The Basics Of Sheet Metal Fab

We've gotten a lot of question on sheet metal fab over the years. So we decided to do a brief how-to for you guys. If you plan on doing a decent amount of sheet metal fab there are two machines you'll want to have in your shop. Those are a sheet metal break and a stomp shear. There are a lot of different options when it comes to these machines from price to size.
Some basic tools for sheet metal are tin snips, stomp shear and maybe a plasma cutter. And while they all have upsides, there are downsides as well. A plasma cutter, for example, depending on your skill set can be hard to get a nice straight cut and also leaves a rough edge. A stomp shear, however, gives you a laser straight line.

Not a bad into vid. I’m applying for sheet metal fab at a local AC and heating company. I’m good with my hands but I have no sheet metal experience. Any advice?

Yeah I dont have room for a stomp shear and I have a pretty big garage.

Lol then bend it with your hands and a hammer.. that may fit your budget, unless a hands are too expensive..

Get some hand seamers, a circular saw, tin snips you’ll be alright to make a square like that without all the equipment,

Why is those counter weight so far down? No one wants to lift that heavy arm like that. Pick up those huge red balls of steel and see how much easier it works. Nice box and pan though
