I have known many Jews in my life. I lived in a part of Melbourne Australia which had a large Jewish community and went to school with them. They were friends. I loved living in that culture. I have also been a musician and played music with them. Some were the best musicians in town. I loved the intellectual conversation and the self deprecating humour. Zionism is a blight on the Jewish people.

As a Syrian Nationalist and anti-Zionist I agree with Zach Foster's opinions. However, I am also disappointed at the inaccuracies and lack of indepth knowledge of historical topics he claims to be an expert on. His amateurish interviews on youtube do a disservice to topics that are not only historically significant but also relevant to contemporary geopolitics of the region. The Jews of Iraq in the second half of the 1940's numbered 160,000 (give or take 5,000). Their greatest concentration was indeed in Baghdad but they certainly did not constitute 40% of Baghdad's population. Baghdad in the mid 1940's was the second largest metropolis in the Arab world. It had a population of 600,000 (give or take 30,000). Almost 10% (50,000 - 55,000 people) of Baghdad's population was Jewish. The second largest concentration of Iraqi Jews lived in the north of Iraq (Around 50,000 people). More than half of them spoke Kurdish or a mix of Syriac and Hebrew. A large minority (especially those who lived in Mosul and Erbil) spoke Arabic. The third concentration was in Basra where around 10% of the community lived. Small Jewish communities were also found in towns in the Sunni dominated Central zone in Iraq. Contrary to Zach's claims by the late 1940's and early 1950's the vast majority of Iraqi Jews wanted to leave Iraq. Already during the period of WW II dozens of Jewish families from Basra sold their properties and moved to Kuwait, Bahrain and the UK. There was an anti-colonial sentiment in Iraq which was already very strong in the late 1930's. Jews were associated with the British because they were more educated and affluent and because many of them were employed by the British authorities. The demise of the Jewish community in Iraq is a tragedy that Zionism also played a large (albeit not exclusive) role in. An historian should be better informed and more impartial.

Don't forget Shabatai Tzvi and Jacob Frank... who convinced hundreds of thousands of jews that the way to bring about the 'Moshiach' and jewish salvation was to turn the lore on it's head and commit any kind of sin. Wife swapping became 'A Thing'. The 'Rebe' Schneerson leader of Chabad Lubavitch from '51-'94 was a 'Messianic' jew who had a profound influence on Netanyahu.

To "commit any kind of sin" was semi-true for the Frankists not the Sabatteans. The former also were mainly obsessed with sexual sin and visual displays of sacrilege as they converted (outwardly) to Catholicism which is classified as pagan idolatry whereas the Sabbateans converted to Islam (a non-pagan religion as per Jewish law) and prayed in mosques which is permitted and even encouraged in areas that lack a synagogue as well as areas where a synagogue is present but a minyan is not found.

Zionism makes as much sense as believing i have a deep spiritual connection to Southern and Central Africa, because my ancestors came from there. My ancestors also came from Scotland, Wales, Norway, Central Asia and other places too. So I need to develop a mythology that gives me some provenance in my story and the fables of the Talmud and Bible are not quite up to it. Still it doesn't matter if I insert a few lies into these books I can establish enough lies to give the right to murder anyone who denies me the right to these lands. Religion, all of it, is just mythology at best and vile lies at worst. When will we adapt to our mortality and share the earth freely for our short lives in peace and love?

What we need is for the mainstream media to stop pretending we don’t exist. So many Jewish groups are protesting Israel’s genocide of the Palestinians but the media never ever acknowledges this fact. They can’t because doing that would hands down destroy their deplorable appalling support for Israel, so they keep pretending we don’t exist. That would be like getting more anti-christ voices from Christian communities. I don't think we need that. Israel is defining for everyone what it means to be a Jew. They are demonstrating the collective Jewish spirit, their behavior is based on and justified by their religion. I think the anti-genocide Jews need to break off and have their own Martin Luther historical moment. Religions are not handed down by Gods. They grow organically as a part of human evolution. They are constantly growing and changing.

I speculate that Zach Foster's erroneous claim that Baghdad was 40% Jewish is because he read the entry on the Ottoman Census of 1917 in Wikipedia. The entry has a major error that anyone with basic common sense would easily detect. The Jews are stated to be 88,000. This is of course false as in the census of 1906 - 1907 the number of Jews on the entire Baghdad sanjak (province) was 13,621. It is probably a typo on behalf of Wikipedia and the number of Jews in 1917 was 18,000. This would also correspond to their number of 50,000 - 55,000 some 30 years later as there was a movement from remote towns (especially in Iraqi Kurdistan) to the capital as a result of infighting between Kurdish warlords as well as a distruption of peace between Kurds and Assyrians.

