I'm 53 and I'm sick of people my age floating around the term "poser". That term was retired 30+ years ago when MTV and grunge shifted the focus from the thrash versus hair metal wars. These clowns are using that term while defending Metallica which is ironic and probably hypocritical considering these are the same people that screamed "sell out!" when Metallica made videos and then cut their hair. I know this because I was one of those people back then. Now I'm resigned that Metallica will never be as good as they were in the 80's and that's ok.

I am a Metallica fan at heart and I do really like a lot of 72 Seasons in my positive review, yet I respect your opinions on the album like what you said about each of their previous albums. I also got to appreciate and like a lot of the St. Anger record as it had some nostalgia before I became a fan as a teen and originally hated the album at first. Not all of their albums are perfect but there's isn't a perfect discography from any band. Sometimes it makes me think while I am a fan, I don't feel the respect with the predictable, boring not as open comments from all that negativity. Bands like these guys allow creative freedom for themselves and we should all be lucky to have them in our lives while they're still around.

I listened to the album 1/3 of the way. Then said i couldnt listen to it anymore. Then said, well ill give it a fair chance. I really did. I was as open to it as I could be. And an average score is what happens when you follow the same formula every album

The "Bon Jovi" comment was funny because there was a time that Bon Jovi was hated in the 80s and 90s. Of course the massive vitriol towards them disappeared but made me laugh to the see that comment (being honest BJ have some true bangers, i get the hate, but i fucking love "It's my life" of example). It's crazy the kind of reactions that Metallica produce, from both fans and haters. Personally i liked the record but i strongly agree with most of the mid ratings (you can still like an album and agree with the mixed/negative reviews). It's just an another album and that's it.

I personally don't like much of their stuff after the Black Album, but I'm also young(21) so I was raised in the post Metallica world. There's no reason to get as angry as these people over a middle road review, whether from hate or love.

I am a metallica fan at heart. But i cant defend 72 Seasons. it's just.....Okay? I hate albums like those because theyre the ones you cant say much about at all. Theyre just kinda bland at worst and just decent at best. From me, 72 Seasons gets a 5/10 (A 2.5 by Metal Meltdown standards i think) at best. Just average. Not doing enough to say theyre pushing bounds but doing enough to say "eh itll pass". I think Metallica is just doing this to stay relevant at this point and shunning away producers who will properly criticize them and make them push out of their comfort zone musically speaking

Metallica is probably my #1 or #2 favorite metal band of all time. their 80s output is the best thrash that will ever be created, their 90s output showed growth, evolution, and change. hell, I'll even admit St. Anger had riffs. but I can admit that they fell off so hard. it's hilarious seeing all these people call you a poser when Boomertallica fans just listen to bands from the 80s and 90s. they don't know anything about death metal, black metal, grindcore, powerviolence, or anything like that when you're one of the most informed metaltubers out there.

I remember listening to the first single (Lux Aeterna? whatever it was called) and thinking "Yeah, this sounds okay. I like more metallica albums than dislike. Hell, I quite like load and a couple of songs on St anger, and the new album was OK. But at the end of the day, I STILL take the piss out of this band because they kind of deserve it.

Suck every video making once out of this album as you can. I was Metallicas biggest fan from the demo to Justice, then I've hated them ever since. Moved on too much heavier and better music, same with all the big 4, still like the big 4 of Germany. Metallica forgot how to write songs and Bob Rock ruined them and James vocals, and we won't even talk about Lars or Wah Wah Kirk.
