Osha & Mae are textbook examples of an Idiot Plot. This whole show wouldn't exist if they just talked for 5 minutes in earnest.

It's so clear Disney's chopping these shows into smaller chunks to add a subscription cycle.

The hair cutting scene made me gasp from second hand cringe.

Cortosis metal and weave (cloth) existed as far back, thousands of years prior, in the Old Republic. It was used to make Vibroblades and Vibroswords specifically so non-jedi could engage force users that had lightsabers. Lightsabers cannot pass through cortosis, so the blade could be parried / blocked (there are extensive codex entries in Kotor 1 and Kotor 2 about it). Cortosis was also be added to some armors for protection against sabers, and was even made into a weave material to make saber-resistant cloth.

Jecki was the only Jedi who fought like a Knight or Master. She was the only one who put up a mild challenge and thought to knock his helmet off without letting her blade touch it. She was Mace Windu, and all the other Jedi were the guys who forgot their training against Palpatine.

I also liked the way Mae literally watched the jedi saving her from the Sith multiple times. Sol even throwing his weapon away when the Sith had a saber to Mae's head. And then STILL says the Jedi are evil in the next scene when talking to her sister.......

The true weakness of this show is the sisters. Without them, there's potential, but they and the actress' inability to act ruin the project.

Smilo Ren, easily defeats 6+ Jedi Knights. Pretty much easily toys with Sol, and bests him one on one with a lightsaber. Struggles to handle a 5ft tiny padawan. Yeah, no hidden agenda there.... Just have a Sith that can take down 6+ Jedi Knights, toys with a Jedi Master.... but that darn tiny padawan.... nope can't dominate her until the plot decides he needs a cool face reveal.

Alex brings up a great point, Jedi trained to avoid the rising of a sith, so sith faded into myth. Can you imagine a jedi running into something that you heard so much bad about, but to an extent faded from your belief because you had never seen or encountered one. Now you are face to face with a great evil that at one point or another you probably questioned their existence. That should honestly be a super intimidating moment that I imagine only a truly seasoned jedi would have the resolve to face without their emotions being hindered.

Osha was so freaking idiotic stopping Sol from decapitating Smilo. The shills try to say it is to prevent him from going to the dark side which is ridiculous as Sol literally witnessed Smilo kill all his Jedi friends so to let Smilo live would be a dereliction of duty. It would be like saying Obi-Wan will turn to the dark side for killing Maul. Osha basically did to Sol, what Anakin did to Mace Windu. The twins being all over in their motivations and morals really is trash writing. Also, the real kicker was that they tried to setup this Love Triangle between Dork and Jeki and so if that's the case...Osha didn't seem too heart broken or conflicted that both her love interests just got murdered by the guy she saved from execution.

I would have enjoyed the fight, if Sol didnt mysteriously disappear for 30 mins at the start of it and if Jecki didnt perform leagues above every other Jedi including her master and including 5-6 jedi at once vs Qimir, not to mention Qimir taking the person he WANTS to kill as hostage and Sol dropping his weapon because of it, it's just all sooooo bad.

The sith are a very specific line of dark side users where an apprentice trains to kill thier master making them progressively stronger and stronger. and if Mae was arrested in that moment, while i agree with the sentiment she shouldve said something. That episode was absolute fire! The combat scene was peak Star Wars. Better duels than what we've seen on the Obi-Wan an Ashoka series that's for sure.

