“Strange New Worlds”, now that is how you write a great show with a diverse cast. Thank you Star Trek!

8:58 There’s another reason the mother had to be the accomplice: she was the only available character. The film wasn’t exactly spoilt for choice for characters, yet even the few they had were ciphers. Most of them were just plot devices. I feel asleep in Part Two of this film. That’s how bad I found it.

Guys, I’m right there with you when it comes to the score-and this is a major issue with the movie to me. It rang hollow, generic, and mismatching at times. Mark Mancina scored such an uplifting, exciting, memorable theme that was composed in various ways depending on the scene of the movie, even blending with the sourced music a couple times. Enormous letdown when it comes to that aspect.

I disagree with how the film portrayed the townsfolk. They were depicted as idiots who, despite living in Oklahoma, their entire lives, have no idea what to do when a tornado is coming. I only lived in Oklahoma for the better part of six years, but after about the first week (or even less time, really) I would have never needed a bunch of techies and hippies from New York City and wherever else to tell me to take shelter. It is just sad, to me, when a movie relies heavily on taking place somewhere specific and then it becomes painfully obvious that no one involved with the entire production ever had even the faintest idea what that place is like because they didn't do any homework.
@hartfordhouse69977 сағат бұрын
Here's another thing: at one point in the film, they make a big deal about going into a basement; houses in Oklahoma don't have basements. I never figured out why, but (apart from some rare exceptions, maybe) they just don't. It's like the three fingers thing in Inglorious Basterds; if you know, you know. Except in the case of Twisters, all these little things just really took me out of and let me down about the picture.
@hardcutreviews2 сағат бұрын
That's a fair point and we share the sentiment about these people not knowing what to do when a tornado hits despite living in Oklahoma. But we were focused more on the depiction in the rodeo scene showcasing these people from a political point of view. The film shows a woman riding a horse dripping in patriotic attire and fireworks and the film does not paint these people as idiots because of that. Seperate from them not knowing how to hide from a storm, but we get what you're saying. Why no one in Oklahoma has a basement is an entirely different issue. They can dig out storm shelters but they can't dig out basements? Perhaps if everyone in the film had a basement and went to it when a storm came through it wouldn't be that exciting of a film. No storm shelters is far more entertaining than full storm shelters. Thanks for the comment.

Notice how she said the world of sci-fi and fantasy; not star wars.. as long as the story is good why the hell should it matter that they wanna add more actors of color and have more diversity?? Instead of shaming the show for this people should watch and judge for its writing (i dont think its very good at all) but atleast its something that actually matters to starwars

cool review guys. I think the technology do disrupt twisters thing makes Twist3r a little problematic plot wise, unless they go down a conspiracy avenue with the plot e.g. we had the tech to stop twisters but the government MIB'd it etc

I absolutely hate Rey but LOVE Daisey. One of the few instances where were able to discern thw character from the actor. Shes gone on record MULTIPLE times saying just hoe much she hated how her and her cast members characters were being handled in the story, instead of bashing fans like SOMMEEEE other actresses 👀👀👀. And like honestly, nobody gives a flying fuck if your show/movie is directed by a man OR a woman. If your writing, directing, respect of fans and overall attitude for the source material are shit, you are going to have upset and angry fans who REFUSE to watch it

Wizard of Oz (1939 film) is a musical. The film is based on a book, a book which was adapted into a Chicago and Broadway musical before it became a film. Also there is a pretty pair of shoes. All of these things are more effeminate and appeal more to effeminate individuals.

What in the world is she talking about? The first interracial kiss on American TV was on a sci-fi show. Sci-fi has ALWAYS been a safe space for people of color. I hate when other Black people try to speak for us all.

There was only supposed to be one black guy in the whole fucking galaxy in any given time. We don’t need women in leadership roles in military and para military organizations. We’ve already seen with United States and British military have become thanks to having people of color and women in leadership roles. They routinely get defeated by inferior enemies. It’s time to get back to the basics that white people simply white men are exactly what George Lucas wanted. It wasn’t by mistake. It was because that’s how the world really is and how it runs successfully..

They just don’t get it. It has nothing to do with lgbtq bla bla. People watch star wars, movies, shows to escape to get away from the world, the stress. Then you have these morons who put identity politics into it and no one wants to watch it and they wonder why. Then their emotional insecurity comes out and they blame everyone else your racist, your transphobic, etc. no it’s simply because the show sucks and it dosent take me to the place I want to be to simply escape the world and enjoy myself for a bit
