@alexeysavelyev
@alexeysavelyev Ай бұрын
@@lawrencemanning if many fans think something is dumb, stating something contradicts other statements when it doesn't - it's not dumb. If something doesn't get mentioned in other forms of media - it doesn't mean something was dumb either. Something to mean dumb means to be unreasonable. Using that logic, you can also be mad and say ESB explaining the Force in other way than Obi Wan did and physically training Luke is dumb, because Luke already succesfully used the Force in ANH. TPM extension of Force isn't dumb nor does it contradict what was depicted in previous films. Just because it got biological and can be measured, doesn't mean it stopped being pseudo-religious.

They are trying but if Episode 3 plays out like it is said in the video clip, I'm just gonna pass it off as a coven's erroneous belief system on what The Force is and its nature. Heres the thing though, and this is what I find hilariously ironic about this episode plot. If you read the Darth Plagueis novel by James Luceno (which used to be canon) we learned that The Force doesn't like being manipulated to create life like you're a god. If you attempt such The Force will strike back. In the wake of Plagueis trying it as a response The Force created Anakin. Which in a roundabout cruel twist of fate. fulfilled his prophecy and brought balance to The Force, destroying The Sith. And here we have a coven of witches, creating twins, from The Force, whom ironically. destroys the coven. I don't think that was the writer's intention, seems like the intention was to "prove" that The Force was female. But seems more like The Force gave the middle finger to those chicks, lol.

I do not have a problem with alternate force religions/ideologies. That is a decent part of the EU. You have groups like the Night Sisters and the Aing-Tii who see the force differently. However, those factions were created to expand the world and make the galaxy a more interesting place. I doubt that is Disney's motivation for creating a new force ideology. I expect it is not to expand and create but to subvert and destroy.

So… their entire philosophy is that _the Jedi are appropriating power that rightfully belongs to women._ Right? That’s why you get the line “it’s about power, and who gets to wield it.”
@jasoncawley7512
@jasoncawley7512 Ай бұрын
Pagan feminist witches are the legitimate wielders of magical power, while Jedi are Christian knights so they are an evil patriarchy usurping that magical power and oppressing women. The persecution of witches has been the communist's stock in trade since the Crucible was used as a metaphor to fight McCarthy, and they never invent anything new when they can just run the same play again and again. Jedi are evil because they are knights, and Christian, and religious, and patriarchal, and the hero's journey. Evil witches fighting them are misunderstood and oppressed righteous self empowerment and sisterhood. Ideologies never have new thoughts, and they can never abide the morality they exist to revolt against - in any form. And this is stupendously clever as well as subversive to the activists doing all this. They are heretics and proud to be heretics and everyone wants to be a heretic and stick it to the Man - who is daddy Obi-wan, the externalized super ego they have never been able to measure up against. Standards themselves are what oppress those who fail to meet them, and liberation consists in smashing them to pieces and trampling anyone who admired them into a bottomless muck.

I literally became disenchanted with Star Wars within the first ten minutes of ‘The Force Awakens,’ Blu ray despite the film's immense acclaim at the time( I didn't catch it during its theatrical run ) , I have never finished that movie or even bothered to watch the rest of the trilogy. It was clear to me that if this film was the benchmark for future installments, then perhaps Star Wars was diverging from my tastes. However, there have been notable exceptions that I gave my time to. ‘Rogue One’ was a delightful surprise, thanks to the creative vision of Gareth Edwards and Tony Gilroy whom I have always held in high regard and I wasn't disappointed. This led me to purchase the ‘Andor’ 4K Steelbook my only other Disney SW purchase, which, to my delight, has surpassed my expectations as well ,even more than Rogue One did.

