For being an alternative looking chick you don’t know shit! B-52’s is one of the most dynamic, unique bands you will ever see or hear. If you want to be a stupid millennial about it...you could say it was proto punk. Ask bands like Black Flag, The Cramps, The Descendents, NOFX, etc. But I guess you’d have to be “schooled” correctly. I’m not a boomer, I’m a generation X’er and proud of it! Sad for all of you who don’t know the hidden gems out there.

FUN FACT: The band's name is a reference to the nonsensical beehive hairdos worn by some of dancers which bare a passing resemblance of the front of old B-52 bombers.

Every song on “Cosmic Thing” was great, but this one was the most fun. “Cosmic Thing” was my first brush with the band, but they have great earlier stuff too. I recommend you review “Rock Lobster” (long version), “Private Idaho,” “Devil in My Car,” and their cover of “Downtown.”

Roam, Private Idaho, Rock Lobster, Deadbeat Club and Planet Claire are all songs worth checking out, this is a band unlike any other. Love Shack is their biggest hit, closely followed by Rock Lobster but they have quite a few great songs, so i'd say.. check them out :D Thnx for the react Leo :)

Awww, y’all. Mr. Video has succumbed to the wonderful power of the B-52’s! I love how his energy lifted as the song began and was in full tilt by the time the B-52’s hit the 1st chorus.The B-52’s started as a fun and groovy underground group (they were first big in the college scene) and when “Love Shack” became their first big hit, they CONTINUED to make more fun and groovy music. They are one of the few artists who did not evolve or change their music to appease the masses, yet remained true to their art and continued to make great music. You can still catch them every once in a while playing live at state fairs. And they are still as fun as ever. Other song suggestions are good. I’m throwing my hat in for “Roam.” It is my favorite song of theirs.

I've even heard Love Shack played over store speakers!! But this was the perfect song for you to react to. The redhead does a song with R.E.M. called Shiny Happy People!! It's a great song, so maybe check that out next.

I was in the 11th grade when this came out, and had (still have, 30 years or so later) a best friend named Duane. When they say “bang bang on the door baby” we thought they were saying “Duane Duane at the door baby”! LOL! Bringing back awesome memories! 💕💕💕

Finally! I’m telling Mr. V, I’ll never steer you wrong 😂 True story, I worked in tobacco as a teenager (NC people can I get a amen) and there was a small very old house in the middle of the field. The guy I worked for called it “the love shack” and said various people in the small town used it as a place to do the nasty with folks that they not supposed to be doing the nasty with. 😲

One of the greatest things you can do in life is to make people laugh and feel good. Mr. Video and the B-52's, make me laugh and feel good! I was in the Navy when this song came out. I searched but never found the real "Love Shack" .

back in the 70's -'Love Shacks' were sort of a thing in many places- they were really kind of a bar/party house/dance club and usually way off the road- the one I remember was an old cabin in the woods- we danced, drank and indulged in some illegal substances- we could paint on the walls-play music as loud as we wanted to and be rowdy-if folks wanted to be frisky in their vehicles nobody bothered them-you would have loved to hang with us back in the day

That was exactly how I told my husband we were pregnant. I left a note in his lunchbox "Tin Roof Rusted". I sat back and waited for him to call. 12:32pm the phone rang and I could actually hear the smile on his voice. Baby girl 7 mos. later.

The Love Shack is a real place. It is now a hotel run by Kate Pierson, the redhead singer here. It's called Lazy Meadow in NY State. Also check out her solo song Throw down the roses!

The shorter woman (the one with red hair) sang on the R.E.M. song Shiny Happy People which is a party banger, and she also sang on the Iggy Pop song called Candy which is probably his biggest commercial hit (although he had many much better songs.) Fun stuff!

My husband's favorite song from B52's is "Roam." The harmonizing of the ladies' voices are so perfect together. I like it too, but Love Shack is my top favorite. :-)

The name B-52's, comes from the "beehive" hairdos the female singers wore during the group's first decade together. The hairdo style gets it's name from the nose cone design on a Boeing bomber aircraft produced from 1952 to 1962, the B-52 Bomber.
