They are probably paying for things with cashiers checks, plain cash, family member’s names and credit or sketchy ways at this point. I just feel like this needs to be said: you cannot legally live in a house without a certificate of occupancy. They usually don’t give you a COF because there is some major issue with the house that can make it unsafe for humans to reside there. The fact that these two airheads not only moved in, but the fact that they brought their kids into it as well proves that they shouldn’t be trusted to make intelligent decisions.

All of her reasons of moving screams lies. Not sure about California law. A Landlord can not tell you to move out within a day due to their property being uninhabitable due to flooding. They can have you temporally vacate at their cost in order to fix their property for you.. They can also not just tell you that you are not getting your deposit back without giving you an itemized list of where your deposit is being used. This basically tells me they were the reason for the flooding, and why the landlord was able to tell them to get out asap, and why they did not get their deposit back.

Just get a mid class house with no pool and a decent size backyard, you don’t need all that🤦‍♂️ This is sad as hell

Having to be humbled with economical problems is not something to be embarrassed we all go trough that at least once in our lives. The embarrassment is to scam people to get out of those problems and act like nothing is happening , that is VERY embarrassing.

As a home owner with tenants in an investment property, you can’t increase the security deposit from what you had initially posted on the rental listing. The only way an increase in deposit can be requested is if the owner sees red flags in their background such as rental or credit history. If the owner is giving them the opportunity to be a tenant even with the red flags, we typically ask for double the initial deposit (for example). But that’s something the tenant signs saying they are aware and approve of these requirements before moving in. If the ace family felt like they were being taken advantage of because they’re influencers, they could’ve declined the owners request for a higher deposit and searched for something else. Also, the majority of people renting out property (some not all) have a third party like a property management company take care of the background checks and applications. We don’t know who’s renting out our house for security purposes. All we know is the background check status and if there were any red flags that would alert us to decline an interested applicant or request a higher deposit due to red flags.

I would love someone to find the homeowner and interview him/her on their side of the story.

Long story short: God loves giving Dolores and her family big beautiful mansions but not enough for said homes to be habitable.

I work in housing. The landlord asked for 3 security deposits bc their credit is bad. Every time I’ve worked with people trying to get housing, the security deposit was higher for bad credit scores and people who really don’t qualify.

I have lived in 5 different apartments over the years post-college (never evicted, never left a lease early, just simply moved) and I have never not received my security deposit back. Neither have I had to pay more than one deposit. I have 0 credit because I have no debt nor do I have any lines of credit. Yet I was approved for all the places because of my rental history and references. Amazing how they’ve managed to do so, so terribly. Worse than anyone I’ve ever known lol. Their kids are the real victims here. Edit: if they’re so well off why are they renting? How frequently do people rent million dollar homes? Most contracts are usually a year or longer and if you break that contract and the landlord finds damage or you don’t clean it, then chances are you won’t get your deposit back. And I’m guessing that’s why they’ve never gotten any of their deposits back.
