David Latimer is the founder of New Frontier Tiny Homes. In this video he shared his 2nd tiny house build named "The Alpha Tiny House." Like the title says, this tiny house has it all. Huge kitchen, full-sized jacuzzi tub, sliding overhead glass door, king bed, stow away dining. I'll stop there. Just watch for yourself.

I just wanted to say thanks for the entertainment; I just read all the comments about what this builder was wearing....and had a few good chuckles. It's a tunic, & men in other cultures wear stuff like this all the time. It was, however, a bit distracting on some level, if for no other reason than the novelty of it. The tiny home was sleek & all, but I missed the living area feel & kept thinking what a pain in the arse it would be to have to pull out the dining table/benches & the ladder. And the table takes up sooo much space! I guess this would be perfect for a tiny house owner who loves to entertain six to eight people all the time(?). I loved the big kitchen & bath & the garage door & glass that opens the space. Anyhoo...thanks for the video! And the tunic!

Ani Bell I've seen pictures of men from cultures all over the globe and I don't think I've seen a man wearing this type of 👗 (as it nothing like a traditional tunic), at least not in this century or the last. what culture wears this thing that you know of?

Plastic Teeth - I was thinking the same thing when he said that about keeping your dogs and cats in the outdoor storage. Then, I realized that I was still trying to figure out his outfit and he probably said that you can keep their stuff in there and not actual pets. Dress, or no dress, the camera focused way too much on speaker, and not enough on the house. They should make a video about the dress, and then maybe they'll show more of the house? I like the house.

where I live you can't touch 1000 square feet for less than 350k ...you can get a condo for maybe 265k in a crapy neighborhood with high HOA. A beautifully built tiny house for under 100k would be a great option in an area like ours, where people still want something well made that they can call theirs. not all people who seek tiny homes are intending to live off the grid.

Not a dress...it's a kurtha or kamese...but in all fairness it looks like a woman's version. I can just see him standing in the Indian store and the woman is like "no no it's a very popular design in India, all the famous, hot male actors are wearing it!" And reality is no one wanted to buy it. Does NOT look good. Too bad, he's actually pretty attractive. This is a definite fail.

While I can and do appreciate great builds, my issue with the so-called top of the line tiny houses is that this is now driving up the costs of tiny homes. Instead of being affordable primary homes, they are becoming second homes, vacation homes, etc. for people like me who slave over professional jobs and earn six digit and more incomes. As soon as something becomes hip and in high demand, this drives the cost up. Anyone can build a highly efficient and sexy tiny house if they have deep pockets. Frankly, I am more impressed with tiny houses that are built by people with fixed or limited incomes, who are not slaves to the system, and who, well, tiny homes are not so picture perfect. You know, flawed beauty.

I agree!! I have seen videos of people doing it under 10k and such but that takes a lot of time, effort, patient and skill. For someone doing 8-5 job and studying that's too much! I wish there were companies that did these under $40-$50k

@Chipwhitley274
@Chipwhitley274 8 жыл бұрын
As long as there is a demand for low cost options, it will be available, and even if that slipped a bit... you always have the option of building it yourself which tends to be the true fixed/limited income avenue, and high end tiny homes doesn't affect the material cost so doesn't affect the overall cost of building it yourself. And, for some people. $95,000 for tiny high end brand new living is better than a $115,000 for small lower quality older housing.

There are some interesting design features here, but the only cozy thing about the house is the bed. Where are you going to sit at the end of the day to have a beer and watch a show? What about having a friend over for coffee? Please, sit very erect and uncomfortably on this unpadded bench.
@anastasiarenaud2568
@anastasiarenaud2568 8 жыл бұрын
Exactly. This place has lovely finishes but is terrible from a space planning perspective. If you are using the table no place for a sofa and relaxing. If you are using the table the stairs are gone so you have to jump into the kitchen if you forget something like salt or ketchup. You cant even sit up in the loft. All storage is folded clothes storage. This is unliveable and could have been avoided if someone lived in a mock up first.
@dori3will
@dori3will 8 жыл бұрын
I believe it is meant to cater to people who want to live a more simplistic life. Everyone has a different comfort zone and social circle. Besides you can store cushions and pad the benches or you can opt out of using that specific table and store one that is more practical for you. There are so many different possibilities. Like the bed area; you don't have to have the same size bed up there. You can opt for a smaller one and use the extra space for some other idea.
@malibuugirl6627
@malibuugirl6627 8 жыл бұрын
Was wondering if other people were noticing that. The center area is not very functional. How many times are you going to need a table for 8? I'd rather have a comfortable seating area where I can use both the indoors and outdoor deck, a simple pop-up table for two (and maybe expandable if needed) and then a workspace area. The place seems more ideal for 2 people so why not adjust it for the needs of two instead of for a dinner party of 8 and an extra king-size bed?
@adammacer

A simplistic life where you still need a dishwasher? Gimme a break.. This is eye candy crap.. Standard tiny house nonsense where the kitchen and bath use standard house fittings/apliances and occupy the majority of the space - NOT good compact living design..

Also, how do you fit your legs under that table? It looks the same height as the benches, and the sides are square (because it's used for storage), so where do your legs go? Can you pull the benches back further? Very confused.

