Have you checked out the 4K version of The Abyss? What did you think?

I think you are wrong about The Abyss not being sought after. There is a huge buzz about it.

I think the abyss is the only one worth getting and a release that we needed. I mean who doesn’t already own the alien anthology on Blu-ray which is fantastic and I don’t see true lies benefiting from 4K or HDR in anyway like the abyss will coming from DVD.

The Abyss is a big movie. Maybe not Aliens but a big movie most people have been waiting on.

Nah. I think the order of desirability is ALIENS, THE ABYSS and then TRUE LIES. There's a pretty decent fanbase of people who have been waiting for an anamorphic BluRay of THE ABYSS for a LOOOOOOOONG time.

I received my copy which I preordered on Tuesday and love love love the looks. I don’t understand why so many people don’t like movies with no grains or minimal at best due to lose of detail but not true. It’s looks absolutely amazing and reference quality. It’s one of my best in my library. It still keeps all the details as grain lovers complain that it loses but again not true. These high end 4k HDR TV’s pushes technology with higher FPS and 4k HDR. Don’t understand why people also don’t like higher FPS than 24FPS. This is like 100 years old technology and today we can do 48, 60 and 120FPS on these movies making the movie look absolutely amazing for today standards. Dolby Atmos is referenced quality as well. If you prefer grains than you may not like this much, for me it’s one of my BEST and highly recommend.

There all sold out everywhere. I’d say they are all sought out.

Are you kidding me people have been dying for Years to get a 4k release of The Abyss.

Don't care much for True Lies but The Abyss and Aliens are two I've pre-ordered.

I was desperate to get this as my only other version is a non-anamorphic DVD. I am, however, a bit nervous about the DNR - I prefer grain- but I have taken the plunge and just hope I don’t hate it.

Not coming to the UK coz of the a holes at BBFC😢

I’m waiting for my copy to arrive, I live in the UK where the movie has been banned because of the Rat scene, some do gooder has decided it depicts cruelty to animals so unless the scene was deleted the movie was going to be banned 🤷‍♂️, I don’t care fir cruelty to animals but this is just taking things too far, typical British film board 😩, I’ve had to import my copy, hopefully it will arrive some time next week 🤞🏻

Can anyone confirm that the Blu-ray's"Not the Uhd" are in fact Region free and not locked to 1?

Disagree with your take about The Abyss not being highly demanded. Of the 3 new Cameron releases, it's the one I want most because I have Aliens in many high def formats but Abyss and True Lies haven't had home media releases since dvd. And The Abyss is a better movie than True Lies. So for me, The Abyss is the one I want the most, followed by Aliens which is one of my all-time favs. True Lies I will get if it hits the bargain bin.

I also preordered Aliens on Amazon, then a day after release saw it was out of stock and they would notify mewhen I could expect a delivery date for my order - which means to me they sold more preorders than they knew they would have the stock to fill. So canceled the order and bought on the W site and expecting delivery tomorrow. ;)

Very wrong about The Abyss... The cinephiles have been chomping at the bit for that one for a decade or more.

The Abyss is long awaited on a better format than the heavily letterboxed 4:3 release DVD I still have. Screw Disney btw including for not doing Physical Media releases in Australia and leaving me paying a premium to get The Abyss 4K & Bluray imported. Arrived today and is in my PC drive ripping (No Extra Compression) for my media player as I type this! :)

I can't comment on the quality even though I placed this order at Amazon as soon as it was posted months ago ... Well they did it to me again. I still haven't gotten it now it's out of stock everywhere last time I make a pre order with them it's not like I ordered at the last minute they do this all the time guess even though we pay for prime we must be on their "screw this guy" list or something
