Dedra: "You're in my net Bix" Dr Gorst: "A special kind of 'pleading' ..." Brasso (as Marva): "Tell him I love him more than anything he could do ever do wrong" Kleya: "Plates spinning" Those are the ones I've "collected" ... there are loads more I feel like Syril .... "to know that there is beauty in Disney Star Wars and that it's something worth .. CLINGING to .." (yuck! :)) Can you blame me? @@jazzx251 Every line you mentioned is pure gold. Still, for personal reasons, "I share my dreams with ghosts" might be my favorite line of all time. Shit makes me reach for a shot of whiskey or rum just THINKING about it (and the way Skarsgard delivers it... It's like Luthen's realizing/admitting it to himself for the first time. Like his own monologue has gotten away from him and he's just pouring his heart out on autopilot. F*ckin' chef's kiss, man). "Calm, kindness, kinship.... love?... I yearn to be a savior against injustice, but when I look down there is no longer any ground beneath my feet." HOLY SHIT ARE YOU KIDDING ME! *CHILLS DOWN MY SPINE* "I love him more than anything he could ever do wrong" makes me tear up to this very day, too. WTF **IS** this show?! Star Wars meets Shakespeare.

I love how this story shows that the rebellion against the Empire wasn't about the heroes or big battles, but about countless unknown people who risked everything day after day to win whatever battle they could. It makes the entire universe feel a million times bigger. Yeah, Luke Skywalker blew up the Death Star, but it took the effort, courage and death of a vast number of people over what will be two seasons of "Andor," and the film, "Rogue One," in order to make that possible. I also really like how the story is unafraid to stand on the fact that a revolution can't be stopped once the rebels are willing to die for what they believe. Its always whichever side is willing to go farther, faster and with more commitment that wins...and as long as your side is afraid of jail, punishment, inconvenience, injury or even death, then you will lose. As soon as you get pushed past those limits, then suddenly victory becomes possible. Also, Nemik's manifesto is a work of art.

Legend says the Time Grappler spent the rest of the Galactic Civil War up in that belltower pounding away at his anvil and the Empire couldn't do a thing about it. Stormtrooper armor turned yellow at the thought of going up there and getting kicked off the tower. Walker artillery strikes and strafing runs from TIE fighters proved ineffective. nemik’s manifesto is seared into my brain, what a character. yoda says “do or do not, there is no try,” but nemik says sometimes trying is all we could do and it’s still worth doing. you said that you loved that the show is about the rebellion and i agree 100%! the reason why i love it so much is it focuses so much on the grim reality of imperial oppression, who’s affected and how a whole town rises up against it, even at the cost of their lives. rix road is one of my favorite scenes in all of star wars-it’s a more effective version of ep ix’s “there’s more of us,” showing the power of community and kinship and love for the people you’re with.

Great reaction. One of the few channels I love, because you don't feel the need to talk over the dialog. Authentic reactions become rare, the longer a channel is around. It comes down to a sad pattern. The Reactor(s) feel the need to fill out the time with very bad dad jokes. So when you see a new reactor or someone who doesn't give a sh*t, and you get a real reaction. Makes that channel that more special. Cant do patreon right now, but I can at least like and comment for the algorithm.

there was an analytical video (that is probably still my favourite) about that scene between Luthen and Saw that talks about how it is one of immense weight, pretty much declaring war quietly for the first time during the Empire era in a cold, dank room away from any spotlight. two men on borrowed time, terrified of the future, and Kreegyr is the first sacrifice that will probably soon be joined by both of them, that recontextualizes everything that follows. "Andor's Historic 11th Hour For Star Wars" by @Spaceman, i cannot recommend it enough.

The use of monologues in this show is just **chef's kiss**. Beautifully written! I'm torn between this and Mandalorian being my favorite "new" Star Wars content. Mando comes the closest to the experience I had as a kid seeing the OT. Andor took the thing that captured my imagination as a child and brilliantly reimagined it for my adult sensibilities. As someone who left Star Wars a very long time ago, I was cajoled into returning for Mandalorian. But then season 2 reminded me why I left, so I did. But then Andor ... somehow a friend convinced me with much persistence. I went in with the lowest of expectations and it blew me away in episode 1. With each episode my expectations rose, and each episode just kept surprising me and surpassing me. And I will die on the hill that this season is the best SW content. period. Across any medium. If S2 is even just almost as good, the show is Star Wars GOATed.

