At the end of the day, despite whatever my own opinion is, I have a lot more respect for people who come up with their own opinions on an album and are willing to hear out other people's opinions, than people who defend their opinions at all costs without considering what other people have to say. Also, I've never understood the perspective that someone's age is what defines their knowledge or credibility. I do think it’s the best of the modern era but I respect your opinion. I would probably give it 3.5/5. I hate when older people say us younger people don’t know anything about metal. But yet they complain about this generation of kids not listening to it.

Iron Maiden is my favorite band of all time, but holy shit these fanboys take things way to far. Slayer and Dream Theater fanboys are even worse.

To be fair, the Ed Hunter compilation is what got me into Iron Maiden. It's great for when you wanna get into a band and don't know where to start, and gauge if the band appeals to your tastes. Having that be the *only* album you buy or listen to after claiming to like the band though is another thing; that could be considered "poser shit".

Damn dude, hope you're ok after this. I didn't even think your review was that bad. Sure in some parts your were a bit harsher than I might've been, but in the end I think 3/5 is an adequate score (even though as of now I'd give it an enthusiastic 3/5). I mean depending on how you rank the remaining albums, especially the newer ones, I think it's difficult to score much higher than that. As I said before, I think this is the weakest after the reunion, which means the maximum I could probably give Senjutsu would be a 3.5. I know other people disagree with me and that's ok, I'm glad you like the record :)

This is mainly aimed at the old dudes who think they can insult you cuz you are young. I’m 40. I met Maiden when I was 12 during Fear of the Dark tour, met Dickinson and Smith when I was 17 during his accident of birth solo album tour and hung out with him just he and I for 30 minutes and answered all my questions. All that and I STILL won’t let it make me make biased opinions on em! If you like the new album, good, cool, but don’t give anyone else crap cuz they dislike it’ll do not hold it up as high as you do. I find everything after brave new world boring. This new release is still boring. So everyone giving you crap need to realize that even a lifelong fan of Maiden can actually find their new material unappealing. I don’t blame their age at all. Helloween released their new album just a couple of months ago and in my honest opinion it’s amazing! And it’s better than the last two albums they released. Lifelong Helloween fan as well and can admit not all of their albums are the best. They too have been around for a long time. Keep making these videos, screw these fanboys, drink another for me.

That record was the most 3/5 of all 3/5s imho and I really can’t fathom being that passionate about it. But to each their own.

To the older guys saying that they love this album and that because they are older, their opinion is more valid than Robert's, I'm 46, grew up with Iron Maiden, and found this to be a lackluster album. Also, age doesn't determine the validity of a person's opinion.

Ok without falling into any categories here, just want to say I'm 33 I've been listening to iron maiden since I was like 10 and while I do consider them my favorite band in the overall sense, I am not an obsessive Stan. I will go to bat for all their music over most other artists but I understand that comparing their own albums to each other requires a lot of context. I liked Senjutsu a lot but I know damn well it's not going to stack up entirely to say Powerslave and that's fine, they released so much great shit I will be genuinely happy with whatever they put out and won't need to quantify it with anything else. At my age (shot 1) I have been around for the whole of Maidens discography and they are one of my favourite bands (shot 2?) so I will give Senjutsu several more listens (shot 3) and try to find out what the hell these dudes (slightly sexist shot 4?) are chatting about. One of them said you can't compare the 60years themselves to their '80s era. Well just go to a Uriah Heep concert and you will see that you can. I was a Maiden fan since the mid 90's but every time I saw Heep I felt that their shows were more memorable for me than Maiden. They simply can't get old and still performed on 100% , no matter if it was 2002 or 2022. 1. Some bands can keep the quality that made them great but unfortunately Maiden seems to care more about the live shows than the records lately. 2. Others realize when they get old and cannot sing in the same range so they change their singing style to handle the situation (which Bruce didn't really do). Even Blaze - the least-liked singer of Maiden - is aging better than Bruce (just listen to the last 2 Wolfsbane albums).

Dang I picked a bad day to quit drinking. I thought the new album was ok, better than I expected. I liked about half of the songs, most on disc 1, but hey prog Maiden is rarely for me. But I don't get people who are just so far on one side or the other, saying it's a perfect 10 or the worst thing ever. Thing is almost nothing in existence past present or future ever lives up to either extreme.

I actually will say while it has many views for a lot of people, I for one will say that it's a very overhyped album, as with Inifnite Granite being one of them for many because of it being different yet alone I do love a lot of the album for that. Senjutsu is very much not close as one of their best albums and despite the negatives I had with it I do like it though not one of my top ten of the year maybe. Man some overreacting fans are just judgemental and I am a fan of Maiden myself but I do accept and respect others who either like or not like the album. Also I do hate vodka... not a diss with your choice of drink so more power to you as I'd take cider or beer.

Furthermore I appreciated your discerning review. And I think we all know what Maiden are still capable of, that’s what’s a little frustrating. I really wish they would be less formulaic and go a little deeper with their songwriting. I think this album is a step in the right direction anyway. Up the Irons!!! 😂