I was noticing that myself and started working with the design to see if myself and my fiance could get what we're looking for - a first level bed, since he's less mobile, and also a decently comfy living room with an office setup. We managed to do that by replacing the one bench and table drawer with a roll out queen size bed that could possibly have a table on top (a bit smaller than the one shown), and removing the loft to give some depth under the bathroom for a rolling sofa. Cushions could be stored within the box, and we were able to get an 'L' shape. The only trick is an office space, since he's massively into pc games and I need a space to do paperwork, all on the first floor.

+MsJokyo .........I have to agree. The right side window, not the garage door one could be cut down to solid wall space. Living in the Deep South too many windows means a hot house. The pull out table would be the bed. The benches stay for storage. The loft could mean storage space for us. Like the overall design although the marble and tile would go for a flatter lighter surface. The tub! Keeper. Great design just a few tweeks.

Very nice. I'm sure it would be great for the younger generation. For us older folks, most of us can't be climbing up ladders to crawl into bed. And it's no fun having to make the bed on your knees. : ) I really like how they have the glass doors on each side! I don't like that there is no chair and/or couch to sit on, but do like all the storage room. I'd probably use the big boxes for stuff I wouldn't need every day. I guess the big table could work for those who like to have a lot of guests. Too big for me. Any kind of loft I get would have to be built in such a way that I could stand up in it, or at least on one side of it.Love the large bathroom and the tub! Thanks for showing some great ideas.

I live in a 26' travel trailer and will have it remodeled a little at a time because I like the size and don't plan on ever living in a regular house after this. If this man came with the house, I would consider it but I have a few concerns with the design of a few things. There is no room for a cozy couch or seating because of the roll out table. There is no head room to sit in that bed. To access the storage under the table requires a lot of lifting (2 men big) - a tiny home is my retirement plan. What I really like are the drop down, hidden kitchen cabinets, the large windows for natural light (though it would be nice to have natural light throughout), the full size space for a bath, the drop down deck (again, is this easy enough for an old single person to manage?) and the secure cabinets.

Ditto; as i am disabled & most Everyone i have met has bad spine when they retire or travel & most could not use this fun young home. also not off grid at all with heater/cooler & oven & dishwasher & wash/dryer & lighting & more. if using power = then maybe hydraulic for porch & seating?

I agree, too much glass, interferes with space for cozy seating, the cozy seating could also be used for sleeping when company comes. I love sleeping on a sofa, do it all the time. Depends on where you live, there could be a canopy attached porch, space for outdoor eating.

It's design is more applicable to very hot regions, where conceivably you'd sit more outside on the deck even late into the evening. It's not suited to say cooler regions, even the rolling garage door has massive issues with insulation and air gaps. But, as a portable summer holiday place to entertain and sleep its ideal.

I was actually wondering if they thought you would get cushions for those hard looking benches and then when the benches are rolled in one is meant to stack the cushions on the floor. I was just looking at back-to-school displays on the store, so that is the first thing that popped in my head-kind of collegiate living style, so to speak! Wouldn't be too bad if there were a carpet over the hard wood floor-but I prefer some kind of sofa to floor/bench cushions.

I think that such a large table is not practical for every day life. You have to fold it every time you finish eating, because otherwise there would not be enough space for walking. Personally, I would prefer a smaller dining table that could be in its place all the time and I would still have enough space for walking etc. I do not think there are many people who would invite 8 people for dinner every day... If you live in a tiny house, there are maximally 2 of you... And if you do have a party for 8 people, how often can that be? Is it worth having such a large table?
@Sabijune
@Sabijune 8 жыл бұрын
I'm sure for daily use, one just pulls those benches out enough for what is needed, and likely uses a minimal fold up table for eating or quick web surfing. I think that huge flat table being stored away efficiently would be really great to have for times when working on a bigger project, but yes also to keep one from ever feeling limited socially. Both windows open on a gorgeous spring day with family or friends over, EVEN WHEN LIVING TINY, sounds like a perfect Sunday brunch. I'm always searching for designs that are clean, practical, efficient, but pretty, and this place is just too gorgeous to enjoy alone. I'm personally not one to have guests over, but I wouldn't mind putting that table to use when the occasion called for it. I was slightly disappointed that we didn't get to see what was the daily use option for meals or studying.

Unfortunately the house does not have it all. There is truly not one soft place to sit upright in the whole house (the bedroom loft doesn't count b/c you don't have full head height). Although there were some unique ideas with the garage door, built in deck, and nice kitchen, the dining table was too large and you really wouldn't have leg room because the benches were so large. The person who designed and built this was definitely concerned with the kitchen and bathroom, but the actual living spaces were lacking. I don't know of any adult that wants to come home from a long day of work or play and not have a comfortable sofa or chair to sit in, and one of the two should be able to be incorporated into the tiny home (you have the space). I'm not trying to bash the design though. The finishes were fabulous, but I personally would forego the Jacuzzi tub for a design that didn't require me to move the latter and gave me a sofa.

This is not an ordinary house. Its a mobile home, and it is awesome. If i had plenty of money to spend, i would love to have one of these, its one of the best tiny homes, i've seen, it is very comfortable the way its laid out and spacious.

I think it's probably a good investment since you save a lot of money in the long run and if these turn out a better profit, more innovative designs will be made.

👍🏾👍🏾 I love how open the house is. The big windows does a great job of opening up the house.
