In this video you’ll learn why the 75 Hard challenge that everyone is talking about is NOT for you.
I share the principles from 75 Hard that I LOVE. And why granular prescriptive and tone of the program is dangerous.
Why it is dangerous mentally and possibly physically.
Most important, you'll learn how to evaluate programs to see if they are right for you.

Totally agree. There will always be new challenges. The key is create a plan which works for you, keep stacking good habits over existing ones and make it a lifestyle!

Iris, I am so glad it worked for you - and especially that you got alot stronger. And hopefully it didn't cause too much of a diet mentality for you going forward. Glad you're feeling better.

It is completely worth it. It’s to challenge yourself mentally and physically for 75 days. It’s called hard for a reason!

I'm all for challenging yourself mentally and physically. Super glad it worked well for you and didn't cause a diet mentality or get you out-of-balance physically. Way to go!

Rest is critical to recover and rebuild. I’m not a fan of this program. I’m trying the 75 medium quit alcohol, reading more, and drinking a lot of water. My problem is daily exercise. That alone, gives me pause to continue or just modify it to meet my needs.

I was seriously thinking about doing this and I completely agree with everything you've said. Balance and sustainability is key. And nothing about this is balanced or sustainable for me personally.

I am all for people finding something that is sustainable and can be adapted for them and whatever stage of life they might happen to be in. This all or nothing triggers something in me that feels like a program like 75 Hard would accomplish nothing more than setting me up for personal failure. Do I think it is a good idea to get up and get your body moving? Yes! Do I think it is a good idea for people to drink more water? For most of us, that would be a yes! Do I think it is a good idea to eat more healthy foods? Yes! Do I think it is great to sit down and spend time reading a book? Yes! Do I think taking daily progress pictures is a good idea? That is a resounding No! For some people this could be counter productive and honestly, I don't think that any of us are going to see any physical changes from one day to the next, but rather over a period of time. And I think taking a picture of myself on day 1 and then again on day 2 or day 3 and seeing no change to my physical appearance could honestly be discouraging and make me feel like the challenge is not working. I think a better idea might be to take a beginning picture on day 1 and then maybe a follow up picture in 2 weeks or a month which might be potentially more motivating and see more physical results. Here are some of the things about the program that I do not personally like (and I am not a professional ~~ far from it). But for me, what sets off alarm bells in my head is that unless you do all of these exact things for 75 days in a row, you have somehow failed. And often when you set people up for failure, they will quit and give up before they even begin. For my personal perspective, slow progress is better than no progress. If you are trying to get people to get up and get moving, why does it have to be two 45 minute workouts ~ one of which has to be outdoors? I can tell you, for myself personally, I am not going to go outside and do any sort of exercise or activity if it is raining | lightning thundering, etc. I also am not going to go outside if it is super hot and humid. I also have had double knee replacement surgery so I do not walk outdoors if it is snowy or icy (i.e., pretty much all winter long where I live) because I do not want to risk falling. But if I were to instead exercise during those times for 90 minutes indoors, according to this challenge, I have failed. But shouldn't the important part be that I got up and got moving for 90 minutes whether it is indoors or outdoors? And in terms of drinking water ~~ I already drink probably 6 to 8 bottles of water every day so I think that I am good there. And I rarely drink alcohol or pop anyway. A diet that is so strict that there are no cheat days, again in my opinion sets one up for failure. Do I think it is good to try and eat healthier and to develop healthier eating habits? Absolutely! But do I think that eating a small bowl of ice cream on occasion or having a slice of pizza means that I somehow failed? No! If I went 75 days feeling as if I could never have any of these so called "bad foods," when the 75 days were up I would just want to sit down and eat all of them. I think the more important thing is how to work them into your eating plan occasionally without feeling some overwhelming sense of guilt. The same could be said about drinking alcohol or pop | soda or juice. It is all about moderation and not absolute exclusion. And taking time to sit down and read a book is a great idea and a great way to give yourself some mental exercise. But why does it have to be only a non-fiction book? Isn't the more important thing to just take 10 or 20 minutes to sit down and read a book? It should not have exclusions on what the reading material can or cannot be. Any time spent reading is a great way to relax and get some mental exercise. I don't see the benefit of it being so restrictive. We should encourage people to read and not set boundaries on it.

I tried it twice but I think the gallon of water is too much for me. By the 3rd day I started feeling thirsty and on the 4th day I was extremely thirsty, nauseas and weak. I googled and I think it’s what you said about my electrolytes being off balance. I drank salt (electrolyte) tablets and drank a Gatorade the next day and felt better but if I don’t keep up with the salt tablets and Gatorade while drinking a gallon, I feel extremely thirsty. I’m 108 pounds and I think a gallon a day may be too much for me.

Toni, thanks for sharing your experience. So glad you found a way to balance your electrolytes. How much water someone needs is varied based on weight, activity, and health. Congrats staying on your own healthy path.

The daily pictures should be motivational to make you not a fat dope. People need to quit using the word trigger and deal with it. The world is a mean place and will eat you alive. It’s 2.5 months, 7 steps a day, what do you have to lose?

Do you think with the 2x 45 min workouts, that a gal of water is necessary or still depends on something?
@ViREOLife
@ViREOLife Жыл бұрын
Great question @MochaLatte! How intense is the workout? Both or one intense? How much are you sweating? Are you exercising in hot climate or cold room? How are your electrolytes? Your answers to these will start to give you clues to your body. You are smart for asking.
