Yeah with most things it just comes down to personal preference. I don’t like a ton of it either, just want it to look natural to how it was made.

They aren’t ending movies on blu-ray. They are not going to be making blank Blu-ray Discs that you can buy at the store to record on yourself. The bd-r discs are what they are discontinuing. They are still producing movies on blu-ray to buy, that is not going away.

I was inspired to go in by people finding a nice Argo collector's set, but mine didn't have it. Got La Llorona, The Cursed, Dragon Age, Indian Summers season 1, all on Blu-ray with slips for $5 each. A 12 episode zombie anime, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress for only $14. Disney's Onward on 4K, no slipcover on it sadly. And a 4K Doctor Who film/miniseries which my dad will like for Father's Day. A pretty decent haul IMO, sometimes their selection pleasantly surprises me

Those are some really good pickups. I think everyone Big Lots experience varies a lot by location. I’m not sure how often they get movies in but I think I’ll be checking them out a lot more.

@@StraightToBluray yeah I'm not sure how often they restock either. From other videos I've seen some variety, but also a lot of similar selections. La Llorona and Onward were pretty common to see. The CGI version of the Lion King which I saw also, but wasn't about to pay $10 for. Not sure where they get their stock in from, but it's probably similar to how Dollar Tree operstes, because there's a lot of similar titles there too

@@StraightToBluray If you like South Park humour, then Team America is a classic. It's completely out there in terms of zaniness. Plus it has got some really impressive action scenes, only with Thunderbirds-esque puppets.

I think I'll stick with the pirated version, at least it shows you the movie as it was at the time of its release, it looks a little darker, I can deal with that, but at least it preserves its details and some of the grain, it would be the equivalent to the Lionsgate 2015 version of Terminator 2, the Spanish pirate version, that edition is like the most redeemable of Terminator 2, even with its problems and everything, it retains the grain and the details, only with a slightly contrast wash and blacks that are soft, not strong. The pirated version of True Lies looks pretty good, it's just that it has more intense contrasts and therefore the blacks look quite strong, already going a bit over the top, but at least we can have more details and grains than in this new 4K version.

I haven’t watched the Blu-ray version of it yet so I can’t compare the two. I’m sure I’ll give it a watch sometime soon and see if there is a noticeable difference.

Do you not do imports? I do. Both cause i have a multiregion Bluray player AND I have a drive for my PC where i rip imports to uncompressed MKV and play on my mini pc 4K media player with libreelec on it.😊

No, I’ve never gotten anything imported. I only have a region A player. I have thought about getting a region free player though.
