I think the reason that TADC has the most views of any indie animated show is that it's not R rated (hazbin hotel & helluva boss). It's not scary (murder drones) and it's pretty long. And everybody on youtube is reacting to it so that helps.

For me, the main reason I was interested in this show was because Caine is voiced by Alex Rochon, aka the Autarch of Flame, one of the earliest countdown makers on KZfaq. So seeing him in something that turned out as big as this makes me happy for him. Also, my Pomni plushie arrived a couple weeks ago, and it’s great.

Gooseworks has an amazing back catalog that I'm kinda surprised more people aren't looking into. The number of references to their other works like Little Runmo ("You didn't experience a gameshow in there, did you?") makes me very happy.

One thing I find interesting is that many voice actors and animators work on many if these projects. The original VA for Angel Dust from the pilot voices characters in Lackadiasy and the ADC. His girlfriend Ashley was also an animator associated with Hazbin Hotel (she might also still do Helluva Boss, I don't know) and also does ADC, among other projects. I'd love to see you go into more indie animations that have been long-running like Murder Drones or Helluva Boss. As someone who has never seen ADC, though, this.was interesting to watch and I find it interesting that indie animations just get more and more popular as time goes on and more and more get introduced to the internet.

I’m honestly surprised he didn’t talk about object shows, because they’re technically indie animation shows too- now, some do have a team, but they were started by two kids. Most object shows start off with humble beginnings, they just grew a lot- so I’m basically requesting that FootOfAFerret makes a video on object shows ^^

Thank you for mentioning “Monkey Wrench” in the video! That show is so underrated it hurts. It deserves to have just as many views as the other shows you mentioned. Please people, go support “Monkey Wrench” how ever you can. It needs more eyes on it! The everything to the animation, the writing, the characters are amazing. And the creator (Zeurel) is super transparent about the whole process. He gives you step by step progress reports of each episode and is even willing to give numbers on how much it costs to produce each episode. Right down to the second. Zeurel and his crew deserve so much love

You can always tell how successful something is based on the amount of- *dramatic music sting, I stutter, glitch and fall to the floor* cre- *another dramatic music sting, I shutter, glitch some more and vomit* cr- creepy cartoons that were supposedly “made for kids” (in heavy air quotes), but contains- *I shutter again* a- adult content…

I think a good potion of why The Amazing Digital Circus is so popular is its approachability. It doesn't have any adult/R-rated content. Nothing about it even hints at that. A title like Murder Drones; well we're probably going to see blood and death, Hasbeen Hotel; oh there's a literal demon on the thumbnail, same for Hellova Boss, etc. But TADC, just a crazy ringleader and Jester flying through the air. Sure Cane is just eyes and teeth, but they're not spooky or bloodshot or distorted in any way. They look like one of those classic chattering teeth from old comedy sets. And Pomni looks like a wide-eyed kid. There's nothing in the title that would suggest that this show isn't suited for everybody. Then the show itself follows through; no swearing allowed, nobody can take their clothes off, the world seems to operate on cartoon logic, etc. The odd bits that are featured aren't anything a 10 year-old can't handle while still being intriguing. Definitely a 10/10 in the audience appeal department. And, from reading some of the other comments, I'm not the only one who think so.

I think I quite literally live and breathe under a rock as I only found out about this pilot today and then found this video. I think I mainly like the show mainly because the main character is actually cute as opposed to those other independent projects you mentioned.

This was a very cool video and I loved the fact that you made callouts to a lot of other indie animations If you’d like to watch a longer running show that’s still going on I heavily suggest watching Murder Drones It has a lot of funny moments (meta humor and forth wall breaks) but it also has a lot of scary elements It is a bit on the darker side but I would love to hear your thoughts on the show (especially because the fandom is slowly dying and I need someone to review it ;-;) Great video as always I love your humor and pacing thank you for making a video about indie animation ^-^

Since it got brought up, I’d like to take a second to shill- watch and support Monkey Wrench- I adore that show above all the others here and wish it got more recognition since it is insanely high quality. Not to say it’s better, obviously. Just that it appeals to me personally- my sense of humor, I enjoy the art and character designs, I’m not big on horror… but that’s a tangent. All these series deserve a level of success, regardless of my personal investment in them. And major congrats to The Amazing Digital Circus crew for how crazy successful their pilot was.

I just wanted to put this other indie animated show that I really like. It’s called Bridge kids and in short, everyone is a loser in this show but it’s one of the most relatable things I’ve ever seen

I wish more people who talk about stuff like this brought up the series glitch started with, Meta Runner. its what got me into indie animation in the first place. sure i watched smg4 himself but when he released the pilot i was HOOKED. and it has 3 seasons and is entirely finished as a series. then came sunset paradise, a small tie in to smg4's regular videos, but also its own little mini series with just one season and i think 8 episodes if im not mistaken. quirky animation and fun aesthetics really popped in both and now with murder drones its got an even better production team and a new and different style compared to the other 2. all 4 of glitches current shows (Meta Runner, Sunset Paradise, Murder Drones, Digital Circus), are all unique and are worth celebrating in indie animation. technically their studio is indie last i checked.
