The helmet and vambrace that the Stranger is wearing is imbued with a metal called cortosis, which is mostly from legends but has appeared in a couple canon books and comics too. First time it’s been used onscreen though, very exciting. It can short out plasma weapons (not just sabers, but blasters too) but it’s much more brittle than beskar, which is why Jecki could break it. It’s extremely rare and powerful/valuable, so when a new vein is discovered, it usually becomes a massive mining operation almost overnight.

We rarely show our true selves to people we don't know well, but as trust builds over time, we do. I think Sol knows this is Mae--he spent the entire season up to this point calling both Mae and Osha by name, so why did he go with "she" and "your sister" at this moment? This mission was a bust! He just lost everyone on a mission that was supposed to extract Mae. He wasn't going to make this mission a total failure. Instead of calling Mae's bluff, he went with it! Get her @$$ on the ship! What an episode this was! Qimir went from "some random character" to "the MOST interesting character" in this series within 5 minutes. You'll learn more about the helmet and the vambrace(s) later. I have my theories about Qimir at this point, but take every word he says into account. I mean EVERY word. He's telling a lot about not only himself, but about "Dark Side" Force users. "The Jedi say I should not exist".... and he's absolutely right! Go back to last episode, as soon as the Jedi saw him, out came the lightsabers, and they went on the attack. He literally defended himself. Once they knew what he looked like, his only recourse would be to eliminate all witnesses because, as Palpatine said in Episode III, "The Jedi are relentless. If they are not all destroyed, it will be civil war without end." This series is bringing the Jedi under scrutiny, and I'm all here for it. I have a TON to say about all this, but I'll save it for another time.

Acolite episode 5 is the best star wars thing I have ever seen. These fights and choreography surpassed both the Phantom Menace movie and the clone wars episode. That helmet and arm armor is made from Cordosis metal it was in Star Wars Legends and in Star Wars Canon in Thrawn first book Where he was with Anakin on mision during clone wars. And in Vader comic during Imperium.

yeah we as the audience are trained so much when it's obvious that we automatically think it must a red herring. I'm so sad for Jecki, this was her last trial before becoming a Jedi knight

Common people Sol its true dark lord of sith

I've been lukewarm on this series because its been difficult as a non-bookreader to connect it to previous movies and shows. The more I rewatch it with reactors and hear the different observations, the more I appreciate it. I think you'll enjoy Ep. 6 and hope you'll watch it before Ep. 7 drops. I'm expecting Ep. 7 to be really good.

Easily the best episode of the season, thus far, with arguably the best lightsabre action seen in live action? (Maybe only just behind Qui Gon & Obi Wan vs Maul and Anakin vs Obi Wan). Just a shame we couldn't have had more episodes like this. I'm all for non-action episodes that character build and help develop the plot, but that requires a certain level of dialogue and acting to help facilitate that approach to a scene......something which, unfortunately, this series has lacked. But this episode was a banger.....straight 🔥

Metal gotta be Cortosis it is first time we see it on screen, but in legends material it has been known to temporarily short out lightsabers :D
