Try One More Time is one of my favorite ABB song... hot funk!

This is a really, really nice show...not the usual song lineup and Dickey's voice and guitar skills shine on this one ...wherever they played that night they were certainly hitti'n the note. Dan Toler was a helluva player...R.I.P Dangerous Dan ~

Jaimoe is still with them here.... he would be replaced with David "Frankie" Toler in November 1980... a decision that the band regretted later on, and Jaimoe was back for the one-off reunions in 1986/1987 as well for the full comeback in 1989.

I know its considered THE bad era of the Brothers(if there really is such a thing) but I've always loved Mystery Woman!!

The date of the video is wrong, it was September 20th 1980. I still have the ticket.

Dangerous Dan was a great player. I think he has more "feel" and is more emotive than Derek or Warren. Its what made Duane such a great player.
@IgnatiusChinaski5 жыл бұрын
you are out of your mind. dan toler is easily the worst abb ever. 1. duane 2 warren 3 dickey 4 jimmy herring 5 derek 6 jack pearson 7 dan toler. what made him dangerous is that he fvcked up the line up.

@@IgnatiusChinaski .. now that is way too harsh... and some of your "ranking" is subject to taste...

Toler was too similar to Dickey's style, IMO.
@Nocturnbandofficial3 жыл бұрын
@@Cpayne30 .. I agree on this. Toler didn't play slide, which forced Dickey to continue playing slide after Duane's death, and he could really go back to doin' his Dickey stuff only after Warren came into the band..
@Cpayne303 жыл бұрын
@@Nocturnbandofficial Yeah, that always confused me - since Dickey never particularly enjoyed playing slide, you'd expect him to want a new slide player for the band (especially since they were going to have 2 guitars again, they had something to prove). Toler was an easy choice, however. The 1978-80 band was decent, but the balance was off. Seemed like more of a continuation of Great Southern in a way. Nothing against Toler and Goldflies - they were good players, but they didn't challenge Dickey, which I think was an important dynamic they needed.

Dickey Betts‼️‼️‼️
@johnwerner49254 жыл бұрын
Some sweet R&B and soul from The Brothers! Tight as a submarine. Duane would be proud although it it helps to have Betts and Toler bending the strings with his spirit hovering large. It's a shame Betts never reconciled with the later day band. I think they'd have been an even bigger juggernaut with Trucks, Haynes, and Betts. I admit it would have been a full kitchen of cooks but darn if Betts could slide, vocalize, and pick a tasty stew. Great video underscoring the void we now have in the musical landscape.

If only Mike Lawler would have just played piano (like on "Statesboro Blues" for example, or even "Angeline") and leave his hands off those synthesizers....

Try it one more time is NOT on a horrific album.. Enlightening Rogues is an excellent under rated album.

Enlightened Rogues is a great album. Far from horrific. Reach for the sky has a few great songs but it’s not as good as enlightened rogues
@jamestomkin81193 жыл бұрын
The two Arista albums were not their best work. Songs and sound were forced by the record exec's and not their true selves. Although yes there are a couple of decent ones on them . Enlightened Rouges was fine come back album for them in 79, before the Arista albums. But any Allman Brothers is okay by me. They were and always will be The BEST F_CKING BAND EVER! EVER!!!!

They sure gave Betts a whole lot of time at this concert....I love him, but, they gave him too much time, I would rather hear Gregg sing any day of the week....
