I love that movies like this are made and bomb so hard the theaters quickly, and loudly, remove it from theaters as it gets terrible reviews across the board. People don't like this woke garbage. We hate it actually. Oh, and the fact that you can't say the title of the movie on KZfaq without censoring it is absolutely astonishing.

I think you guys missed the point when saying they didn’t write the characters racist enough. Today that side considers being on time racist. Microaggressions are enough for them to have melt downs. They’ve never experienced actual racism so they can’t write it.
@hardcutreviews
@hardcutreviews 3 ай бұрын
You are correct, but we definitely didn't miss the point. We were just pointing out that basically by their own logic, the characters actually are pretty normal and they have to really reach for those "microaggressions" so they can continue to claim victimhood. Side note- my phone didn't have an auto fill for the word "microaggression." Faith in humanity temporarily restored.

The problem with movies like this or Damsel is that they can add all the fantasy elements they want, but the message still has to have some basis in reality. Even if you tried to put this in a universe where white people really are dangerous animals, or Damsel in a mythical universe where all men just happen to be stupid and evil, it still doesn't change the perception of the message. None of that reflects reality as the vast majority of the audience sees it. Something like LOTR is based entirely on fantasy, yet its themes and messaging are down to earth: it's about companionship and trust, things the audience can relate to. Nobody can relate to the message that a timid programmer is going to suddenly join the klan if he doesn't get the office hot chick. These movies are totally out of touch with reality. And if this movie was made 20 years ago, the main character's journey wouldn't lead to him finally discovering he really is a victim and a racist. It would start him out as one, and eventually lead him to becoming friends with the white guy and learning that people are all just people. He'd make friends with the white guy instead of blowing up at him. He'd reject the Society not because of some selfish shit about wanting to get the girl but because he'd finally realize they were full of shit. And 20 years ago, people would have actually watched this movie.

This is the first time I am commenting on YT. I love your channel. I agree with everything you guys say and really appreciate you guys calling things out the way you do. It's a straight, to the point commentary and refreshingly and truly impartial and unprejudiced. This is what a review should be. If something is objectively bad - call it out. Reviews should not about protecting an image that people these days want to project for the sake of projection. I have watched all your videos and its so soothing to know that there are sensible real and honest people still existing in this nonsensical world. I wish you guys reviewed more movies, even if they are older movies, would love to listen to your honest reviews. There is a whole lot of Marvel movies out there. Would love to hear you guys actually talk about the destruction of star wars as a whole. On another note - being a woman myself, I really applaud you calling out fake feminism and fake body and "personality" positivity when warranted.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. We really appreciate it. We're just a couple regular guys who like to sit around and talk movies. If we could do it everyday we would. There are so many films and shows that we can't get to because we just don't have the time. Hopefully we'll hit that threshold one day where we can increase our output. In the meantime, we will persevere.

I find it interesting that his “love interest” is an ethnically ambiguous, white-passing woman that is way out of his league. That, in itself, is an overused trope now. Black men always seem to end up with white women and given how racist this movie is I’m surprised they went in that direction

I knew you guys wouldn't like it. I haven't yet known anyone in my KZfaq circle that thought it was good. This dumb film would have made more sense IF it had taken place during the Jim Crow era or something like that. I still wouldn't like it because of how obviously divisive it, but at least it would have been more realistic with the time.
