Prince originally wrote this song for his girl group Apollonia 6 but after listening to A6 recording it he wasn't satisfied with the lead singer's vocals so he offered it to The Bangles which thankfully it made it onto the charts.

The songwriter on Manic Monday was listed as Christopher on the single, one of Prince's nom de plumes. Ironically, Manic Monday peaked at No. 2 on the Hot 100 behind Prince's Kiss.

Hi Connie My Name is Yacine Also If you listen carefully to J Giles Band Centerfold it has the bangles mixture because that Na Na part came from Mesmerized and the Whistling came from Walk Like An Egyptian is the same as J Giles Band Centerfold song

I’ve heard this song a million times, and I never noticed before how reminiscent the bridge is of The Shangri-Las, one of my favorite 60s girl groups! Btw, about “Hazy Shade of Winter” - please please do the original first!! It’s by Simon & Garfunkel. 🙏

Back in the mid-80's, the Bangles were one of those bands that I never had on my radar when it came to new hit singles (Walk Like an Egyptian, If She Knew What She Wants......). But they were there again and again then out of nowhere and I liked their songs. They became part of the soundtrack of my school days.

I highly recommend reacting to Susanna Hoffs solo music. In my opinion it's just as good as the music she made with The Bangles. Songs I recommend are "My Side Of The Bed", "All I Want", "Unconditional Love", "Picture Me" and "Raining".

Prince was a genius! He churned out song after song, he couldn’t stop. His mind was full of ideas, new melodies and lyrics. Write till his death. He could pull out a new song like it was nothing and it would be an instant classic.

The keyboard reminds me of the harpsichord, romantic songs of the 15th-18th centuries. Very upper-class, mixed with pop rock and relatable lyrics. Nice. Thank you, again, Prince, you gave so much.

You said that you were going to do "Hazy Shade of Winter" next. The Bangles version is a cover of a Simon and Grarfunkel song, so it is a win/win, S&G and the Bangles. Here is a write-up from Wikipedia: "A Hazy Shade of Winter" is a song by American music duo Simon & Garfunkel, released on October 22, 1966, initially as a stand-alone single, but subsequently included on the duo's fourth studio album, Bookends (1968). It peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100.
