You forgot the best part where girl Frodo and girl Sam go off with girl Frodo’s mom and the old guy to find Sauron #2 before Sauron #3 finds him, thereby leaving everyone else behind right after all their food and supplies had been destroyed. Seems like the type of thing you’d want to stick together for, but nah, girl Frodo and girl Frodos mom abandon their cripple husband and Harrfoot chief abandons his ENTIRE TRIBE to go find Sauron #2. This show is perfectly nonsensical, I’m convinced the writers were huffing paint when writing the first and only draft of the script

The idea that the elves can lose their immortality proves the show runners don’t know anything about Tolkien. Immortality is a gift given to them by illuvatar and cannot be taken away by any darkness. Tolkien makes very clear that the fates of men and elves is something that only illuvatar has authority over
@jsw973

Except for when they're corrupted into orcs though, but then again it can be argued that the original orcs are immortal, while their descendants are not. @@jsw973 Tolkien wrote and rewrote various origins for the orcs. The orcs if they were once elves must be counted among the elves even when they are so badly corrupted. I believe the red book, in deep geek, and other KZfaqrs have talked about this in videos such as “how long do orcs live”

@@josuesolisgamboa3376 when Melkor made the world his ring he corrupted everything until the end of days. When an elf stays in middle earth the elf is still immortal but the physical world would begin to have a corrupting influence on their physical body but their spirit would remain causing them to die. And elves can die but the difference between men and elves is that men would stay dead going to another place to await the end of days but elves would slowly be healed and returned to the world being bound in it for as long as it exists.

As immensely stupid as this show is, Jackson has some incredibly stupid changes to the LoTR story too, one of the prime ones being that Saruman not only knew of the existence of the Balrog in Moria (which he did not), to also forcing the party into Moria, into the clutches of said Balrog!. To top off this stupidity, he also had Gandalf know of the Balrog's existence. Either of the Istari to put the ring within the grasp of a Balrog, is up there with the writing prowess of Rings of Power, and absolutely stupid (especially when he was apparently supposed to have Tolkien experts working on the movies!).

Not to mention that balrog and wizards re kind of the same breed too, so if they felt something wake up.... yea. also think bout it. It would 100% be something that Sarumon in his corrupt state would do. If the ring fell into a balrog's hand then it would incite civil war within the forces of darkness and would weaken it. So at the end of episode 6 every main character is at the village. The last time we see them, Elendil is trying to reach the queen, Miriel and Halbrand are trying to put the villagers to safety, Isildur is looking for his horse, Arondir and Bronwyn are looking for Theo and Galadriel is standing around like an idiot. At the beginning of episode 7 Galadriel wakes up, sees a dead body, hear people call for help, ignores them, calls for Halbrand once and stumbles upon Theo, who is looking for his mother. And then they both leave without having found anyone they're supposed to be looking for. Isildur tries to help Valandil and then Miriel appears with a few villagers, she helps Isildur to save Valandil, they save a few other villagers from a burning house, Isildur gets crushed by debris (no he doesn't, we know that) and then Miriel and Valandil leave without verifying if Isildur is dead. Next time we see the Southlands Elendil is leading a band of soldiers and villagers towards the numenorean camp (they had one? Anyway...). When did he leave the village, and why did he without the queen? When did he organize this group of survivors? Then Valandil and Miriel join him, but the villagers they saved aren't there, I guess they gave them the Harfoot treatment. Meanwhile Theo and Galadriel are walking through the ash and despite going to and coming from the very same places than the other characters they don't meet any of them... And Arondir and Bronwyn are already at the camp when the others arrive, which means they just left the village without looking for Theo... I also love of those numbskulls try to have some tension over Bronwyn possibly being dead but the marketing team decided to promote the episode before its release by showing some stills, one of which clearly shows Bronwyn in perfect health. -Miriel going blind is the set up for Ar-Pharazon to marry her. -Nori's dad doesn't have a foot injury anymore btw. Big dude gone now, so he can walk again. -The wizard is supposed to be Radaghast most likely.. Because of the interaction with the trees and such.. maybe? Even though the wizards didn't come into play until AFTER Numenor fell. Manwe sent them specifically to help the humans and elves vanquish Sauron once and for all. and they arrived in Middle earth around the year TA 1000. -The Numenorians set up the camp OUTSIDE the range of the pyroclastic cloud zone.. coincidence surely. Timeline issues: -The land of Mordor was created by Melkor/Morgoth in the First age. -Sauron begins building Barad-dur in SA1000.. -Numenor Fell in SA 3319. The Second age ended at year 3441. Balrog was awoken in TA 1980. This show so far is before the fall of Numenor, Balrog is about 2100 years early. Which means that is when Khazad-dum fell after a year of trying to fight it off. -Mithril has been around and is used by dwarves and elves. Most of it is mined from Moria, but there were some deposits on Numenor and Aman. One of the earliest references to mithril was the Vingilot, the ship of Earendil, constructed in FA 525 and 534.

