You do realize that isn't going to work well, if it works at all, because it is a two stroke, right? the exhaust port opens before the intake port, and it stays open until after the intake port, so it will exit the cylinder prior to compression. you might have a little boost still in the cylinder, but that probly won't account for the power used to pressurize the air that went straight through. 2-stroke gas engines are actually supercharged from the factory, sorta. They aren't considered that, because they all are, but they are. Air goes into the crankcase (typically through a reed valve) as the piston goes up, then as the piston goes down the air gets forced to the top, & that is the supercharging action they all have. Even that will blow air out before compression, but that's why dirt bikes had fatty pipes (tuned exhaust).
@mistermacgray

Did you watch the videos before and this one where I say I know the physics of what is going on and that this saw is for show purposes for grabbing your eye and not performance purposes? Because your lengthy explanation says to me you didn't. Yes I know and if it gets a rotary valve for the exhaust then the boost will stay in the cylinder.
@Iowa599
@Iowa599 10 күн бұрын
@@mistermacgray the rotary exhaust valve won't help because it will still be open when the intake port is exposed. That is the reason superchargers aren't used in 2-stroke race engines, it doesn't work. Rules aren't required because there is no power to gain. Sure, exploring new ideas is interesting, but since the idea has already been proven to be a failure, it's not a new idea. Your outcome will also be a failure. Superchargers did work on 2-stroke diesels (see Detroit Diesel), kinda. They were required because the crankcase isn't used. One good part was the intake air didn't have fuel in it, because the diesel hadn't been injected yet. but whatever...do what you want, I'm not going to stop you. There are just many more things to do that haven't already been proven to not work. if you do get it to run I bet it will shoot flames, which could be cool, so make sure you're wearing safety glasses.

@Iowa599 look up here on youtube "2strokestuffing" and watch as his 50cc Supercharged reed valve engine with and exhaust rotary valve builds boost, watch as he has a turbo charged 2 stroke 50cc builds boost. As I said,this engine isn't for racing, it's for show only, period. If it makes any cuts, bonus for me.

The 125c I have has the carburetor pre-heater muffler assembly and an undamaged functional chain brake, it needs a few things that I have already ordered. The paint is about 85% plus and the saw is a 9 out of 10. I will send some pictures of the saw if you would like, just let me know where to send them. I also have a couple of poulan pro 655bp's, some Mac 1000's and just about every 82cc mcculloch muscle saw and a bunch of others.(FYI)alot of my saws are collector condition or are rare. The sp81 is even better weighing just over the 700 and has anti vibration mounts plus more power...the sp125...same story, I have them all lol. For the price of the 54cc pm1010 vs the 70.5cc 700 at the time, the 54cc handles it's own as a firewood saw, better on fuel and will pull the most common of firewood saw size bars cleanly.

Your going to run into and issue with supercharger blowing the boost and fuel are out the exhaust. You need to have a valve in the exhaust to hold boost, it’s been tried many times and doesn’t work well It’s a cool idea, but without a valve in the exhaust the. boost gets lost, A turbo acts as your valve in the exhaust and will hold boost
@mistermacgray
@mistermacgray 24 күн бұрын
Yup, I brought that up in the video. Proper pipe with back pressure can help it work but if it idles and revs up, good enough for now. Nothing says down the road a rotary exhaust valve won't be made for this, it's actually feasible.
@nathansumerlin8391
@nathansumerlin8391 24 күн бұрын
Yes anything is possible, the most successful supercharged. Two stroke was a banshee that ran fairly well, but it didn’t make more power than it did before. The bike ran a preformed, but with the valve in the exhaust essentially acts as a tuned pipe to control fuel charge. Putting a valve on the intake and exhaust, the tuned pipe no longer has an effect on the charge. You might be able to make an exhaust valve that is very similar to a read valve for the intake, and that might work, you’d have to tune the pedal thickness to eventually get the right power curve, but it might be very simple

I think your idle circuit is too rich, it is loading up and tricking you into leaning the high speed circuit, that’s why it was stalling in the cut. These engines will settle down into an idle, not slow enough to stop the clutch from engaging, but they will idle. When you get the idle correct, it will respond better too. Those big sprockets tend to throw chains, the drivers are not in the bar groove at the base of the bar. Cool saw you have there
@mistermacgray
@mistermacgray Ай бұрын
The old pipe it would idle and not spin the chain but with the new pipe it is pulling fuel via proper exhaust pulses. Also I don't want this saw to idle, I want the throttle blade to shut all of the way to kill it as I don't want a run away to happen but it is my primary way to shut it off next to ignition cut. The spark plug is dead on the money for mixture being where it should be. I would rather keep half way safe by nit being able to idle and the chain bit spin vs idling which this saw has no need to sit and idle.
