I love people who say this because they are lowkey saying people can't read or they are too stupid to know what the Portal is. Considering that Sony marketed it as a remote player, it says remote player on the box and says that you need a PS5 to use it, hell if you brought in from PS direct which is how most people are getting the Portal, Sony has the Portal in the PS assesories section and it says that it needs a PS5 there as well.

Ya...with the only real change needed being it can use any memory card or if it uses a specific kind of memory card they're priced on the cheaper side of things as that's one of if not the core reason the Vita failed. Have a Vita myself and it's probably my favorite handheld to date but those memory card prices were and still are BS. Also they need to support the system beyond the first year or so too unlike what they did with Vita. Switch is good too however Vita just feels better as a handheld (I have only used my Switch in Handheld mode and the size is definitely more awkward than anything).

Something pretty crazy is you can prop your phone up while using RemotePlay and still use your PlayStation five controller by Bluetoothing it to you phone. Does the exact same thing as the PlayStation portal. for pretty much free

I really want one of these but I don’t want to buy until I’ve tried. I’m concerned about input delay in movement controls. Is there any kind of input lag ? I find to noticeably when using my iPad for remote play. I do have decent Wi-Fi in my home.

Also I don't know what your internet situation is like but remote play is 60fps and if its laggy thats likely a you problem as there's more than enough video evidence of this being used in all kinds of places to show what proper networking (port forwarding) and good internet service will get you. You people lined up to bash an optional 200.00 dollar accessory looking crazy as hell right now. Also you lost me at Gamepass, I own the games I am playing on my PS5 and Portal I don't need to subscribe for them.

Yeah you can. Though it can only connect through Wi-Fi and not directly to the PS5 like the Wii U can, so there will be slightly more delay. May not be noticeable though

Been 11 days since I got mine and I FUCKING LOVE this thing!!! Now yes, you will need home wifi that'll output 500 mbps or more to get absolute smooth frames and no lagging. 300 mbps will still work but you'll get some very minor glitches.

Our WiFi router has both a 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz wifi antennas so lag wouldn't be a problem if i got this!

First off just a funny mention here did anyone see the PlayStation portal at the Best Buy near the razor stuff he was walking next to, all I saw was a switch🤣 secondly it would seem like everyone has infinite rest mode because the PlayStation portal will not wake the PS5 to play unless it’s in rest mode, please let me know otherwise if that’s not the case. I’ve been very curious about this since I’ve had mine for about a week and a half or two.

My idea envisions the PS Portal as the successor to the PSP, capable of playing titles from PS4, PS3, and PS2 with enhanced graphics and higher frame rates. But sadly its just a display with controller.