In a Catholic female monastic order the abbess is called mother, the nuns are called sisters. Calling it a thread vs a force permeating all life doesn't bother me. But if force powers could be exponentially multiplied by multiple force users working together, wouldn't the Jedi and Sith, in their long traditions found out and also used that aspect of the force to their advantage? The force is now apparently anything a lore-ignorant author comes up with to suit their plots.
@MysticTroll
@MysticTroll Ай бұрын
In the clone wars, you had 3 Jedi combine their mind trick Ability, amplifying it to dominate a highly resistant prisoner. In SWTOR you had mutliple force users combine their telekinesis if you will, to lift a capital size starship from the ground. Kanan and Ezra combine their force push to knock back Darth Vader in rebels. Just a few examples. (Edit) Since we want to argue semantics about my examples not citing "exponential increases", I'll add some specifics off the top of my head, I know more about legends then canon so bear with me: Force Lightning: In Legends, the ritual known as "Tempest" involved multiple Sith Lords channeling their Force Lightning into a single, devastating blast. This could be considered an exponential increase, with the combined power far exceeding what any individual Sith could produce. Unintentional Synergy: Force Nexus: Canon depicts locations strong in the Force, like the planet Ilum (introduced in The Clone Wars), where Jedi could achieve feats beyond their normal abilities. While not a direct combination, the Force Nexus amplifies their powers, creating an exponential effect based on the location. Legends-Specific Examples (Focusing on Collective Power): Force Meditation: Legends lore mentions powerful Force enclaves like the Krath or the Brotherhood of the Sith using a form of meditation to amplify their collective Force power. This could manifest in various ways, from enhancing their individual abilities to projecting powerful illusions or manipulating entire planets. (Exar Kun and Naga Sadow) Force Mass Drain: Another Legends concept, the Force Mass Drain, involved Sith rituals where multiple Sith Lords would drain the life force from a large number of beings simultaneously. The combined power was said to be exponentially greater than what any single Sith could achieve. (Darth Vitiate and argumentation for Darth Nihilus via mass shadow generator, a force imbued superweapon) Theories and Limitations: It's important to note that these are mostly from Legends, where the Force was often depicted as more malleable. Canon tends to be more reserved about the exact mechanics of Force amplification. Additionally, there might be limitations to this "collective power." The need for coordination, potential for conflicting wills, or even the Force itself resisting manipulation by too many users could all be factors. I hope these revised examples better illustrate the concept of exponential Force power through combined actions.

As with anything that people criticize Disney Star Wars for, I have to point out that George Lucas started it. Go back to Revenge of the Sith. Listen to how Palpatine tells Anakin that with their combined powers, they can save Padme. Look, I know people keep going after Disney, but George started ruining Star Wars back in 1997 when he thought shoving CGI into the OT and telling fans that the goal is for them to never see the original theatrical editions ever again was a good idea. George named Luke Skywalker after himself (Lucas = Luke), and Darth Vader being Luke's father was about George's issues with his father. But in reality, George Lucas was Anakin Skywalker (doing some not-so-good things from 1997 on), and he became Darth Vader when he sold Star Wars to Disney. Vader was originally a lackey for the Empire, and that's what George is now for Disney.

@@G360LIVE horrible argument. Most of the changes to the original trilogy (not all) were reasonable enhancements (you’re a liar if you think seeing a bunch of points of light in ANH or a bunch of walls in ESB is superior to seeing X-Wings take off or getting a better impression of Cloud City’s size). My only criticism would be trying to make Han not shoot first and tweaking it a dozen times. Also, Palpatine was literally lying to Anakin. Simply doing NOTHING would have had a much better outcome for Padme. Not a good example.
@John-fk2ky

@@MysticTroll you seem to miss the difference between “add to” and “exponentially increase”. Every single one of those examples is also one of Jedi each doing their own action that either eases the actions of others or adds to the end result. Obi Wan told us way back in 1977 exactly what the Force was. And as much as some people hate the midi chlorians, they didn't change the nature of the Force. Nobody had any problem with anything in Star Wars until Disney got their hands on it and hired people who hate it to be in charge.

It's hard for me to keep up with the star wars lore/universe! Did you guys notice Amy Tsang is in Episode 3? You guys interviewed me for my film a year ago that she starred in. Chris and Alan you both rock! Thanks for sharing your expert thoughts on this.