I've been waiting for this one! So Mae went from: "I'm gonna kill my sister and the Jedi!" Then (out of no where) to: "My loyalties lie with my sister! I'm gonna turn myself in!" Then (out of no where again) to: "I'm gonna betray my sister again, steal her clothes, and leave her to rot on this jungle planet only to be kidnaped by the Sith dude." Also, Sol(or however you spell his name, I don't give a flying shit enough to check) should have naturally sensed that it was Mae in disguise, and not Osha. And if Mae goes on to be around other Jedi whilst in disguise, and she STILL doesn't get sensed, that's gonna piss people off and I can't wait for it haha! Ok, credit where credit is due: the fighting was pretty good. Jeke put up the best fight. Her and Yord's death was brutal. I found it funny that Sith dude stabbed Jeke 3 times like as if he watched other Disney Star Wars trash and wanted to make damn sure that Jeke wouldn't survive. But like a few minutes in and the Sith dude is.....breaking Light Saber blades?? With his arm and helmet??? UuuUuuMMmmM W U T???? I mean, I can see it being deflected if its made of Beskar, but totally breaking the saber beam?? Oh ya, the Sith using Force Heal is complete dog shit. Force Heal is only useable by Light Side users or REALLY POWERFUL Dark Side users, not just any sith person can use it. Disney is just using the Force Heal to explain how Rey was able to use it like, "See everyone, Force Heal is a thing!" But soooo what's the plan now? I feel like the story should have ended here. There were plenty of opportunities for the Sith dude to die. Kill him, Sol lives on to cover up the "Sith" appearance, Mae is captured and put in prison, Osha is released and goes on about her life. End of story. That should've been the way it ended, but it didn't so what do now? Is Mae really gonna try to infiltrate Corascant or something? There's no way. Is Sith dude gonna take Osha as her apprentice? Is Osha gonna turn to the Dark Side? What the fuck is going on?? This series' sole purpose is to make the Jedi look as dumb, immoral, and as incompetent as humanly possible.

6/10 is far too generous for this slop

Completely agree with your assessment...the light sabre battle was cool (when they let us see what was going on) but the writing for the two sisters makes no sense and there doesn't seem to be any real direction for the plot of the series. Jecki was the stand out character of the fight, but I did love the novelty of the hidden "main-gauche" sabre. With regard to prospect for a second season, I really don't see the point of it as it stands now...and perhaps best summed up by a quote from my favorite movie - "Maybe you haven't been keeping up with current events but we just got our asses kicked pal!"

TLDR - Cool moments in an otherwise shitty show.

Not only was Ryan vs Dorkman better lightsaber fights than The Acolyte, it had better writing too. The stories were more believable.

I'll give them props for having the balls to kill main characters and Jekki was definitely a highlight, I'm happy she got some good hits in. The Sol and Smilo fist fight was cool too and I'll give the line "well I wore a mask" a point as well because it made me chuckle because of how goofy it was. But no matter how many good fights there are it can't save the really subpar writing

Man, so good Joe mentioning "Ryan vs Dorkman", that is one of the best lightsaber duels ever. For anyone that haven't seen it before, definitely recommended, together with "Ryan vs Dorkman 2" and "Ryan vs Brandon".

I've actually been liking this series, as I like the themes of grief and regret that it's at least trying to explore (but took a backseat in this episode). But I recognize the inconsistencies in the writing with motivations, and agree with them on that. I don't know why Mae just doesn't freakin' stay on character motivation or communicate with anyone (Jackie or her sister). And if Mei just said that her sister matters, without giving the idea of turning herself in to the Jedi, then it would make more sense that she still attacks the Jedi (because only her sister matters). But nope. That said, my bar is really low, and Ahsoka... Ugh, I felt the show was such a waste of time, so coming off of that show I like this one better. Acolyte is at least not only trying to explore the themes I mentioned above, but the show has also been more critical of the Jedi I think than Disney has... Ever really done, to my knowledge. I've been waiting for that. I think we will get a bit more of that in the next few episodes, no doubt Osha will be getting a whole new perspective from that Sith guy now, after she keeps holding on to her ideals of what Jedi are. Maybe he'll even explain to her what Sol has done, or may have done, too (she already asked Sol what the Sith guy meant when he called Sol out). I'd like for the series to somehow end with Osha being the Acolyte and killing her sister Mei (and maybe the Sith guy). Haha But yeah, by far the character inconsistencies are my main issue. If they ironed that out, I think this series could be way better. But I am still really liking the show, at least for it feeling different with the themes and being critical of the Jedi pretending to be this perfect organization.