Amusing fact. Mount doom is actually a good bit lower than the Ephel Dúath; the mountains of shadow that surround Mordor. That is why it takes Frodo and Sam a far longer time to climb the pass of Kirith Ungol where Shelob is, than to climb mount doom at the end. So this volcano not only chucks debris an astonishingly long way, but on a very interesting trajectory to go up and over the mountains without hitting them, actually it's accuracy just to destroy apple trees is sort of impressive! Shad, a little note: that line about Galadriel meeting her husband when she was dancing in a meadow of flowers was actually stolen from another character in Tolkien's work. It was another Elf Princess called Luthien who met her husband that way, he was a human warrior named Beren. Luthien, incidentally was based on Edith, J.R.R. Tolkien's wife. He based Beren on himself. Galadriel met Celeborn whilst staying with her Aun and uncle in the Elven Kingdom of Doriath in the First Age. It was with that Aunt, Melian, that she learned much about magic and wisdom.

With Celeborn confirmed dead and, presumably, no daughter, then it is confirmed that this can not be Lord of the Rings as they have changed how future events will play out. This is Lords on the Ridings, the Chinese bootleg version. Edit: The showrunners have mystery boxed him, it seems. They were very precise in saying he is "missing", and want to keep his fate ambiguous.

From what I have heard, the Tolkien estate has banned them killing off canon characters, so they cannot kill off Isildur or Celeborn unless or in the way and time they die in canon. One scene I really hate at the end was when Galadriel, Miriel & Bronwyn were having a little girlboss mutual solidarity moment at the end, and poor Elendil was just crying off screen by himself because he thought his son was dead. None of them asked him if he was OK after all he had done for them (co-ordinating the evacuation basically) or just reached out to him. He's just left to weep quietly in the corner because men don't matter.

Usually we don't meddle with active volcanos but during handling of forest fires it is advised to wear face masks because fine dust can enter your lungs. Fortunatly wood ash particles are mostly round and have a smooth surface so one will cough them up eventually, also they are not very toxic since they have little mineralic content which could react to acids by contact with water.

If the show had instead gotten rid of the “elves don’t notice the evil and forget it” plot and instead had a “leader of elves notices evil is around but doesn’t want to fight it again and plans to leave for Valinor next time evil gains strength”, then I think a lot of their issues with the story would be fixed. Galadriel’s mission then could be about revenge at first but then as she gets to know the other people of Middle Earth and starts to care about them her motivation changes to a good moral one which is to protect the good people of Middle Earth. That would have been a nice character arc for Galadriel. As she is at first not leaving with the other elves because she wants to repay Sauron for killing her brother. But, over time her motivation changes from personal revenge to helping others. And maybe some of the other elves join her eventually after her motivation is helping the people of Middle Earth. Basically her quest of just eliminating Sauron but not caring about staying or not in Middle Earth would change to caring about Middle Earth and actually wanting to stay. It would be very similar to LOTRs which isn’t great but at least it would make sense.

