1-72.

I got 4 of those for 40 bucks in that kind of shape two have removable heads. be cool if you could put a 123 cc block in one of those ahahah.

You can, what says you cant cram a 123cc in one, may take a few mods. I want to get a 90 series kart engine and put in one to make a 9x9 racer with a 16 inch roller nose bar.

Buckin Billy Ray said that sometimes the fuel will soften up the diaphragm and they will come back. Mine did and it appears yours did also
@mistermacgray2 жыл бұрын
Fuel can but most cases it won't. People have talked about using brake fluid or atf fluid to bring them back to life but I have never had success with either and have smoked them for days with no success. Carb kits are cheap and a sure way of knowing your saw will run correctly and stay in tune. Not worth taking the chance of short cut and possibly burning one up from a lack of fuel getting to it.

@@ghettotech9617 cranks can be swapped out with saw ones that have the proper tapers. The 101B was the 101 engine to have because it came with a tapered clutch side crank.
