Violet Evergarden is such a beautiful story it had me in tears more than any other anime.

Violet Evergarden was an amazing and beautiful show with a fantastic story!

I actually dropped this the first time I watched this through because I thought it was boring but I picked it up some time later and realized how good it was. The different variations of love was truly eye opening. Anyways love the vid bro ❤️

I used this show to grieve with my mother about the loss of my grandmother (and thus, her mother). Thanks for covering this one! And edit: The most awesome thing about this show? How natural everything feels, including the progression. In Episode 7, she learns to grieve, in episode 8, she learns about what truly happened to her, in episode 9 she... Well, yeah. And in Episode 10 she finds out what it means if people leave someone behind. In episode 11, she finds out the other side; how it feels when you can't save someone. And I use the script (how every word is written, the font, more like) for my journal, it's pretty fun to use/write with.

This is the most concise and cutting analysis of what Violet Evergarden is and represents. I love how the show reveals the complexity of the different ways people love, and without focusing on one type more than another. It would have been easy to spend half the series on lovey-dovey couples, and it would have greatly impacted the quality. Instead, we got a masterpiece.

This anime permanently changed my life in like 3 different ways. Ways that are barely even relevant to the topic of this great video. That’s just how much excellence is packed into this show

I love this series so much that I showed my mom and she fell in love with it.

This series was my first 10 out of 10 in terms of Slice of Life, out of two. Each episode is a new journey of emotions striving to understand the one singular emotion "Love" which has numerous meanings and understanding to which no single person can put a definitive label on. It's to each their own, and it's for the person to decide and come to the conclusion. Though that doesn't stop us from trying to understand it from another person's perspective, thus the letters. Episode 10 to me was my favorite, and was handled with sheer perfection. Even prepped for the merciless yanking of my heartstrings, I felt ever corresponding emotion to be had. Not from just Violet, but from those around her. It didn't stop with just her emotions, I felt everyone's that episode. To make the inclination worse, this is a very relatable event that could if it hasn't occurred in a real life instance or derived from a real world event. Like the title's name for the episode, it executes a very endearing, warm, heartfelt thought that envelopes you into openly believing the statement or at the very least considering the thought. For me personally, it brought back a few speeches from another Anime series, Yu Yu Hakusho, that has forever stuck with me. Genkai's speech to Yusuke telling him "Concentrate on what's important and commit to it all the way." When I saw just how devoted Anne's mother was to finishing those letters, this opened the flood gate, bringing back the speech. From there it even brought out Genkai's speech of telling Yusuke "Everyone has to fight with time to find their place before their inevitable death. Every decision that you make will affect the countless people who care about you". These speeches I've forever carried with me, and to be able to bridge a connection with them to something made not only the episode in its entirety more special and meaningful, but Yu Yu Hakusho as well to me. It's when instances such as this make me delighted to be an Anime Lover :D Now to actually discuss the episode and my overall thoughts. Right out of the gate, you know or get a very strongly and directed outlook as to where the story will lead and eventually end up. As one would expect, the story is perceived by Anne. From her perspective, her entire world revolves around her mother. Being so young, she isn't fully able to comprehend everything and struggles with the hardships that brings about. I myself particularly liked the doll she was playing with and speaking to. To me, this portrayed a coping mechanism to further deal with her hardships and overall worries about her mother's health and what the future might bring. You feel such empathy for Anne and just want to sit her down, hug her, and tell her that this isn't her fault. However, on the contrary, you can't go about telling her it'll be alright either. All you can do is feel empathetic towards her and long to console her to any degree that's humanly possible. After several days pass, things finally reach the boiling point. Anne acknowledges the harsh reality that her mother is likely dying or is and won't be around much longer. From Anne's perspective and how things have changed since Violet's arrival, it finally adds up to make sense. Such as why won't mother get better, why is she having these letters written, and why won't she pay attention to me the way she used to? All these looming questions just layer themselves atop one another till the weight breaks Anne down, which leads to her eventual outburst. This was in my own regards was the episode's quin sequential highlight. You had to embrace both Anne's mother and Anne's feelings as a unified whole. This moment encapsulated the fact we're spectators, the same as, Violet. We're seeing things through her eyes, yet we ultimately may not experience the same degree of emotions or the same emotions. And finally you have the ending. To see how much Violet has changed from accepting not only her feelings but other's just showcases how much she's grown. And let's not forget, there is somewhat of a happy ending, so it isn't all doom and gloom. Easily this episode is my favorite as it does such a phenomenal job of portraying the characters, the interactions, and connections that are either straightforward or more undertone of emotions or own life experiences from the characters.

Violet is my favorite anime so far

I love this show and it holds a very special place for me. It was the first time that I felt so much while watching a show and the first time I cried while watching, listening or reading a fictional story (out of sadness, joy and desperation). It's a bit hard to put into words what makes this show so touching and beautiful, but I'll try anyway: Violet's journey of exploring so vastly different kinds of love and the very natural depiction of her emotional growth that can help you learn a thing or two about the complex and sometimes contradicting feelings inside a human beeing as well. Plus, at least for me, there were a few episodes that just felt so real/close to my personal experiences. You really did this show justice. As always, a very thorough analysis. Thank you :)

Few episodes didn't work for me( salvaged by the god tier art and animation) but when this show works it really forces you face what somethings mean in your life. Last kyoani show I saw (k-on) did the same thing with it's slow emotional burn. I can't find the right words to express what stuff you can feel If you allow yourself to take this show in.

This video explains the anime so well, I just finished watching it and I am just happy how the end turned out and with the end I mean the movie.

I am in my early 50s and a few weeks ago started watching all of the DC animated universe movies. I noticed on HBOmax, Hulu, Netflix and Prime that they had a pretty good selection of anime and I had a question for you and your community where I should start in the anime genre? Tbh the last movie really ruined this show for me i just like to think it doesn’t exist all this time learning her own emotions and moving on from pain and she runs off to be with the major this show was special to me and to see the decline starting from the first movie to the last is disappointing

Give us the actual anime, not some dub

I to this day maintain strong distain for Violet Evergarden. It is one of the anime that has disappointed me the most. I do not like the characters and I found the story very predictable and formulaic. The message of the series didn't connect with me. Maybe its because I expected a different story of rehabilitation of Violet to be a functional member of society after being a child soldier all her life. Instead to me I got a fairly generic story which was very desperate to make me care.