In the actual canon the elves behaved similar to what is betrayed here in the show. What the show fails to do is show why they don’t care about the evil, and are behaving this way. In the canon they were sick of war, and destruction, because of how brutal and horrific the war against melkor was. Once melkor was defeated they knew any evil left could never be equal to melkor the strongest god lluvutar created by far. So they were sick of war, and just wanted to enjoy the peace. This was the attitude of most of the elves. They didn’t necessarily want to return to the west they wanted to finally have peace in middle earth. Because we as viewers view Sauron as a great threat we forget Sauron is a minor inconvenience compared to melkor. Some Tolkien lore expert can break down the why, but in the story we go with melkor being the first bad guy with valar fighting against him, than he goes to middle earth, and pours his power into middle earth, and nerfs himself, then valar leave it to the elves, Maiar to deal with, but in the end the finally intervene and get rid of melkor, and then Sauron comes along, and Maiar help a little but it’s the elves and men who are left to deal with him, but after he loses the ring and is nerfed the elves leave the men to deal with Sauron well helping in small ways, and than after Sauron is defeated. The final bad guy is Saruman, and it’s left entirely up to the hobbits to defeat him. Now by my logic it would seem logical that the valar should have defeated melkor from the start, but they left the elves to fight him to grow character. Than it would seem logical the Maia should have defeated Sauron, but they leave it to the elves (when he was at full power) than the humans after he lost the ring and was nerfed (so they grow character). Than the men who were literally just saved by the hobbits again leave the hobbits to win back the shire and defeat a nerfed Maia (to grow character). At any point in time there was always a good guy who could have easily defeated the evil/bad guy in middle earth, but all the powerful good guys always had the view that it needed to be a fair fight, and the good guys opposing the bad needed to be just barely strong enough to win.
@narnia1233

@@jamesdecost6009 I appreciate the details about the lore. It sounds like it’s fairly realistic to how people really react to conflicts outside of their domain essentially. For example, there’s probably conflicts happening right now in another country that a larger country could end immediately. But, people generally don’t want to get involved. Sometimes the people in the conflict also don’t want outsiders interfering either. Leaders sometimes make the call to not have outsiders help solely because of wanting to retain their image. Or they don’t fully trust outsiders. Etc. With the hobbits for example, at least in the films, the reason why they had to be the ones to destroy the ring was because no one else could be trusted. Unfortunately with the ROP show runners, they’ve literally said that the message in their show is going to be about everyone overcoming all differences-basically everyone trusting one another. Which probably isn’t a good idea considering this is a prequel. And we know that in the future that trust isn’t there. Essentially they’re aiming for utopia. But, that’s actually I think the opposite of Tolkien’s story, from what I’ve heard. Other people have told me that the beginning of the world basically it was peaceful but got corrupted. And basically that the corruption gets worse over time. Wars, conflicts over time breaking trust, etc. Of course there’s probably times where the trust is mended and there’s peace but overall everyone’s history has more complications as time goes on. That’s my guess on the lore of Tolkien’s world based on what I’ve heard.

BTw, just to point out that "mordor", simply means "black land", in elvish, the same way "moria", means black pit, or "morgul", means black sorcery. Something that really bothers me about the Elrond-Dwarfs conflict, on top of you've already mentioned: Gil-Galad had told Elrond that if the Elves were to die out, the whole of Middle Earth would be in danger because the armies of darkness would be marching with no resistance (which already contradicts Gil-Galad's logic with Galadriel, but let's leave this aside). Now... WHY DOES ELROND NOT BRING THIS UP WITH THE DWARF KING? Elrond fails to convince him to get the Elves access to Mithril but does not use his best argument, which is that keeping the Elves alive and in place would avoid a danger for the Dwarves too, by opposing the rising evil. So all they need is to put the mithril near the tree to cure it, and the entire race of elves will be fine. The darkness isn't killing the elves directly, it is killing the tree that gives the elves immortality, at least that's what I thought.

