Amandla Stenberg wasn't actually "cast" to play the role in the traditional sense, meaning: she didn't have to audition. Headland wanted her for the lead so they wrote the role(s) based on her personally. She was basically chosen for the role ahead of time.

Interesting! I didn't know that! If this is the case you would have thought they would've done a more effective job at tailoring the roles to suit Amandla's strengths and masking her weaknesses as an actor. Thank you for watching and commenting, I really appreciate it

The chick who plays Master Sol's padawan in an interview talked about how the makeup covers up her eyebrows and it's hard for her to make the proper facial expressions cause she relies on her eyebrows. She told Headland about this issue and had the nerve to tell her to act better. Chris Evans had the same problem when playing Captain America wearing the helmet. A good director would use editing techniques as you said to show and enhance his emotions.

What's even funnier is that when critics are voiced about Stenberg it's almost exclusively around the failed Mae plotline, its incoherences and the lack of depth, character arc and emotions. But, mind you, she acts a whole other character that usually isn't even mentioned ! Because the writing is so bad that Osha is basically useless in the first 4 episodes, and even the actress is lost at what to do with her. Forgettable and forgotten. What a mess.

She's just there and the plot happens for reasons. The screenplay is like a bad radio drama 😬...

The issue with casting based on race nowadays is that directors don’t know how to direct said actors. And they wouldn’t dare because they wouldn’t want to come off as racist. A white woman telling a black girl how to walk and talk? Blasphemy. So the alternative is just….be yourself but stoic. This is the end result we got. Luckily they didn’t go to the infamous one twin has an American accent while the other has an English accent. I mean, they do both have two mothers that have two different accents. It is right there.

I would just like to mention that its not the scripts responsibility to add emotional context or even hints. The script reads lines about what meaning should be conveyed. It shouldnt read anything about how they are said. Not even what words to use to convey the message. Prime examples of this is captain jack sparrow. On the fucking page jack is a completely neutral and very much rational person (his stuntman tricks are literally just a product of desperation according to the script). You hand the script to Johnny depp and he becomes a fucking maniac.

*Disney’s Strange Behavior Explained* Lately Disney has been producing flop after flop, which are ruining IPs that Disney has acquired, such as Star Wars. These failures are partly due to mismanaging IP consistency, partly due to ham-handed culture-war brow-beating, and partly due to cringeworthy dialog, wooden characters, chaotic pacing, idiot plots, amateurish costuming, and mediocre special effects. But why those reasons? Here are three theories for Disney’s strange behavior: *Monopolistic Business Practices.* Disney is a monopoly. Their business plan is to eliminate the competition. One way is to buy that competition, then ruin its brand by wretched writing and ham-handed culture-war hectoring. Disney doesn’t ruin IPs to push DEI: they push DEI to ruin IPs. The true-believers who do the dirty work are useful idiots for their scheming bosses. *Money Laundering.* The Acolyte spent $180,000,000 for mediocre special effects. Why? Maybe the execs skimped on special effects and kicked back most of the money to themselves and their friends-of-friends. *“The Producers”,* by Mel Brooks, tells the tale of two corrupt producers who run a fraudulent scheme for making money by producing a deliberately failed show, then writing off the loss in taxes. Disney could be doing the same. All three of these theories can be true at the same time, and indeed can synergize. Disney targets a competing IP: they buy it, then deliberately ruin it by inept writing from useful idiots, by performative diversity hiring, and by skimping on costuming and special effects. The money not spent is kicked back to the execs and their friends-of-friends. The shows fail, the IP is ruined, and the cost to Disney is an investment in monopoly maintenance. They write off the loss to avoid taxes. I recommend that the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice act to break up Disney for monopolistic business practices. The DoJ should also investigate money laundering and tax fraud.

As a Filmmaker, your film can made or broken in the editing room, you can film a truly awful film, but if your a good editor, you'd be surprised at the outcome. Editing is your storytelling, how you turn the page and recite the story to your audience, you have to draw them in and hit them with the magic of your tale, every pause, every music cue, every word, expression and action.. is all in the editing (and a whole heap of reshoots lol). This happens a lot to Asian actors in sci-fi. They make them boring. Star Trek enterprise and runaways are great examples. I though Linda park was a terrible and boring actress, but when they did the mirror universe episode and she was evil version of herself, she shined.. The same for Britany Ishibashi. Boring and lame in Runaways as the evil scientist witch mother. Stern and uninspired, then later in the season the plot causes her character to change and she's fun and a breath of fresh air.

I don't think it's a disaster it's just generic and you can tell she's just inexperienced in the fantasy genre. It's not like any Star Wars is a masterclass of directing or acting you know. And dude you cannot pull a good performance in editing yes you can control emotions with timing and music but Haydens crappy performance could not be corrected. They where starting to edit digitally in that era and they actually took everyones best performance and masked them together George Lucas actually made a big deal out of this.

I hate current DEI StarWars. But you CANNOT slight her as a leading lady. She's doing fine with the material she's given. 7/10 really in my book. Qimir is great, Sol is great, the green jedi lady is bad... really bad...cringe in fact. The white/orange young jedi is bad... like 2/10. The blame lies squarely on the DEI writers, producers and execs.... they are dogshit.

I agre with everything except the "I dont like sand" line being unnatural. I think people need to listen closer to how real people talk. Many times in my life, when I told someone during a discussion that I love winter and snow, Ive heard how people hated snow because its "cold, slippery and turns quickly into dirty slush". I believe someone who only knew desert world since being little and later discovering they could have been vorn on any of the other beautiful planets, would hate the sand and described it as Anakin did.

The people who loved, "I hate sand," are now professional acting critics... I'll give this video one thing, at least it specifies what it finds wrong with the show, unlike most of the others. HOWEVER, the example used here is offbase. In that opening scene, Stenberg's character Mae is *supposed* to sound immature and ridiculously out of place. Do you know how the audience can tell? The aliens at the table immediately laugh at her (context clues). Challenging someone who you've perceived to have done you wrong is a staple of wuxia films, which was the influence for this scene. In other words, the author of this video doesn't know what he's talking about and is just using "acting" as an excuse to make another Diversity = Bad hitpiece. But again, congratulations on at least specifying something that one can debate instead of just saying "The Acolyte sucks," for the 800th time.

The hilarious lunacy of this video is that there was ever a well acted series. It's always been campy, and directed for kids. It's nit the actress, it's it not meeting what you have in your head. Which most likely defaults to a white dude that's a poor actor. Comparing a newbie to Andrew Garfield is also apples and oranges.

Apparently the incel has not seen any other Star Wars film or TV show it it's focused on directing or acting. They are all cringe. From the very first film to right now. So there must be another reason the incels are seething over Acolyte. We all know what it it. Insecurity.
