One of my favorite things is the art of writing subtext: Say one thing, mean another. This is because, as people, everything we do is more complicated than it seems. As a result, subtext adds depth and intrigue to what characters have to say. Not everything that comes out of their mouths is exactly what they truly feel or think. There's more than meets the eye, and it's up to us writers to create this subtext and keep readers intrigued.