@@PalOStein The Ottoman Empire was at peace with the Jews and many Ottoman Jews held administrative roles including major ministries (i.e ministry of finance). Jews and Christians paid a tax that Muslims did not pay (a tax for not serving in the military modelled on the Jizya tax for the "people of the book"). The Ottomans had no vested interest in understating the number of Jews and Christians. Negligent bureaucrats were severely punished which is why to this day Ottoman Census figures are considered historically accurate.

Great interview! I have suspected for 30+ years that brother Yehudah is not in the Promised Land today. I'm sure there are pockets of Jews in Palestine, but as a whole, that isn't Judah. Israel's exile was an established fact in 721 BC., with the fall of Samaria. The descendants of the Northern Kingdom haven't been back, since the fall. I would appriciate it if people would stop calling it "Israel". It's Palestine, or at best, the Southern Kingdom of Judah maybe, but it's not Israel. Yes, I realize there were small pockets of Israelites still around in the days of YosYah/aka Josiah, but those were pockets of the Northern Kingdom that had avoided the Assyrian gathering, and deportation system. As a whole, the "Northern Kingdom" is still in exile, as is the "Southern Kingdom".

Here's the thing, you can't be a Jew if you're not religious, if you are Secular, then you're only Polish, German, Russian, or Ukrainian. Sure you have some of the culture attached to you, just like a secular Christian that was raised with all the holidays and customs. But a religious Jew believes that their God is the true God and that they are one of God's chosen people, and that one day the Messiah will come and they goy will basically exist just to serve them.. that is a problem in 2024 in itself. But they are patiently waiting. Zionist Jews come in two flavors, Secular, and ultra-Orthodox, ultra-religious, but they are tired of waiting for the Massiah and want to speed things up themselves. "Manifest" it. The problem is that the Ashkenazi Zionists somehow have made being a Jew both a Religion and a Nationality.

Not true. The accepted definition of being a Jew is both having a Jewish mother or a convert to Judaism.

@@NotInMYName_AntiZionistJew Okay, so when is a Jew, not a Jew? What if he has a Jewish mother, but converts to Christianity? Is he still a Jew? Now I'm assuming if he has a Jewish mother, and he walks away from all regions, he'd still be considered a Jew, by his family, his family's Synagogue, and by Israel. And then I convert to Judaism. I'll be a Jew. But only in faith, not lineage. See what I mean? I would still retain my original nationality.

@@YanniEhm I’m saying that the accepted definition according to the Torah is both of these things. You should probably listen to Rabbi Yaakov Shapiro about this, since he explains this far better than I ever could but to answer your question, my mother was a Jew, so if I were to officially convert to another religion, I would sill be a Jew according to the Torah but if say a Christian or Muslim for example, converted to Judaism and then changed their mind and converted to some other religion, then they would no longer be considered a Jew. Iow, I cannot ever not be Jewish but a convert to Judaism has that option.

So, they're going to sacrifice a red heifer, and then some David Koresh type of person (alternatively a Hong Xiuquan) is going to gain a large following as a 'returned messiah' and it's going to get even more batsh** cra*y than it is now?

My understanding is that Israel was a Ashkenazi project as Mizrahi Jews suffered racism leading to the creation of the Black Panthers and so on. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The black panther movement was a leftist movement by mostly North African Jews from impoverished slums on the outskirts of economically thriving and majority Ashkenazi Israeli coastal cities. Its leaders were inspired by revolutionary (broadly Maoist) ideology though its adherents had little to no idea about the intricate details of Communist liberation movements. There were well established & active non-zionist (but not anti-zionist per say) Communist parties in Haifa and Tel Aviv but the black panthers felt these parties were not sympathetic to their plight as the Jewish component had a European cultural bias and the Palestinian Component a highly localised view of Arabism/Orientalism that effectively left them out.

This guy makes the bizarre claim that "40% of Baghdad was Jewish in the 1940's" 😂. This is nonsense. According to official CIA document, at the highest point the number of Jews in IRAQ in 1947 was 150 000 Jews (that's less than 3% of the ~5 million population), the population of Baghdad was 364 000, if you divide 150÷364 you get the magic number of 40%, so, this guy is trying to tell us that every single jew in Iraq lived in Baghdad 😮 😂. Also, according to the biased HOL /cause encyclopedia in 1940, 90 000 out of the 135 000 Iraqi jews lived in Baghdad, so if we extrapolate this (possibly exaggerated figure) to 1947 we get approximately 100 000 out of the 150 000 Iraqi Jews lived in Baghdad. So, AT MOST, 100 000 jews out of a population in Baghdad of 364 000 is 27%🤗. I feel this guy is trying to claim Baghdad 😂, please delete and correct his error in your video.

Some of my many successes were getting the BDS protestors to become the BDS movement in 2005 and getting the Occupy Wall Street demonstrations going among others. It is a great story and it is non-fiction. I really did it.
