The reason it's so difficult for some people to watch is because, its a very good depiction of real combat, its hectic, theirs no action movie shit in it, theirs no artificial blur to try hide stuff and make it more fast looking. Just like shooting being stylised in films, the closer to real violence things seem the more off disconcerting.

Jambott exactly, I used deadpool as an example of too much because it bugged the shit out of me, it was bad watching it, but I saw a trailer after I'd seen it and realized I'd forgotten whole sequences because of the blur. Kingsman tho, I couldnt wait to see that fight again, it was like getting Slayer songs stuck in your head.

I liked at the end, after he stabs the axe guy with a pointy stick, when he does a quick shift of his shoulders before he calmly surveys the damage.

I've no idea how I missed it at thr time but I only just saw the movie last month. The church scene was fantastic but now I feel a bit cheated. Sure the 7 mins would have been pretty messed up but at least it could have been a blu ray special feature... oh with audio commentary where everyone gets more and more uncomfortable with the sheer amount of violence. I hope I wasn't the only one that went looking for bottle cutting fiend.

If you want sword fight reviews by someone who actually knows about sword fighting, you might want to check out Matt Easton's channel, Schola Gladiatoria. Matt runs a business dealing in antique arms and runs HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) schools and the biggest HEMA event (at least) in the UK called Fight Camp. If any of you is interested in European weapons, especially swords, you might want to check out his channel. If you are interested in HEMA there surely is a club near you. If you're based in Germany I might even be able to help you find one. Cheers!

If you want a decent gunfu movie check out Way of the Gun. Came out in 2000 and It doesn't take it's self seriously, anyway except the gun fighting. It also stars two main characters(Ryan Phillippe and Benicio del Toro) so they are able to work off each other as battle buddies one with pump gun other with handgun, covering each other on reloads, and moving from cover or concealment. Then in the final set of shootouts they sue a .308 FAL(if i remember correctly) to show how if you were a crazy tactical badass you could just shoot through the walls of a house/apartment/hotel if you know where the target is in concealment vs cover. You can shoot through concealment, but not cover. at least not with small arms. Good movie, and defiently worth a watch if you the john wick movies or other gun fu.

Yeah Equilibrium is a pretty decent watch. Somewhat underrated I find not many people have seen it like way of the gun. Though I'm a gun guy and I've got OCD or something that my brain screams at me, he's out of ammo does not compute. So I really enjoy when Film makers pay attention to firearms and even more tactics. Though I do still enjoy an over the top shoot fest like Equilibrium or more john woo inspired movies. Some other movies I'd recommend for people who enjoy gritty gun fights, though I wouldn't exactly class them as gun fu would be The Wild Bunch(1969) kinda like Red Dead Redemption the movie in a lot of ways. Sam Peckinpah always did pay attention to violence in all his movies though some are hit or miss. Heat (1994) is a classic, and actually used the real capture gun fire for the bank shootout and by result has some of the most realistic urban gun battle sounds put to film because of the acoustics of the plaza. Each actor was also run through weapons familiarity training similar by LE and military similar to Way of the Gun and John wick. Sicario (2015) is a cool neo western that builds its tension building up to violent release that is actually quite tame when you actually look at what happens down in cartel land. Then Finally Ill suggest Hostiles (2017) Another Christian Bale film and actually a surprise favorite of mine for 2017. Follows a diverse group of people through the west in some similar story beats to the wild bunch, except instead of showing there being no "good guys" in the west it actually tries to make you see through the lens of back then and sympathize with people who the majority of would not be considered at all good people by today's standards. Mixes beautiful scenic views that anyone who's been through the area will be familiar with, with an unflinching look at violence that I hope nobody reading this ever has to endure first hand. Lol If you've read all that and have any suggestions I'd be glad to hear them.

The scene in the church is one of the best in movie history. OK sure it's not a "cultural" moment. But that constant ongoing fight which keeps going and going and going while the music plays .. it is incredible.

Oddly enough the one scene in Kingsman that really bothers me is the gun-stabbing. Not because he stabs somebody with a handgun frame mind you, but because I own a Tokarev (The handgun used by him in the film) and I know exactly what is involved in field stripping it.

That was the BEST scene!! As an American I loved the original Kingsmen. I couldn't really get excited for the Statesmen though. Cowboy hats is really a Mexican-Texas-Southwest thing. The US has like five or six distinct "white cultures", like three black cultures, and two Asian and Hispanic cultures each. So I guess it would be hard to pin down American themes --- though personally I would have gone for a forefathers-patriots theme. OR a Men in Black theme, that'd be dope.

Bunny Trail... John Wick is one of the only movies or TV shows that actually doesn't have "movie clip" issues. You can almost always count the number of shots in the clip before he reloads, unlike most movies where they shoot forever and only reload during a dramatic moment, if ever. Also, Kingsman and John Wick are both amazing.
