🔴 WATCH NEXT - Top 10 SEIKO 5 Watches - The BEST Watches for Under $200 👉 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jcmXp9h5q9eYj5c.html Here are more info for beginners: ** Typical power reserve ** Most modern automatic watches will provide at least 38 hours of power reserve when fully wound. You can take off your watch on Saturday night and it should be still running on Monday morning. If you need more than this typical entry-level power reserve without breaking the bank to much, go for a Powermatic 80 movement (80 hours of power reserve) that you can find at Hamilton (with their H line of movement), Tissot or Certina. ** Your watch is slow or fast ** If your automatic watch is slow or fast (up to 30 seconds per day), this is perfectly normal. Mechanical movement are not as precise as quartz ones. If you can't live with the lack of accuracy, you should take it to your local watch maker and ask him to regulate it for you. It might become as precise as -/+ 5 seconds a day if you're lucky. More luxurious pieces have better movement that are regulated to more positions, and can achieve better accuracy out of the box. Enjoy your first automatic watch!

I agree 100% about the enjoyment of winding, setting time - it’s why I bought automatic. It allows you to interact occasionally, but doesn’t take too much time like a basic mechanical watch. It’s best of both worlds - you can play with it and not be a slave to it 👍

Quartz watches can also be adjusted, and interacting with those hands on a quartz watch is pretty much the same experience as doing it with a mechanical watch.

@@rangersmith4652 but you only need to setting the time once . Not everyday . Because it powered by battery . As long as the battery good you dont need to setting the time 🥲 unlike the automatic watch .

I have found great information on KZfaq, seen overhauls and even jewel replacements - and am indeed interested in and grateful for all of the above. But this is the first channel I've seen yet with so many basic questions answered. And best of all, no evidence of parroted "information" that even I (just starting with mechanicals) know from limited experience and my own observations to be false. Definitely worth a subscription. I like your videos. Just to add, in case a viewer buys or inherits an old watch (say, from the 60's) that is a manual wind. When the watch is fully wound, there will be resistance, in which case you should stop winding, or risk damaging the watch.

I managed to “over-wind” a modern 2008 “automatic” dive watch I owned that used a Sellita SW200 movement. I too was under the impression that I could not not damage the watch thru over-winding via the crown, but I did. I wanted to maximize the amount of power stored in the spring and as I wound the watch, using the crown at the 3 O’clock position, I felt the crown get harder to wind when, all of a sudden, tiny gear teeth stripped off of something inside the movement. I saw the catastrophic result thru the display caseback, there were tiny bits of metal all over the inside. I had to send the watch in for repair.

This video couldn’t come at a better time for me. I have a couple of automatic watches in my collection but they are not hand winding. That said I bought a citizen ny0080 promaster diver which I should get in the mail any day now and its an automatic with hand wind ability. I’m so excited for it to come. For me it’s kinda a big purchase. Thank for the info.

Thank you for the detailed explanation of an automatic watch. I received 2 days ago my first automatic watch, a Seiko SRPE53 “Blue” Sports. Will be getting it sized today by a watch jeweler. I am looking forward to wearing it. But after watching and learning from your video, I will enjoy it even more.

I feel exactly the same...the Romantic when i know that my automatic watch is assembled from 250 or more working very precise parts. BTW i never know before that the Quartz Watches running more accurate than the automatic watches. I was a quite surprised but i still think that the Mechanical Watch are something special and unique....

This is my first time using a mechanical watch, and I don't even know what to ask bc that's just how little I know. Thank you for this easy-to-understand explanation.