Damn the more i play SHADOW OF MORDOR/Shadow of War ( part 2 ) the more i'm loving the lore of LOTR ~ & yes Isildur is semi-final boss in tht.. & please Shad or Oz please review tht game it even has good Armor and swords a lotta moves for Shadiversity to breakdown. Writing is way more awesome it fills the Void made by this show..

Definitely better than the writing of this show, but unfortunately SoM is also non-canon, there are lots of variations to the actual lore. At least those aren't terrible.

I don't think Celeborn is dead - even for this show it'd be too dumb to bring him up only to say he's dead. If they didn't want him there they could have easily just (kept) pretending that they just haven't met yet. So he'll show up - how they're going to justify him leaving to think he's dead for centuries I have no idea. But then, they'll probably gloss over this detail.

Yes, please, make that comment about tossing the show into the fires of Mount Doom as a meme! 😄

at this point would not be surprised if Galadriel turns out to be Saruman. and the real Galadriel is still in that northern mountain searching for saruman alone.

They completely lost me when they gave the credit of mount doom eruption to an old man with a key and not Sauron. They just making Sauron looks like a weak dude with no super power and even giving orcs leadership and the making of Mordor to Adar 🥱

Shad, the cloud DID kill Guyladriel, but as soon as she got to Hell, she demanded to see the manager and Satan sent her back to Middle-Earth because he couldn't stand her either.

I beg to differ on that it's the Eru's design, because it kind of is. Eru creates Melkor and Melkor's discord in the song of creation is part of the world, and it was Eru's intent to have that in the world. I think it doesn't make Eru evil, Eru just makes the world to have free will to have people make their decisions. I'd say it's almost the same with most religions.

In Judeo-Christianity evil is not a separate entity that needs to be specifically created for it to exist. Evil is simply the negation of good, or rather, the lack of good. Lack of love, lack of respect, lack of humility, lack of honesty, et cetera. Once good things exist, and they have free will, they can simply opt to not to manifest the qualities they were granted. (Notice that things like anger, hatred or jealousy are not inherently evil in Judeo-Christianity. There is righteous anger, you ought to hate evil, and God is jealous about us.) That said, God knew even before He created anything, that many of the beings He would create would turn to evil, and that even when presented with the option of forgivance, many of them wouldn't turn away from evil. So God created the universe and the mankind so that He would have to save them (or the willing among them) by dying for them. This means that the universe was created as a great stage, where God would profess His love for His creatures by committing the greatest possible act of love for them, in order to convince them to love Him back. This act of passionate love is only necessary and only possible because the fall into evil inevitably happened. So yes, God knew in advance what His creatures would do, but it was still the in the free will of those creatures to do it. God just planned around it to a point where the inevitability of evil leads the story of existance to its most glorious possible variant: the fact that we were created out of love to be redeemed with self-sacrificing love, so that we would fall in love with our creator willingly.

Skin isn't tougher than stone or wood. On the burning scale I'm pretty sure flesh is at the bottom for easiest to burn next to flammable liquids and hair. But not a single burn or singed eyebrow in sight... But the buildings a torched huh

36:00 Ironically, if you're right about the tree becoming corrupted as a warning of Sauron's rise, and Halbrand is Sauron, then Gilgalad might have been right that Galadriel returning to Valinor would have stopped it as he was attempting to peacefully retire before she pulled him back in.

Wasn't it funny how Galadriel ignores everyone screaming for help while calling out for what's his name and what's his name, and then she just walks off with Theo who is fine and she has no attachment to while completely ignoring the others forgetting that everyone else they might be looking for would have been right there in the village as well. How did people get split up at all?