In Gilroy We Trust. Out of all the SW shows, the production of Season 2 has been smooth. The only drawback was the Writers Strike, but that only costed time, which they addressed and the show was fortunately delayed. No director change, no actors dropping out of the show. If it's just as good as this season, it's gonna solidify the show as one of the best of all time. But I am hoping it will top this season.

@Jimmy, I know it's not the same show or at equal levels but I will say that overall, season 1 of Andor was damn near perfect and reminded me of how felt by the end of season 1 of Spartacus, which I know you reacted to already way back. Not saying they're the same, but both had the great character arcs, brilliant speeches, amazing dialogue and that super satisfying season finales. My only hope is season 2 of Andor will be as good as the Spartacus followup prequel - Gods of the Arena.

Bix's character is not nearly in the same place as Evey right now, but somehow the combination of her surviving her torture and coming out of it witnessing a figure rouse the people to revolution, reminded me of _V for Vendetta._ Just fantastic speech from Marva, so goddamn satisfying to see the masses convincingly driven to rise up. Great, great review as well. I guess there's a special energy that comes from someone really loving something you love, which is why people watch reactions, and that is unmistakable here. But you also summed up all the elements well. I'm still curious about your feelings about Freshface McNazi - I don't think it could've ended any other way than some kind of (evil) redemption for him!
@jerodast

Freshface was too pathetic and on the wrong side = unlikeable to just be some tragic sacrifice to the imperial machine - what would we have really felt from that? No lightsabers, jedi, or an overreliance on nostalgia. Pretty clear the suits weren't actively tampering with this one. I think Tony Gilroy mentioned not really doing tv because of the lower budgets. They got lucky and the budget for Andor was set during a gold rush for tv. Talent + resources + creative freedom, you got some of the best Star Wars content ever. (I do have nostalgia for the original trilogy) Amazing casting and performances all the way down to all the minor characters. Can't wait for season 2.

The only scene that felt "off", in a weird way where it was both out of place for this show but also too Star-Wars-y, is the ship fight in this episode. It felt like Obi-Wan pulling some maneuver in his fighter in Episode II or something. Just didn't really seem to have a reason other than "Luthen is a badass" which we already knew. It's not a bad little Star Wars ship scene, just not really fitting.

People have definitely been retroactively lowering their opinions of Mando Seasons 1&2 because of the way Book of Boba Fett & S3 handled his story after leaving it in such a perfect place in the S2 finale. The mishandling of things down the line doesn’t change the fact that those first two seasons are incredible though. It just cheapens the universe and lowers my interest moving forward from there.
@jerodast
@jerodast 25 күн бұрын
Everyone is welcome to love and enjoy Mando, but I will say I was a little shaky on it throughout despite some really excellent highlights. It's a more episodic show. There are some filler episodes. It's a little hokey-er, which sort of fits the classic western theme but doesn't work for everyone. It was never as consistent as something like Andor IMO. I would absolutely recommend it to someone who likes Star Wars, but I never felt like "this is a masterpiece" like with Andor. Just "this is a great episode", which is still something to be proud of :)

I hope it was word-of-mouth ... that people were so amazed by the show that they told their friends, and eventually yourself To want to spend time with a Disney Star Wars show ... the show itself is a miracle, almost an act of beautiful defiance against Disney and the fat and arrogant executives that control it ... $250 million of "defiance"! I promised someone in the previous video comments a follow up on why I didn't love the prison arc, now that we see the remainder of the escape: Just feels weird that either a) despite everyone escaping in a huge swarm into the ocean, everyone split up on the way to shore, or b) only two people made it. Option a just feels illogical and weird. Option b sort of inherently defines the plot impact of that arc as "developing Cassian's character further" since nobody else survived it - which is okay, but he just didn't need it. I would've rather see him engage in a thing with consequences outside himself. Like Jimmy said it's like episode 11 just picks up after episode 3. At least the heist arc had impact that still lives on. Prison was good, rousing even, but ultimately disconnected.

Cassian himself is the thing that changes over the season. He goes from a reluctant participant to a man ready to give his life for the Rebellion, which is all the more poignant because we know that exactly what he does in Rogue One. We only see Cassian and Melshi on the beach after the prison escape because he's our only pov character.
