As a kid, I lived in that area for about 3 years. Kenobles was a yearly school trip. This was in the mid 70’s

Love scallops! Those looked good. But, never in my 40 plus years of eating them have I ever had a scallop that tasted like an oyster. Oysters are briny and salty. Scallops are sweet and more like lobster, in sweetness. Bobbi, the chicken looked good as well. Love your blouse. You always look so pretty!

We took our kids years to Knoebels many years ago, it's a litle under 3 hours from where we live. Nice clean family owned park, and great for younger kids as they have a lot of kiddie type rides. I don't remember if we ate at the Alamo, but it looks like decent food for an amusement park. Thanks for the memories.

No matter the temp, I cannot resist soup, especially French Onion! LOL I just love soup. The scallops looked so nice. I am so glad they tasted good and weren't rubbery! They gave such a huge portion for the fried chicken. Looked great! Shrimps being shellfish, they have some great health benefits, but some risks as well. Scallops are always a better option (both are yummy!).

I used to work at The Alamo. It was so fun to work there and they treated us real well. At lunchtime they would feed us and we could choose from many of the menu items. I can tell you that all of the food is excellent. Good choice w/ the hot bacon, but you really missed out by not trying the chicken & waffles or the fries. They are some of the best fries I’ve ever had and they are different from the fries near the Oasis which are fresh cut btw and also some of the best I’ve had once you add the salt & vinegar on them. The French onion soup is good too and should have a lot of cheese in it at the bottom if nothing has changed.

Love the Alamo. Hands down best amusement park ever. Go every chance I can which is not frequent enough. Grew up with that park and family that are now gone (who also loved the Alamo). So many wonderful memories & my heart will always be there.

Haven't been to Knoebels in years! Bought back memories! I never realized there was a sit down restaurant back there! I agree with John that hot bacon dressing is delicious. Yum. I love scallops too! Never saw such a good menu at any amusement park! All the food looked good. The restaurant decor looked so nice. Love the paintings and murals plus old school vibe! I agree with Bobbie that those flowers were so pretty! Another awesome video guys! Oh and John... .my husband and I both love birch beer!

Now you're getting close to my neck of the woods I live in Harrisburg. We love Knoebels, although we haven't been up for a while because of Covid. As a fan of wooden roller coasters, the phoenix there is one of the best in the world. Next time we're up there, we will make a point of eating at the Alamo. I hope you had a wonderful time. I have eaten scallops only once at a fancy corporate dinner and they were great. I grew up on the west coast and my parents didn't like seafood much. Our amusement parks were Disney, Knotts Berry Farm and Six Flags. I would like to visit Kenobles and Alamo some time.

I would love those scallops!!!! The chicken looked great!!!! I like coleslaw finely chopped……My sister works a school and their mashed potatoes come in a bag….She brought a bag of the mashed potatoes..they were so good..The school sent her a bad before Christmas bread and we all liked them…Anywas this places great!!

I just came across this. Im 47, live in Delaware, but my family had a cabin about 45 min from here in Pennsylvania. I had to laugh when you pronounced Elysberg. Its actually pronounced Ellies-berg. You wouldn't know that though unless you were from this area. My 2 daughter's grew up here & are now 25 & 26. Our last child our son who is 9 has enjoyed Knoebels for many years w his 2 cousins who are close in age to him. My parent's no longer have the cabin. As we got older no one wanted the responsibility of it so it was sold between my Grandfather and a group of his friend's who built it as a hunting cabin. I always knew they had a camp ground but never needed to stay. Fast forward 30 some years & my parent's take their Grandson atleast 2xs a year for the weekend. Their food is delicious..Pierogies & Fries were our favorite. The Birch Beer is a must try I agree! Great video ❤

Great old time amusement park that if you choose not to ride, you don’t pay admission. There aren’t many who does this and I hope they continue to do so. We took our daughter and her friend there years ago and spent the night but we should had stayed an extra day. The friend ate countless numbers of enormous sized pickles on a stick. I was so concerned she would certainly get sick but she was perfectly fine. I wish we knew about the Drive In Hop that you recently made a video on. The fish looked amazing. I usually comment on your adventures that by now you guys are probably tired of me!🤣 Enjoy your travels and be safe. ❤

You went to Knobels!!! I’ve been suggesting that for a bit but I wasn’t sure you’d be able to actually go! This is awesome! I hope you can do a special on the park! (I hope you got to ride the coasters! The only trackless coaster in the world! Free admission! Free parking! Even Disneyland on its very first day had a 1.00 admission (plus buying ride tickets like Knobels still has.)

So glad you made it out to Knoebels! Such a great park we go there all of the time. Did you get to the Merry Go Round museum? I know Bobbi would love that! One little piece of advice I would not order bay scallops. They tend to have parasites in them. I used to work in a restaurant and I’ve seen them in the scallops wriggling around it was gross. You don’t have to worry about that with sea scallops. Have a great Sunday!

Ate there a few years ago got the signature chicken and waffles,enjoyed it for a amusement park,when we were up last week it was so hot and crowded just settled somewhere in there for pulled pork sandwiches and waffle fries,more craved water very hot

Another great video! I respectfully disagree with your comparison of scallops to oysters-totally different flavor profile. Scallops are much closer in flavor to lobster or crab meat-definite sweet flavor. Oysters are distinctive flavor not like any other shellfish. BTW I like ‘em all.

The food looked pretty good but there is no way that this place serves the best theme park food in the United States, considering you have fantastic theme parks with great food like Disney Epcot Food Fest, and all their find restaurants, and Busch Gardens the Old Country in Williamsburg Virginia also has very good food. I was in the food business for 40 years, and I am a scallop expert. All the bay scallops you are getting in the United States are farm-raised from Asia and they are no good. Sea scallops like you are eating come from the Atlantic Ocean from Canada down to North Carolina. But you must ask if they are dry scallops or wet scallops. Only dry scallops which are 100% natural are good. Wet scallops have water added and a chemical STPP to extend shelf-life and to make them bigger than they actually are. Wet scallops also have a slight metal taste or chemical taste. If you have sensitive taste buds you can pick that up. But being masked with garlic butter you might not be able to distinguish it. You should ask when you are in a restaurant and you should never eat wet scallops. You normally will only find high quality dry scallops along the coast in a fine seafood restaurant. Once you come Inland you usually find Wet scallops which have been artificially change and are no good. I have eaten a massive amount of high-quality scallops in my life since they are one of my favorite foods and they taste nothing like an oyster. The fact that John loves sea scallops proves that he has a taste for the Finer Foods in life, and I find that amazing. If you have a Wegmans food store, they are the only food store that I know that sell and advertise high quality dry scallops. If you want top-notch sea scallops you will have to go eat at a high quality seafood restaurant along the coast in one of the sea shore resorts.
