It’s definitely weird. I’m a Conservative Christian and my wife and I are stationed in Japan. One thing we keep hearing at church from people who live here is there is absolutely no shaming of kinks or fetishes. It’s a shock for a lot of people, but a lot of Japanese men are very quiet yet obsessively pursue all their perverse desires. In Japan it’s not looked at as “evil” but more so “funny” or “annoying” I think a lot of the difference between western and eastern societies views on sexuality come from my religion specifically. Christianity treats sin as starting in the heart, and is repulsed by abuse of the weak/breaking Gods moral code to satisfy your lusts. Japan on the other hand is almost entirely atheist. Any who are religious are primarily so out of folk/kin tradition and not necessarily actual belief. There’s not the same uniformly imposed and universal moral standard that they must abide by, more so it’s a culture of keep to yourself and don’t make trouble. To some degree it is entertaining when i see feminists and atheists opposing the pervesion of Japan using the appeal to universal morality while at the same time stating that morality is only a concept and there is bo “good” and “bad” per se. i hope tall can understand my argument, but what i’m trying to say is have a standard before you criticize theirs. I have a standard and objective morality which i receive from God with which to condemn these creeps. I would encourage everyone to do the same.
